terrible customer service
Hello I was at the bank in Marietta Georgia on Whitlock making deposits into my account I have 60% of a $20 bill that my dog chewed up and upon making the deposit I asked if they can accept it the lady at the next window over said it had to be 60% I showed her that it was 60% she then proceeded to be rude and argumentative and told me I need to go bank somewhere else I can't believe she works behind the counter when you can plainly see that there's more than half the bill here I don't know where she's getting her math from but I'll check the Google reviews on this Bank and I'm not the only one that has a problem with customer service I think I'll be taking her advice it was a horrible experience and I'm going to find a nicer Bank
overdraft fees
Suntrust is doing shady business, they will try and hit you with as many overdraft fees as possible. If you have 100.00 in your account and you make 2 transactions, both totaling 100.00, then another later that afternoon for 101.00. Suntrust will then, after 9 pm move the charges around, so that the 101.00 charge will take the money first an hit you with 2 overdraft fees, one for each of the transactions. When in fact it should have only been one cause at the time of the 2 transactions its was funds there to cover, not the case with this bank, higher charges go first to eat up the money so they can gain from it. I have already filed a complaint and waiting to hear back from my attorney
nsf fee for 6 cent oversight
Charged 36 dollars for a 6 cent oversight. Called customer service had a 20 minute wait time was told too bad. This is not right and they are very smug and so sure that they are right in ripping off their clients.Been a customer for 17 years. Word of advice do not use this bank they rob their clients. Is this legal? Cant find any info the number for their corporate office is out of order and there is no way to contact them.
rude bank teller
I was in SunTrust bank in College park( 5600 Greenbelt Rd, College Park, MD 20740)
when I had an issue with one of the employees. Obadu, was the manager on site.
The name of the rude teller was Esther Caster(Just to be clear, Teller Coordinator).
I wanted to takeout $100 which puts my account on zero(0) I held up a dollar bill saying I am going to put a dollar in there so the account won't stay on zero. Long story short I asked for her card.
The short story:
She was looking for everything she could to make me wait and feel uncomfortable i.g.: "You just got this account a few days ago...?" Why is this address on your I.D different from what is on the account?" Not to mention, body language, terribly unsubtle. Then the, "why are you taking out all the money?" Loudly, which isn't a problem, that is if your making a movie. Her positional "look-down-at-you-energy" was overwhelming unethical and detrimental to corporate taste and precious time, actions was "... wow, did I know you? DO I know you!?" The teller abreast to her was nodding in concord, to my "be the bigger person disposition."
The manager on site came to see what was going on. I knew better then to make a scene, the whole time might I add -- look at the tape (2/13/18) fill in the blanks -- cause my intention was to get in and out before the bus across the street came. I don't know this woman, so idk, something is up with her. Personally, she just need some snuggly 101 training or bootcamp for pressed Tellers.
At the end the manager(Obadu) asked for my name -- By the way is Gonell Duclosel -- then gesturing me to the side(his office) slightly harping on into a coaxing melody. Worst. Worst experience ever.
the customer service
I went to my local suntrust and the teller there is so rude! I just opened my account and she is so rude. I went to just deposit my check and the way she spoke to me is VERY rude. I would like to speak to a district manager or a regional manager someone who's in charge of this area. This is ridiculous. After a month that I've been with them they want to be rude?! No. I will be waiting for a call from someone ASAP.
cash rewards
In January (I believe it was on the 11th and on the 17th) i requested twice that my rewards be cashed out and put into my checking account. I am told the money went into a wrong account. I don't know if I gave the wrong number, or someone in the bank did. It doesn't matter. I have been told repeatedly, like every 2 days, that the money would be in my account in 2 days. 2 days would pass and no money. This has been going on for about three weeks now. The decision maker is well insulated, because all I can get are entry level
people, who can't resolve the issue. The last four digits of my credit card are:
4389. The amount I am looking for is: $191. and change. PLEASE, is there someone who can resolve this? Why should I wait for the money? The bank should be able to put the money in my account, and deal with the person who erroneously got my money afterward.
account freeze
My complaint was not resolved. It is generated by the complaint board to which I tried it in vain to correct it. I went to the office and talked to supervisor of fraudulent department and they say the other fund will be available today but not sure of rescinding the account freeze.
To solve this in the future you should disable copy deposit in the mobile account until you can completely authenticate any check. Nowadays with advance in technology this should be easy.
Hopefully I should be able to use my available fund today. You hold it hostage which as the result of I cannot make grocery payment, outstanding bills to top it of my, insurance without which I cannot work my job,

To this day I cannot access my account. As the result I cannot do my job., shop for groceries, pay for gas and pay my bills. I completely bogged down. I go to local band and talked fraud dept on the phone but nothing forth coming.
Can you release my account. You can search for the fraud that is ok but holding my account hostage does not make any sense.
It is also ok if you close the account and give me the balance otherwise I will consult my lawyer to resolve it.

