The American Cancer Society / Cancer.org unprofessional behavior

I love the American Cancer Society and you have helped me beyond anything I could hope for! I just don't want anyone else to get a woman named Catherine I talked to on the phone in late November/ early December.
I would have emailed earlier but have been getting scans and meeting doctors and I finally began chemotherapy and wanted to say I haven't been treated like this and hope to never have this happen again.
I called because I requested a flight for 5:30-8:30pm and it got scheduled for 5:30-8:30am that day on accident. I was working at the time and wouldn't be able to go then.
Catherine was rude to me and made me cry and said that ACS is only a non-profit and can only do so much for me. She said they'd see what they could do (I called 3-4 days before my flight as soon as I got the confirmation email. My appointments are on a different island and I had many in a short period because I am young and have very aggressive breast cancer).
An hour later a man called from a number I didn't recognize and said my flight had been changed and to use the same confirmation code.
I got to the airport that day and they said I didn't have a PM flight and I had missed the original AM flight. So being very poor my friend paid for it out of pocket thank goodness.
I think this unhappy woman Catherine had a friend call me and lie about my flight being changed, which is super crappy.
It is the worst feeling to be on your way to get an MRI and bone scan and port placement and arrive at the airport realizing a very angry person did something very awful to you.
Please do something about her. She doesn't have the compassion to work for an amazing organization like ACS.
Thank you for everything else. I have decided not to book my remaining flights with you nor do I call now, I go through other resources, because I don't want this to happen again.
It's unfortunate.

The American Cancer Society / Cancer.org commercial

How dare you sir a commercial about "beating" cancer. This is an insult to those fighting, survivors, relapse, and those suffering from the memory of a lost loved one.
I know a man who has relapsed 15 times. He did not, "used to have" cancer.
Alex Trebeck has just gone public with his relapse. He didn't "beat" it.
You should be ashamed of yourself.

The American Cancer Society / Cancer.org cancer ads

I realize you are trying to keep people from smoking but I find the cancer commercials featuring women with half a face and raspy voice to be quite disturbing. They air on many different programs over and over again everyday. If there is any way to take these commercials off the air I would greatly appreciate it. They give me nightmares. I think whatever group is targeted has gotten the message.

Lady on yelp posted that she used Crystal bay catering and guests also got sick

I read the raw data myself about Crystal Bay Caterer - I went on line for the Florida Health Department. The report is not gross, but it is concerning. If a Health Department inspector is onsite, you expect the management and staff to be on their best behavior. If this is their best day, what is their worse day. I also saw a more recent review on Yelp by User Barbara K @ Delray Beach Florida. It is posted online - it confirms what has already been said.

Check out Crystal Bay Catering Report on google search "Crystal Bay Caterers | Palm Beach County | Restaurant Inspections" - online on the Tallahassee Democrat. Most Careering companies get like 0 or 1 - this one gets 3 to 5 violations on a regular basis. Just do a general search like "Crystal Bay Caterer sanitation report” What gets me is that you have an inspector in your kitchen, you know he is watching you - for the past 5 years you know they always come and do an inspection in the spring about the same time, and they still catch them doing gross stuff. Makes you wonder what they do when they are not being inspected or during the summer or winter.

The American Cancer Society / Cancer.org mishandling on donations, covering up employee complaints

The local office of ACS mishandles money, both cash and checks, often having checks "show" up months after they are written by donors. Employees who try to follow corporate procedures are run off or fired. There is no one to turn to in the corporate offices who will help. Many, many good employees leave out of frustration. There is no way to pass on what is happening. You can complain to the fraud or whistleblowers hotline and nothing gets done. How can you expect to fix problems when you are allowing offices to get by with doing some of the very illegal things that are being done? How can you expect harassed employees who are trying to do the right thing help get the information to you when there is no one to report it to. Waiting 5-7 business days for anything to even get looked into is ridiculous and is part of the problem. HR is a joke. Ours person is friends with the management personnel who are causing the problems. It is covered up between our office and HR and no one knows. OR, and I hope that this is NOT the problem, corporate allows the cover ups to happen so that no one finds out what is going on. With employees being allowed to change policies on how and when money is being handled, and how private information is being passed around to people who shouldn't be getting it, how can it be changed the way that it is presently set up?

The American Cancer Society / Cancer.org awful experience

I am being denied the nicotine replacement medicine that the Cancer Society started me on two weeks ago. They tell me that I have to wait for my official callback from a "coundelor" before I can get more lozenges and even then it will be sent UPS so I will have to wait for a few days at best. They only gave me two weeks worth and the two weeks hsve past. My call is not for another four days. I think their program is an impersonal and compassionless sham designed to make the public think that they care.

