Service, knowledge & capabilities of this bank is terrible
Service, knowledge & capabilities of this bank is terrible. This company is operating with technology & policies that are archaic.
Very bad customer service
Very bad customer service. We had to change when the company merged with the old bank. Called customer service because my account didn't transfer right or they couldn't find my info on the website. They couldn't help but said a specialist had to call me back. Over 24 hours and still no reply. I can't access my account now unless I go to a bank. The customer service person was poorly trained and acted like it was their first day. The boss told me the same thing and said they couldn't help.
Not reliable at all
Not reliable at all. I paid our vehicle off in June, early in fact as I paid over the payment amount each and every month, and the lien was not released from my title until 2022! I had made attempts to get this corrected and was told the title would be mailed to me. In 2022, I was told they would have sent it to my old address, that we moved from in December. Let me advise you that the lie that was told was confirmed to be a lie simply because they still held the lien until June 2022! Unprofessional employees and a lack of due diligence on their part. I will never use them and do not recommend.
This company is the worst I've ever dealt with
This company is the worst I've ever dealt with. They have my mortgage and they took the payment twice, on the 1st and 4th of the month. I tried to use my debit card at the store, but it got declined because Telhio took all my money. Now I have an overdraft fee, which never happened before. I checked my bank account and finally realized what they did. When I called to fix it, I was put on hold for 60 minutes and transferred to the wrong person multiple times. They said they would fix it in the next 24-48 hours. How am I supposed to buy food and gas in the meantime? And that's it? They're just giving me back the money they stole? None of the people I talked to were helpful or cared about the situation they put me in. ComplaintsBoard.com requires at least one star, but I wouldn't even give them half a star.
I'm a small minority construction company that was lookin for a $50,000.00 line of credit with Telhio
I'm a small minority construction company that was lookin for a $50,000.00 line of credit with Telhio. I was recommend to them. I started the process in August with an agent and the communication and fallow is VERY VERY POOR. Every thing was done over text and email and voicemail. The agent was always busy and very very slow getting back to me if at all so I hade to call and text repeatedly to get a response. December 6th she emailed me and said we may have to start all over again because it's been so long and she made statements about I should contact another local agency that works with small business. On December 7th she sent me and email saying she is turning my case over to another agent with no explanation why. When I spoke with the new agent he said he will take care of this and it should not have taken this long. On January 19th I received a Docu sign in my email so I signed it the same day the next week I I sent an email to verify that he received the Docu sign and I was told its lost in the system and he is working with IT department. January 26th I called to get and update on the status of the loan approval and the agent was in a meeting so he called me back on the 28th and said he does not have the Docu sign and working with IT department and this is my personal information that's out in the cloud and I cannot get an answer of what is going on or why it's taking so long. I was told that he did not pull my credit yet so If I wanted to end the process he would understand. They are not professional and very sloppy with handling loans. 6 months of wasted time and now my information is out in the cloud. I would never recommend them for any banking business dealing. Very sloppy and poor business practices. The *** is asking for a start rating for me to submit my compliant so I have to give them 1 star but I don't feel they deserve any.
I've been doin' business with this credit union for like 10 years
I've been doin' business with this credit union for like 10 years. Issue #1 there ain't no way to pay 'cept at a branch office, usin' yer own bank payment app or via *** Ok, inconvenient as *** but I can deal with that. Bad news comin' up. When we agreed to the last loan, the loan officer refused to alter the monthly payment date even by a few days. We actually had a lengthy discussion 'bout the date demanded creatin' a really tight squeeze between my pay days and time for snail mail delivery. The loan officer actually said and I quote " We have a 15 day grace *** so don't worry" Apparently the loan officer was Lucifer in disguise. This so-called "grace ***" worked great until COVID. Then all of a sudden this 15 day grace *** for mailed payments don't exist anymore. :( Payment is due on the 1st and their debt collectors are callin' the house demandin' payment by the 3rd. Sorry *** We gotta mail yer payment 'cause duh---We don't live anywhere near a branch office which ya knew when the load was created. Aggravatin' enough every month after nearly 10 yrs I'm suddenly gettin' nasty debt collectors callin' my house when a simple look at the account history indicates payment is mailed *** and rec'd within the so-called "grace" ***. The real kicker is comin'! For October we got a new nasty gift from Telhio in the form of a letter from their collections *** dated on the 4th (rec'd on the 12th after business hours) statin' we had agreed in an imaginary phone conversation that never actually occurred to make a payment by close of business on the 12th. LOL---Guess the *** messes with their mailings too. HAHAHAHAH Not really amusin' to be presented with a formal letter claimin' a promise for payment that never happened hours after the imaginary due date of the payment. BAD BAD BAD business tactic. I would never ever recommend this credit union to anyone--(Well I'd probably recommend Telhio if'n I had an enemy who needed a loan really bad) and every month my own personal regrets for ever agreein' to any association with this company grows by leaps and bounds. Ugh... Save yerself the aggravation and find another bank or credit union. Avoid this one like the plague. Covid is bad enough. No one needs monthly visits from the Red Death to complicate matters.
