Games with pricing
Over 2 years ago I provided TDS with a $25.00 refundable deposit. Received an email in July 2022 indicating service was available, with a link to sign up and schedule service. After doing so, I received an email confirming my order with pricing and a note that customer service would be contacting me with an installation date.
Customer service finally contacted me in September 2022. The customer service rep quoted a price that was $20.00/month more than what was indicated in the email from July. I told the customer rep, NO to the install, unless the pricing agreed with the July email, and if they couldn't honor the quoted price to refund the $25.00 deposit. The rep said she would get back to me.
A week ago I received an email that installation was scheduled for November 11. Again, I contacted TDS and the July pricing would not be honored. So, I cancelled the scheduled service.
So, I guess the $25.00 is just a loss, as I am not about to spend hours trying to recover the amount, as their customer service is evidently useless.

TDS terrible all around. It took 2 months for them to fully install our internet. After missing 4 days of work to be there for them to install. 3 different times they came out while I had to take work off to meet them and when they got there, they said it was just to see what they had to do to install. 3 times! Finally on their 4th visit it was installed. Well after 7 months we had to move out. I called to cancel services and was told that we would have to pay an 1800.00 early termination fee. I asked if there was anything they could do with that fee and was told absolutely not, I signed a contract and it's my fault for signing it. They told me that the contract price was heavily discounted. So, I asked if there was an option for a non-contract monthly price. I was told yes, I then asked why I was not offered the non-contract price and forced to sign onto the contract, and they said we don't tell the customer and I should have asked them about a non-contract price. So basically, please do not sign a contract with them! They will extort your hard-earned money. I spoke to the highest up person, and she was no help either. I was told she knows its sucks and it's not right but too bad you signed the contract. If there were transparent on the fees and would offer the non-contract price it would have made things a lot easier instead, they do not care about the customer, and you will have to pay for services that you don't even have. Absolutely disgusted

on [protected] Driver drove on private property and around a blockaid onto neighbors grass rappidly and through my property at 102 N. Main St. Reeseville, WI 53579.
Google maps has it wrong and this is private property and it is posted as private. No reason to drive around onto neighbors grass and dive through my parking area rappidly. This area is for my customers and employees for my two bussinesses..
No respect at all for your company equipment or my personnel property.
You need a better way to call in and inform you of problem employees. As your truck also jumpped all over the place crossing the rail road tracks.
Desired outcome: respect for personnel property and safety as my grandchildren play in that area. That is the reason it is blocked off.Not a Happy Customer

TDS, in North Georgia, is the absolute worst company I have ever had to deal with. I've lived all over the US, overseas and still nothing compares to it. They have a monopoly in my area and abuse it daily. Friday morning, @ 9:30-10:15 am and the service has been interrupted at least 10 times. And this is not an exception.
That being said, some of their techs that have come out have been awesome. What a waste.
TDS internet Bill
I started with TDS internet in March. They mentioned additional charges for a wireless router. I said that I don't want a wireless router and I want to use mine. The technician made a note of it. After the installation I setup the autopay and enrolled for the paperless billing. Recently as I was going through my bank statements, I realized that TDS has been charging me more than what they should have been. I talked with their customer service department and they accepted that there was a note from the technician but also said that they can refund me only for 3 months.
They cited section 2.7 of their terms of service (which no one reads) and said that customer is responsible for verifying that billing charges are correct. I find that absurd. If they were charging me less for 10 months and they realize it, will they let go of those additional charges.
Desired outcome: Refund me for all the extra money charged since March-22
Refund not being issued
Signed up for TDS service on November 18, 2020, with $25.00 refundable payment. Emailed TDS on August 16, 2021, canceling service request and asking for $25.00 refund. Service was not installed. Another email sent September 21, 2021, asking for refund. Physically mail copies of email message and service order to TDS on November 3, 2021. Email sent January 18, 2022, to salesperson asking for refund. Representative from TDS called January 21, 2022, to say refund will be issued in March and I should receive it in April. Telephoned that representative on June 1, 2022, indicating refund not received. No reply. Emailed salesperson June 9, 2022, saying refund not received. No reply. Emailed salesperson today (August 10, 2022) indicating refund not received and I will be contacting Better Business Bureau.
Desired outcome: I would like a $25.00 refund. It would be nice if interest and compensation for the amount of time spent trying to obtain a refund
TDS fiber cable, phone, and internet
I was unexpectedly visited at my home by a (supposed) TDS representative. TDS is installing fiber-optic cable in my neighborhood. This rep pigeon-holed me for an hour and a half of my time, trying to get me to sign up for an umbrella package deal. I was initially interested, but then was turned off by his inability or unwillingness to answer questions regarding the proposed service. After reading the customer comments / complaints posted on Yelp, I decided not to do business with this shady outfit. I hope others in my area do not get roped in.
Desired outcome: Field reps should be more honest and more prepared when contacting prospective subscribers.
Denied internet connection
Well, we have tried to get service for over a month. Today I called about the problem and the supervisor was very rude and cut me short with my questions. My son has been trying to find out from TDS who put services in his name back in 2017. They denied him with service because they said he had an unpaid balance. But, they will not provide him with the bill or say who or what address for the service was for. She told me that I would have to get a lawyer to get that information. How is a customer suppose to pay a bill that TDS say we owe without providing a paper copy of the bill. This bill has never came up until now no contact has been made with us. So, my son is expected to pay a bill for someone else that has used his information without proof of the bill that TDS said he requested in 2017. So, if a person provide an email and name they can use someones elses personal information and get service. All we are asking for is proof that my son requested this service which he never have had any service with TDS. My son needs this service to work for Express Script from home. The customer service with TDS is not good. The supervisor did not want to help solve the problem.
Desired outcome: Well, we just want to receive copy of what TDS say my son owe. Which he really doesn't because he never had service with TDS.