On Jan 21 2018 I deposited a check from bank of America in the amount of 755.55 on subsequent day I deposited another 2500 from Associated Bank. Because this particular deposit was found to be fraudulent the bank initiated an investigation and my account has been frozen. I cannot access my account and pay bills until the account has cleared off. Now I cannot even pay insurance and as the result I am not at work.
This should never happen. I have been with sun trust for quite some time this should be self evedent looking at the record during those there is nothing done to the account except that you collect so many overdraft protection each costing 36 per transaction.
In the above transactions if we analyze it one by one the problem is easy to identify. The two account they do not have connection and to draw any connection is meaningless. For the first transaction you can call bank of America and verify it by simple phone call and asking is this your check if they say yes then the next question would be does it have sufficient fund if not you would have contacted me and I will talk the person who gave me the check. When it comes to the second ck you do the same and if you found it suspicious then you can pursue the matter to the end but not victimize me for some ones fault. This is the amount which the co. said that would be applied to the office I have to set up here and buy computers and other things for an office. At the time I was looking for a job and my resume was all over and this co offers me something in return for the job I applied to. I have no connection whatsoever with them other than the phantom job offer. I cannot understand why sun trust took this irresponsible act of holding my check and stranded me from doing anything with my money.
Moreover it seems like your mobile web application can accept any ones deposit without verification by presenting only a copy of the check this really screw people who are trying to strive in the labor market.

We opened our account because the location was close to were we live and the other location was not to far out of our way. Now both of those locations are closed and the new branch is on the other side of town in a very very busy part of town. We will be closing our account and opening up with another bank that is more convenient for us and our business.
agent service
We went to the Suntrust branch on Wickham Rd in Viera Florida. The girl working the drive through (medium long curly hair and glasses & wearing a white shirt with a floral pattern) greeted us with such a bad attitude that my husband and I both were very offended. The girl is extremely rude. Then, she served the other two windows first, even though we were at the window first and had a very simple transaction. We will NEVER return to this branch. I have never, in all my 25 years of banking, encountered such an unprofessional drive thru worker. Ridiculous! She really should be spoken to about her consistency. She has none. Thanks! Love your workers at the other locations very much, especially the Lake Washington Melbourne branch and the Cocoa Beach location.

You guys are the worst company ever you guys shut people's accounts off without even telling them people are going to go to use their card and get embarrassed because it's going to get denied even when they have money in their account because you guys shut accounts off without telling anybody I think that is uncalled for and I'm going to have you guys investigated because you guys are keeping people from their money and making him wait 10 days for a letter people need their money and then on top of that you guys have no ATMs and no banks people can go to in California
the closing of my business checking account without notification and without the release or access to funds
After attempting to log into my business checking account, I went into a suntrust branch off main street to to get feedback as to what is going on. Once the bank teller informed me that my account was closed, I was in disbelief. She then informed me that I could speak to the banker for further details regarding my account. After waiting in the bank for about 15 minutes, I informed one, that my account was closed according to the teller. He was not able to give me any information and stated that a check will be forward it to me in the amount of $11, 450.00 and some change. I was still in shock as to why my account was closed and why haven't I been contacted. Juan proceeded to inform me that he was not sure, however he stated that he has seen this before and that there could be many reasons as to why the account was closed. Juan proceeded to give me a telephone number that I could call and before I could walk out the door I called the 800-number. Not only did I have to call the number twice, I had to call it a third time to seek information regarding my account and the availability of my funds Finally after about 20 minutes Jeff Teague reviewed my account and informed me that there were some documents that I needed to complete. At this point I am sitting in front of the police station getting ready to fill out a fraud report regarding my funds. Jeff continued to inform me that the branch that Went into, should have informed me of the documents that needed to be completed. Regardless, I should not have been notified once I got into the bank. I should have received a call, a written notice, or some type of communication regarding access to my funds.
This needs to be resolved immediately as I must have access to my funds ASAP! This is just plain poor customer service and no one should be treated in these terms. I will proceed to file a complaint as I was advised if this is not handled immediately.
teller service in cashing a check
I am not a Sun Trust customer but I recd a check from a former employer who is & I wanted to get the checked cashed immediately so I could deposit to my bank & credit union. The check showed the business name & that it was for the Profit Sharing Trust account. It was a large check (over $5k) so I assume that is why she called my former employer to verify the signature. However, there was definitely a language barrier. She had to repeat my name several time & why she was calling. In the end they did not understand her or why she was calling & the teller couldn't cash the check. She said I had to call them. I asked for the number since I had worked there in awhile & she said she couldn't give it to me. Her name was unusual. It was MayKing or something similar. Towson, Maryland branch at 1608 E. banking hours
The only reason that (for the time being) we're keeping our two accounts at SunTrust is the two extraordinary female drive-through tellers that you have at your US 441 & Clint Moore Branch. Today I drove through 20 minutes of heavy traffic to get to your bank. I got there at 3:57 according the my Apple watch- which must have been wrong as you had your "4 PM CLOSED" sign up already. Drove to the front door which was locked at 3:59 but it opened a minute later as all your employees were fleeing the building (I didn't see the fire!).
Where we come from in the Midwest banks have at least a 5 to 10 minute grace period- not that I needed one -I WAS ON TIME! EMPLOYEES FIRST SHOULD BE YOUR MOTTO!-Ever think of paying them to 4:15? Oh, that's where the expression "BANKERS HOURS" comes from!
Expecting the location to stay open for 5-10 minutes after closing is unreasonable. Employees may have families, other jobs, school, etc. I understand being upset if the location closed early, however there may have been a difference between your clock and theirs. At most what you can do is speak to a supervisor and/or open accounts elsewhere. A lot of banks these days stay open at least until 5:00PM.
customer service or lack thereof
I have been to the branch in Clonial Heights, VA on several occasions and each time I am made to wait for over 35 minutes up to an hour for someone to verify a check. The branch manager is always on the phone constantly and I watch at least 5 customers walk out each time. The ironic part is that the branch is almost always empty yet the staff is very preoccupied. I will stop conducting business with this and all branches.