If I could do less than 1 star, I would
If I could do less than 1 star, I would. Between the lack of communication and mistakes, I would never recommend this company to anyone. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THEM unless you want 30 years of frustration. We opened a 30-year mortgage with them and have had nothing but issues. They messed up our loan and forgot important details. They have lied about what we would be paying, our closing disclosure, and taking care of everything. I have had to double-check their work and point out their mistakes because they assume all mortgages are the same. They don't verify or confirm, which leads to misleading information and a headache to deal with. I am on my 3rd issue and if anything else comes up, I will post another review with names because this has become ridiculous and a waste of my time. Examples of what happened so far: on closing day, the title company came to our house to do signing. The night before, the rep sent us the 'final' closing disclosure and said nothing will change from here (9 pm the night before). The rep showed up and I realized it was $4500 less than the disclosure stated. I asked the rep why and he had no clue. We tried contacting our agent, the processer lady, and no one answered. Finally, the title guy got ahold of his boss and they informed us that they forgot to include this year's property taxes. No one called us or informed us. So after 1.5 hours of trying to figure out what happened, we were told and wasted our time. The next situation was two months after getting the mortgage set up, our insurance agent called to inform us that the mortgage company hasn't paid yet. I called them and their response was, "I don't know, let me look into it and I will call you back in 5 minutes." But I didn't hear back from him, so I called him multiple times and left voicemails with no response. The next day, I called again and sent an email. They responded to my email without even calling me back. Finally, they answered my blocked call, which infuriated me. He said he wasn't sure why they didn't include the annual insurance on our closing. Now I'm irate because it's their job to handle this. They are telling me I need to come out of pocket for the annual amount until next year. There is so much more I could add, but my fingers hurt from typing this. I will do a follow-up later, but believe me when I say, FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO HANDLE YOUR MORTGAGE - don't waste your time.

I just finished paying off my 2016 Chevy Trax, but now Telhio is saying I got an account from way back in 2010
I just finished paying off my 2016 Chevy Trax, but now Telhio is saying I got an account from way back in 2010. They're saying it was involved in my divorce and bankruptcy in 2016. They're telling me they can't give me the title or remove the lien on my vehicle.
Telhio Credit Union Inc
Telhio Credit Union Inc. is a financial institution that unfortunately engages in some questionable practices. Recently, they placed an unauthorized hold on my funds, which were transferred through an ACH direct deposit from the US Treasury Department for my SSI payment. This deposit, totaling $783.00, was supposed to be available in my Telhio checking account on February 28.
When I contacted their member services representative, they suggested that I visit a branch in person to withdraw the funds directly from my son's SSI deposit. Trusting their advice, I made the effort to go to the branch on Friday, February 28. However, I was left waiting for 20 minutes, only to be told by the teller that they couldn't release the funds to me in person.
To make matters worse, Telhio also disabled my debit card, preventing me from using it, and restricted my online account access. These actions were clearly taken to cover up their illegal behavior, as I am unable to print my transactions or view my account history.
Adding insult to injury, Telhio shamelessly returned a check I had written to my son for $570.00, even though I had sufficient funds in my checking account to cover it. This check was returned on March 3.