The American Cancer Society / Cancer.org name change & reprisal

I went on line and donated some money to the ACS in good faith. I typed my birth name in as my recognition name. I say that so that you know it wasn't a joke name. for reasons unexplained to me by the ACS they after 3 months changed my name to anonymous. I felt insulted and embarassed and very angry. They only changed it on one page. I had donated to other pages and it remained for 10 days or so. Naturally I complained to them but they ignored my requests for an explanation. I called them 5 times and got the same story from each different person I spoke with. then they sent me a certified letter telling me that I was no longer welcome to participate in the walking event which I had signed up for and that I would not be allowed to even come and watch it. They booted me out of the system and told me not to call Email them or write or ever involve myself with their events again. They indicated that they did that because my constant complaining was interfering with their focus on their mission. Now you tell me They changed my name without my permission then I complain about it as I search for why and who did that to me and they boot me out for complaining that they changed my name against my will. They did refund most of my money so far. I'm still waiting for them to refund every red cent. So far they have not told me why or who did this mean spirited evil deed to me. They claim that their actions against me were consistent with their policies. Does anyone think that if that were true that is if they were right to change my name that they would refund the money? I call the action they took a "breach of the public's trust" I think that they wanted me to not participate and they anticipated that if they changed my name then I would get mad and complain and then they would supposedly have reason to boot me thats what I think. think about this: for no reason you smack a 3 yr old on the bottom and he cries then you spank him for crying. You cause a situation to occur then when some one reacts to that you retalliate against them for their reaction. Remember this is the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY that I am talking about. I only tried to do something nice for cancer victims everywhere and then the people in charge of collecting the donations decide that they don't like my name on their site as if I was some kind of a criminal even though I have never commited any crime of any kind. They really wasted their time when they told me to never get involved with them again. Do they think I would want to? Are they that stupid? I had donated over $1100 and was in the process of sending them more at least $1000 more, but look at this they lose that money plus anything I would have donated to them in the future and any one else that listens to me and decides maybe they need to do something else with their money. Too bad too sad. Sorry to all the breast cancer victims that get hurt by the trigger effect in play here.

The American Cancer Society / Cancer.org bad service

On Sep 30th 08 the people at the Lutz Chapter of the Florida Division of the American Cancer Society which to the best of my knowledge is headed by Cynthia Corbin cell number [protected] for no apparent reason changed my name of recognition from Jerry Tryon to Anonymous. I have asked them why and who made the change several times but they continued to ignore my request each time. They next on Oct 8th 08 informed me, in so many words, that since I complained about them doing that to me, then I was now booted from participating in the walk event held in Dade City Fl on Oct 25th 08. I assume that Since they must know that what they did was just as evil and mean spirited as if they had changed my name from a recognition name of Anonymous to my actual name of Jerry Tryon that is why they did refund my money but have not to my knowledge refunded the monies to my donors. What they did is similar to this example: for no reason you smack a 3 year old on the bottom the 3 year old cries then you spank the child for crying. I feel if they did something like this to me for legitimate reasons then A). why don't they tell me who did it and why did they do it, and B). Why did they return the money I donated? It should have been money destined to help patients in need. They sent a final notice signed by A person named Chris Drews he wouldn't tell me which office he worked out of but the letter told me something to the effect of that if I showed up at the event to even just watch it, they would escort me out of the place and they also told me to never call write or contact them again as if they needed to. I think the ACS does more good than harm but this was harmful to me and insulting as well as embarassing. I wish someone would write them and ask them why they did that to me and no body else. As I see it my name was given to me at birth and it belongs to me and it is my decision as to when it will and will not be made public. What did I do to the ACS to cause them to change my name which in turn caused me to complain which in turn caused them to boot me from the walking event that I wanted to participate in to honor my deceased mother who died from breast cancer 2 years ago.I want to know why they did the name change and who did it?Here's my complaint why won't they tell me? It is my contention that the American Cancer Society should be more than willing to clear this matter up with me and more importantly with the public at large. If they can get away with doing this to me then who's to say they won't do it over and over again? Whatever I did that made them so mad to do this should be revealed so that others will not dare to do what horrible thing I must have done to The ACS that caused them to refund donated in good faith money intended for victims of breast cancer everywhere. My "criminal intent" must have been quite awful. I think they owe it to the public to come clean on this. Afterall they are "THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY" WHOSE GOAL IS STAMPING OUT CANCER IS IT NOT?
