Dont waste your time and money these people are a joke they will lure you in with all the nice and fast talk. The are very unprofessional and fraudulent. Dont give them your FAFSA pin code no matter how nicely the ask for it. Seriously you will pay three times the amount it cost to go to a technical collage and they will get all their money in your name after you attending the course for only three months and its a 8 and 1/2 month course they dont give a dern about nothing but money and how well you can sell their Redkin products by the way that is the only way you can jump in this school, not by your experience and knowledge, but only by the amount of Redkin products you sell. Do your homework before going there one day because after one day of class you already owe them $3, 000 just for stepping a foot in the door no joke. The instructors that teach you are ex-convicts, ex-drug dealer, ex-drug users, and one teacher was demoted to office staff, because she got arrested for Grand Theft and Fruad over the weekend. Another teacher was fired because she slapped a student in the face. These people are getting away with government money, just by running monkey business. You cant take nothing into the school food, purses, personal items, it all get stolen with no action taken against the assailants. I have seen one student key another student car from front to back nothing done, because they have safety cameras, but unfortunately they dont record. What a joke this "school" is seriously.

I have a complaint, it has been brought to our attention that the students don't feel they are getting the education they signed and paid for. The facility is like a high school with students running around, acting like middle school, surfing the internet instead of attending the clients. Wet towels on the floors, combs being dropped and picked right up and used on a client. I have observed this behaviour every time I go in. So, in my opinion I feel the school itself is not teaching the students how to behave and learn as you know there is a big turn over and its not the same students. The instructors are not teaching them how to use products on the clients and in results hair is being damaged. I have spoke to an educator about this and feel nothing was accomplished.

I've witnessed the exact same thing in Anderson, IN. The educators act like children themselves. I felt bad for the student who was doing my hair. The "educator" came over to check my hair cut and chopped off a section and made one side shorter than the other. The student noticed it as she was doing it and the educator told her it was "fine" and that it was just the way the color was placed...placing the blame on the student. She dried it a bit, prior to the "educator" checking it, and it was perfect. Then all of a sudden after the educator "checks it" (and she, the educator, DID cut hair off the section) it's too short!? They make the mistakes and blame the students for it by saying, "they are just students...". I also overheard an "educator" telling a student to "go to the store accross the street and get the cheapest stuff they have" when they ran out of color processing stuff. The student then said something about them not having REDKEN products and the educator said, "it doesn't matter, just get the cheap stuff...". I mean seriously! What are we paying for if they're NOT using REDKEN products?! Doesn't that supposedly "damage" the hair? I also overheard an educator telling a student to transfer the cheap conditioner into a REDKEN bottle! The student said she didn't feel comfortable doing this because it wasn't REDKEN products and it was pretty much fraud and the educator told her, "they'll never know the difference. Just do it."

The entire salon was disgusting. There was filth everywhere and only MAYBE a handful of students cleaning. The rest were mostly sitting on their behinds talking and playing with each others hair. You could tell that the few students who were cleaning are the ones who truly care and go "above and beyond the call of duty". After getting a soda from the student lounge (which was full of childish students cursing and talking about drugs, drinking and sex), I walked past the pedicure chairs (disgusting and dirty) to look at the nail pollish. There wasn't any topcoat and there were two other students over there talking about how upset they were about how "they never supply us with the things we need...".

Needless to say, this school did not impress me at ALL! There were a handful of students who seemed to be dedicated to the education and trade...and one of those students was my stylist. But, sadly, there were more students acting like childish high school punks. The ONLY reason/way I would go back to this school is if I could have the stylist I had at this visit. She was sweet, polite, attentive, caring and a wonderful stylist. I know she will do very well once she graduates.

I will not name names but there was a long-haired blonde "educator" who walked around and acted like she was so much better than most of the people there. She was rude, fake and did not fool me one bit what-so-ever. She was not the "educator" who "fixed" my hair but she did the consultation. I did not like her or her attitude problem. This school will not last if it keeps people like her around. The woman in the chair next to me commented on how rude, short and snooty she was with her also. Anyway, I will end my comment here.

Thank you for "listening" to my ranting. Good luck with your visit to this school. I'm not giving the name of my stylist because I do not want her to be a target for the school. Take care & God Bless!