It is evident that Telhio Credit Union Inc. operates without regard for the law, displaying corrupt and racist behavior. Their actions are nothing short of fraudulent.
Account *** was closed on 9/27
Account *** was closed on 9/27. We opened the account in 2016 for personal joint business matters. We had some issues with the mobile app, and nothing was explained to us. We didn't realize that there were certain conditions for the "choice checking" account. We never received any emails or mail about our accounts. We were told that it was our responsibility to keep an eye on them. Since we mainly deposited money and had trouble accessing the accounts, we stopped monitoring them. Somehow, we were able to open an account with a $10,000 minimum deposit even though we only had $3,000. This account had a $5.00 fee for the associated perks, which we could use if necessary. We're not sure how we ended up with this account type, and we're very frustrated that we lost nearly $500 since 2016. Please help us understand what happened. This is not okay. Mrs.

I'm a new customer at Telhio Credit Union Inc
I'm a new customer at Telhio Credit Union Inc. and I've only been with them for 2 months. My issue is not that they charge for overdrafts, but rather the lack of communication regarding how and when they notify me about it. For example, if I overdraft, they charge me and label it as a shopping charge on their app. Why don't they clearly state that it's a fee in my account? How would I know? I called customer service because I was confused about these $35 charges that were listed as charges by PayPal and Instacart. Their customer service claimed to know nothing about the charges, so I called the credit union to file a fraud charge. The customer service representative told me, "Oh yeah, we know it's confusing, but those are our premium OD fees." What does that even mean? I have no idea. They have charged me 21 times in 2 months, even when the charge was refunded, removed, or returned. I didn't receive any notifications through text, email, or mail, even when I had money in my savings account. They offered to refund 3 out of the 21 charges, but I didn't accept because if they're wrong, they're wrong. If not, then they shouldn't pay me anything. But I know they're aware that this is shady. I expect a full refund and a proper review of their policies. I will most likely end my relationship with them and close my account.
Me and my husband got an auto loan from Telhio
Me and my husband got an auto loan from Telhio. Our loan was originally with Columbus Metro Credit Union, but they merged with Telhio in February 2022. Since February, we tried many times to set up payments online, but it didn't work. The first payment we made was over the phone (since we couldn't set up an online account) and they couldn't give us a confirmation number. Luckily, the payment went through. After that, my husband went to a Worthington Telhio branch to set up automatic payments starting in May because we still couldn't access their online system. He gave the teller our bank account info and they said the automatic payments were set up, but again, they couldn't give us any confirmation. In May, no automatic payment was taken from our account. Unfortunately, we had covid at that time and didn't realize no payment was made until mid-June. Telhio charged us a $29.52 late fee for May. When we talked to Telhio about it, they said they couldn't do anything because we had no proof that we tried to set up automatic payments. We want the late fee refunded or applied to our next payment. We never had any late payments with Columbus Metro CU because their website was easy to use. This has only been a problem with Telhio because of the issues they had with transferring accounts from Columbus Metro CU and their unwillingness to give any confirmation.
We had to close our Telhio account 'cause we were movin' outta Ohio to Texas
We had to close our Telhio account 'cause we were movin' outta Ohio to Texas. We've been customers of Tehio for 'bout three years. When we tried to close our account, from our new home in Texas, they said we gotta come into an office in Ohio. We told 'em that ain't possible. They told us it ain't possible, then, to close our account. This back and forth lasted for several weeks and phone calls.
Finally, they agreed to close our account over the phone. However, they DID NOT CLOSE OUR ACCOUNT and several payments were made through automatic payment onto an account we thought was closed. We got charged $300 in overdraft fees. Ok. We had some charges come outta the account. That might've been on us.
We took all of the money out, asked that it was closed, and scrambled to make sure no automatic payments were bein' taken from our account. We paid the overdraft fees.
Months pass. We hear from Telhio in January. Our account still hadn't been closed and another payment had gone through our account, which was now zero, which was supposed to have been closed. We asked AGAIN that they close our account.
More time passes. Then May comes - Telhio calls us and says we owe $300 more. More overdraft charges. She claims it takes 45 days to fully close the account, and that another payment had gone through in that time. If a payment goes through, the 45 day process starts again. She promised me the account would be closed.