My internet and phone drop on Friday and call got a appointment from 3to5 and I call to find out they cancel my appointment said I threaten them so I call then the man on the phone said that is not what he said so he call regent manager could not get touch with for a hour and said I need to talk to him that want happen the 30 years I hade your service you all think that ted company is there's they don't respect people at all you company will get a report form me i got a police report this is the last time they will lie for not want to work

Attempts to bill for modem after failing to provide return box, interminable hold times.
I provided TDS weeks of notice that the military was transferring me from South Georgia to Alaska. They told me to call back right before I needed service disconnected. No problem, so I did so with three days left on my lease. They informed me that if I wanted internet for that three days I'd have to pay a full month's fees. (Prorating is something beyond their capabilities, apparently.) Fine, I paid, and they also informed me that I'd need to send back the network modem or I'd be billed for it. No worries, I gave them the address where I would be for SEVEN WEEKS.
Near the end of that time I finally called them to ask where the box was, only to be told that they had sent it to my previous address (You know... the one I clearly MOVED OUT OF when I disconnected service TWO MONTHS AGO?) I gave them the correct address for the second time, and they assured me that they'd get the box out to me.
Well, it didn't arrive, so I dragged their damn modem to Alaska. You know what did arrive? A nasty email threatening me with collections if I didn't pay them for an item I've been trying to return to them for almost three months now. Three offensive text messages about the consequences of non-payment.
I have an 824 credit rating, and I certainly didn't get that by putting up with companies billing me for their own foul ups. I called in SEVEN TIMES to their "customer service" number and sat on hold for a minimum of 35 minutes each time. The only way around this to talk to a human being is to call the SALES department, where they don't put you on hold because they think you're a prospective customer-- but sales just transfers you to the same "service" number, where you sit on hold again. I have now been forced to give them three different addresses because I've been in various hotels for lengthy periods before my house is ready, and they haven't been able to figure out how to get the shipping materials to ANY of them before I left. TDS is so disorganized that they can't even provide a tracking number for the box they are sending you because they "require" you to use for their own equipment.
I called in on January 8th and demanded they email me a shipping label, since I was tired of waiting for their box. Unfortunately, this 21st century telecommunications company can't figure out how to complete an operation done by thousands of goddamn ETSY stores. I've called in seven times in the last week and been hung up on by the automated system after being on hold more than 45 minutes FIVE of those calls. On the 18th I finally got someone to send me a shipping box to my current hotel room-- but they couldn't promise when it would be sent out, and it takes at least five days to send it to Alaska, while the threats from their collections department now state that if I don't pay by the 31st of January It'll impact my credit.
Today, 20 January, I finally spoke with "Jovan" who followed through on making sure that the box would be sent to me (but they still can't provide a tracking number so I know that it is in route-- but they damn sure want you to provide one to them when you send it off!) He gave me his office number, which I place here for others to avoid the phone queue: [protected].
Following this complaint I am filing further complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Georgia Attorney General's office. If TDS actually makes the mistake of trying to send me to collections and it impacts my credit score negatively, I will immediately turn this over to my nearest military JAG office for federal prosecution as a violation of the Soldier's and Sailor's Relief Act of 1954-- and that's if I don't file a personal lawsuit against them.
I have two desired outcomes. 1. I want a hand written letter of apology (absolutely NO FORM EMAILS or letters!) from the manager in charge of the Georgia offices of TDS in which he will explain how he intends to improve his customer relations.
2. I want this fraudulent bill immediately vacated. I will happily provide TDS with their equipment JUST AS SOON AS THEY PROVIDE TO ME THE SHIPPING LABEL AND BOX I ASKED FOR IN OCTOBER OF 2021!
Bear in mind that I still intend to make BBB complaints about TDS. These outcomes will only prevent my filing complaints with military legal and with the Georgia Attorney General's office.