I am an educator at a small private school in Indiana and although I have only worked for the one company I do believe after reading these posts about this school and some on another company that the general consensus is that people have the same complaints about all of them. Trust me I had the same complaints as a cosmetology student and a lot of times even as an instructor but I believe it is safe to say that it isnt just one school or company it is 1. the fact that we as poeple are lazy, admit it if you have the option to play with eachothers hair or clean and not get paid or made to do it which would you choose. @. Beauty school is a basic education, I personally love to teach and I want to share my knowledge and experience but I didnt get that experience until I got it. My favorite quote to tell my students is "beauty school is just a band aid the real world will teach you how to stitch." I'm not saying that there aren't legitimate complaints but i am asking to stop and think about what your true complaint is and step outside the box to see if its worth working yourself up over or if its human nature.

I went to to saint Louis one. The owner and all the eduators and people who work under him are all money hungrey and don't give two ### about the students or people who come into the salon. They do anything to make a Couple houndred dollars. They have a fake loan company that charges students rediculous amounts of interest and all the money goes straight to the owners pocket. It's a joke. They taught us a total of 2 foil patterns and 2 ways to cut hair. DON'T GO TO THIS SCHOOL!

"Fake it til you make it" is a quote I hear almost daily at TSPA Fargo and we are the only TSPA endorsed by REDKIN. It seems as though it has the same problems as all the others and are just better at hiding it.

I go to The salon professional academy in Cincinnati, Ohio and wow everything I have read here is spot on. One of our main educators uses the fake it till you make it everyday, they are not good at faking it or do I feel i could make it after graduating. When I first started this school a few months ago we were allowed to use hair color and bleach on our mannequin but shortly after were told we were using to much product an took it away, and told us to use shaving cream and conditioner. AHH really hard to see what u have done when not able to use real products to practice. We also have this thing called a notty list and if you are a minute late or are sick on a saturday or there is a major ice storm on a saturday, you are unable to get any services from other students for two weeks which we have to pay for at a 50% discount. We are not taught much at all the educators are overwhelmed when there are more then 10 students on the floor and do not care what you do just as long as you are not bothering them, and are suppose to look busy at all times standing in front of your mannequin. When someone goes to complain which I have, we are told to stop acting like children and if we dont like it there is the door. I am a grown woman who decided to go into the beauty field and was told I would get a good education but they have failed in every way to do this. I have made a complaint with state board but am not sure that will accomplish much. I do not feel we should be liable to have to pay full price for such a bad education but once that contract is signed you cannot do anything and they do not care that you are not satisfied.

TSPA is an amazing group of nationwide schools and the only school endorsed by Redken. The quote "fake it until you make it" is poignant. Unfortunately it seems some of the students were not taught what it truly means. It simply means look and act the part until you actually get to the level you want to be. And as far schools money hungry they could commit to teaching the students how much money can be made in the billion dollar beauty industry. As far as using shaving cream instead of color at state board you use shaving cream instead of color so it is beneficial.

I agree! I attend the school in Lewisville and have never seen teaching or lack of quite like it! I am seriously considering droping the Esthetician program. I have been in class for a little under two months and we are hurried through everything and not being taught. I could of done better with an online program because I am basically teaching myself!

The school is disorganized, money hungry and unprofessional. They pick favourites and talk to students like children, they're condescending and just want you to make them money. If you don't know something too bad, and the director is the worst. She gets services done during school, could care less about the students and is rude. This is not a quality school, I was sold a lot of bs and when I got there it was drama after drama and they eff you over and take your money. Wpg-MB

The salon professional academy in Howell NJ is hands down the worst experience of my entire life. I worked 2 jobs while getting my Bachelor's degree prior to deciding to go to esthetician school, and 4 years at a strict University was a quarter of the stress compared to my 4 months at this trash school. Don't even bother. Teachers hate their lives, have zero passion, and the students they attract are trash. I have never felt less motivated and more depressed in my entire life. It is not worth the time or money.

When 100's of well trained students graduate from TSPA in Fargo,ND every year, and the salons and spas rave about how good they are, it makes you wonder if maybe the 1 or 2 people leaving the comments above were the problem? I've been involved with TSPA in Fargo for 6 years, and have seen nothing like was described above. Each student has a locker, so I'm thinking if you lock your belongings in it they would not get stolen. There are no ex-con educators. The educators are very well trained and have many years of salon/spa experience. The security cameras all work. We do have an unhappy student occasionally. Nobody here claims to be perfect, and with the large number of students it is inevitable that there will be incidents between students. The fact is, most of the issues students have here are caused by a few individuals who do not take their education seriously.