So far we are $600 in the hole to Telhio for overdraft fees. I get a call 48 hours later. Telhio again. Sayin' we owe 'em $300 more dollars for overdraft charges. Their story keeps changin'.
First it was charges related to a loan, now its charges related to overdraft. None of their explanations make sense and the number stays the same - $300 each time. Somethin' don't seem right. We been dealin' with this nightmare for a year now. It won't go away.
My husband died on November 26 because of Covid-19
My husband died on November 26 because of Covid-19. My son and I were also sick with the virus when we returned home from the hospital. While we were still in quarantine, we started gathering information about my finances so we could handle things as they came up.
We had two loans with Telhio, a car lease and a car loan, and we weren't sure if my name was on them. In the first week of December, my son called Telhio to ask for guidance. He found out that my name was not on either of the loans, and there was also a third loan that was only in my husband's name. We were told that I needed to bring the death certificate to a branch to remove my husband's name from the joint bank accounts. Then I would have the chance to buy the cars or set up new financing for them.
They said that the loan only in my husband's name would be put into default and a claim would be made to his estate. However, because of the pandemic, getting the death certificates was delayed. They told us it could take 25-30 days to get them. So, at the time of the call, we didn't have a death certificate.
They told my son to continue making the payments for December and to come to the branch once we had the death certificate. However, a little over a week later, we discovered that all the funds in my four joint accounts were taken out on December 14. The transaction record only said "deceased" and deducted the entire amounts, except for the $5 membership fee in the savings accounts. They took a total of $3,701.10 from the accounts. Because of the delay in getting the death certificates, we couldn't file any claims for life insurance or submit anything to Social Security for me to receive income.
I have been on disability for almost 14 years and only receive a few hundred dollars per month. My husband was the main source of income for us. These funds were almost all the money I had to pay for car payments, mortgage, medication, utilities, and groceries. So, in addition to dealing with the loss of my husband, my kids and I had to figure out how to cover our bills.
I contacted Telhio with my son that day and found out that they considered our initial phone call as a "notification of death." They put the loan only in my husband's name into default and seized the funds from my accounts, even though I was still a joint account holder.
We pointed out that state regulations and their own Membership Agreement stated that when one owner dies, all the money in the account goes to the surviving owner. However, they didn't return anything.
From December 23 onwards, we tried to work with Telhio to get the funds back based on the state regulations and their Membership Agreement. One employee tried to help us as much as possible, but we couldn't do much without a copy of the death certificate. The representatives from the "asset protection department" insisted that they had the right to take the funds because my husband's name was on the accounts.
The problem is that if we had the death certificate at the time of the initial contact, his name wouldn't have been on the accounts for them to take the funds. As we pushed further and explained the situation, they offered to return the funds if I agreed to take responsibility for the loan only in my husband's name. They tried to take advantage of my desperate situation and lack of funds.
We even considered this option to get my money back, but they were unwilling to give me a loan because they couldn't verify my income. We hadn't been able to submit anything to Social Security to start receiving income.
On December 29, we sent a formal letter of disagreement to the Asset Protection Department, appealing for a resolution. They gave us the same answers and claimed that the statement about rights of survivorship was incorrect. We referred them back to their Membership Agreement, which clearly stated the opposite. I hadn't signed the loan only in my husband's name, so it wasn't my responsibility.
The Membership Agreement does say that joint accounts can be held responsible for a defaulted loan, but at the time of his passing, the accounts would no longer have been in his name. Therefore, the funds wouldn't be available for them to take. Telhio took the funds from the accounts using a "loophole" where they received a verbal notification of death but couldn't remove his name without a physical copy of the death certificate. They used a verbal confirmation from the Franklin County Bureau of Vital Statistics as verification to take the funds.
It seems like they took advantage of the unique situation to secure funds before removing his name from the accounts. They didn't want to submit the full amount as a claim against his estate. It's disappointing that a bank that claims to care and prioritize its members' needs would behave this way. We sent another email on January 4, requesting the return of the funds, but we haven't heard back from them, and the funds haven't been returned.