attempted repossession of incorrect vehicle
You have an account with a consumer who lives at the same address as I. Your company hired a negligent company to reposses his vehicle, whom in turn, came to my address and lifted MY vehicle and then dropped it and took off like a bat out of hell when they saw people watching them and ( IM ASSUMING) realized that they PICKED UP THE WRONG VEHICLE. This incident happened right before 11AM on 9/22/2017. This was an old blue truck with a woman and man driving. We have placed a call into your company to address this issue being that it happened. Apparently your employee was not interested in hearing about the negligence of this company working for you or correcting the error they made. She was only concerned with finding the vehicle that is the collateral with the bank.. We've called back since and left a voicemail for a manager. How surprising there has been no return call. At this point...I'm livid. MY 2015 WHITE CAMARO SS CONVERTIBLE will now be taken to a shop and the damages INCLUDING THE EXHAUST will be assessed and YOUR company WILL resolve this issue before i get my attorney and the news involved. I am not going to be victimized and have MY property damaged by the negligence of YOUR company and affiliates!
different rules for cashing a check
I walked into the suntrust bank in Roanoke to cash a check my husband wrote out to me. He has an active bank account I do Not with this bank for obvious reasons. The lady tells me even though he has an account it will still cost me 7 dollars to cash it and I need to forms of identification so I hand her my drivers license and my social security card. She looks at me and says they can NOT except my social security card they need a check card or something like that. Never in my life have I had this happen. If my social security card and identification card is good enough to open an account at a bank why is this unexpected to cash a check that is a suntrust check? This is not the first time that suntrust has gave me a hard time about cashing 1 of his suntrust bank checks. And why are we paying 7 dollars to cash a check at the bank it is coming from.
overdraft fees
When every other banks and financial institutions in the community understand that people in Freda are going to a difficult time, they temporarily wave their overdraft fees and late charge fees. Suntrust is taking advantage of his customers to charge them overdraft fees. This is wrong. Many people in Florida are still without power, Internet and cables.

I recently just opened a checking account with Suntrust two weeks agoas they had a $200 bonus promotion. I opened it up with the minimum deposit and signed up with Direct Deposit through my employer. Unfortunately, I was unable to have Direct Deposit to this current paycheck. So, I had to deposit a check myself in which I did via the mobile app. This was on Wednesday, August 30th, 2017 midday. I tried logging on several times on the mobile app the following day and received the "The SunTrust Mobile Banking service is currently unavailable. Please try again." I thought that maybe there was some type of issue with their system, so I said "I'll check back later." I than had to go to Publix to buy something and my card declined. I was surprised because I knew I had funds. So, I paid with the little bit of cash that I had (luckily, because I never carry cash on me). Than decided to do an ATM withdraw, which indicated that I had to contact the Bank. All this time, I still thought "hmm, maybe they are just having a lot of technical issues today". So, I called in this morning as I was still unable to log in the app and was told that they CLOSED out my account. At this moment, I'm irate because I wasn't contacted prior and provided an explanation. The young lady said I had to contact after 8am EST to gather additional information. And so I did. I spoke with another young lady and was told that my account is under "investigation" and that they could not tell me why. I went into the N. Dale Mabry branch (Tampa, FL) and was told by the Branch Manager, Tania after waiting 20 minutes in the lobby (after being told to wait out of her office while she spoke with the Investigation team) that she cannot tell me why but, that they are closing it out 9/8/2017 and that I'll receive a response VIA MAIL 7-10 business days AFTER 9/8/17 and with a decision of whether or not they can release my funds (even prior to the deposit). I felt as I was being treated as "defamation of character". She made me feel as if I was the cause. Even after offering to help and bring my employer over to provide any additional information to get this resolved. Now, I must wait until mid September to know if I received my funds or not. And I am unable to pay my bills until than, including my rent.
This is extremely unprofessional and just lack of communication on their end. I will definitely be seeking representation on "defamation of character" and the amount of time without access to my funds as well as any late fees on my bills.