The matter has been resolved. Props to TDS for swift resolution and response to my BBB complaint. I do not see where I can mark this matter resolved here on ComplaintsBoard, however.
Posted complaint to BBB that was almost identical in wording to this complaint. BBB contacted TDS who responded within four hours with an acceptable resolution. (Provided tracking numbers for boxes to ship modem back, vacated the spurious charge for the modem, apologized for the apathy of lower level representatives.) TDS should be commended for their prompt resolution to this matter. I wish it hadn't gone to this level, but I do certainly appreciate their resolution. Thank you.

If I could go lower in stars I would because in all reality they don't even deserve one star. My Grandpa went into the hospital on November 19th. My Grandpa passed away on November 27th. The service was activated on November 12th. My Mom received his bill and saw that his bill was over $200.00. She just called them today to explain to them that he had passed away and they wouldn't budge on the price. So ultimately they wanted my mom to pay them $200+ for 7 days worth of service. How does that make sense? She would've paid them for the 7 days but she's not going to pay them over $200 for 7 days. Good luck collecting it from him since he is no longer with us. I wish companies would have a little bit of compassion and understanding instead of just caring about the money. It would've definitely made sad mother that just lost her father to COVID a little easier. WOW is all I have to say. I hope this company gets shut down. I will be posting reviews on every single complaint site that I can.

Extremely slow internet service and poor customer support
12/28/21 at 9:30 PM, internet connection speed dropped to 2.94 download and could not even watch Netflix. Hard booted TV and Router but did not change anything. Called customer service in a third world country and they did nothing. Worst internet service I have ever experience and I am retired IT professional. Actually Twisted Pair was better than this, if you know what that means. Horrible service and company.

Payments are not posted timely and service was interrupted.
TDS posts payments between 7 and 10 days after they receive the funds. They then cut off service due to late payment and require fee to re-connect. The worst part is there is zero responsiveness from the company when called. Their tactic is to put customers on interminable holds until they drop.

Charge for late payment... but payment was made on time
I just received a bill from TDS stating that I was late. The check was sent in 10 days prior to the due date. I keep very good records and have never had a late payment with these people. I called up the customer service number to alert them to the problem. They basically indicated that they would not take off the extra 10 dollar charge and hung up on me. No wonder this company receives so many complaints. I then called back and talked to a Lisa who said we needed to send in payment 7 to 10 business days ahead of the due date. We don't even get the bill that soon. Also, it's not stated on the bill anywhere that this is the procedure to be done! SO... If you want headaches even if you PAY your bills ahead of time, use these people for your service.

Overhead fiber optic cable running across my property.
TDS has a fiber optic cable that runs from the pole at the corner of my property, all the way across my property to my neighbors house. The cable runs approximately 80 to 90 feet from the pole to the neighbors house and is 10 feet off the ground at the lowest point. This is for service to my neighbors property, not mine. There is another pole directly out from my neighbors property that the cable should be run from to my neighbors house without having to cross other people's property. My address is 1338 Jack Oak Rd, Cassville, WI. My neighbors address is 1334 Jack Oak Rd, Cassville, WI.
Desired outcome: Relocate cable to the pole directly out in front of my neighbors property.

I am complaining about the service. I have no service but you still sending me a bill. Your service repair man did not fix the phone he told me to use my cell phone. I'm am not paying you for service I did not get. All I'm getting is a bill but no service. No service out here for a long time. Please correct my bill until the repair is done. After 16 years of tds and no other option due to living in the blue ridge, ga rural area. Where do we start?
Confusing, unknowledgeable, frustrating customer service representatives. Call centers are overseas and and are actually collection and or payment centers.
No reference numbers or ticket numbers for future order change service correspondence.
Line upgrades, additions and changes are confusing. Constant follow up with internet and long distance over charge fees. (continental us long distance). We are not in the 80's and 90's.
Poor, outdated switches, routers and software and lets not speak of the 5 meg internet speeds!
Poorly trained contractors and employees.
Sales employees are in charge pf procuring upgrades and changes to your account and do not pay attention to the services you currently have and wipe out all of your features/services, add other services that are pro $sales comission oriented. No follow up from sales, service or customer support.
