Worst experience ever
Work number will not update their records, even if the employer has. They will not help in any way shape or form. I do not have 30 days to wait for the dispute. The website does not take my password, I have to do a new one everytime. The phone system hung up on me 4 times. The woman at the other end, just told me that it was 30 days for a dispute and it was up to the employer... who has done their job.

Terrible service
My EDR form wasnt generating and couldn't find any information or help online. Called the phone number I found and it just kept telling me to go back to the website. I was eventually able to find a way to contact them through email but they take FOREVER to get back a simple reply. I don't get another reply until the day after, AFTER I email them 30mins after their last email. It's been a week now and they havent been able to solve my issue. So far, we've only communicated 4 times in our email conversation in ONE WEEK!
Finally after a week, i tried generating my EDR form again and it finally worked but... the information on it was wrong and I now have to contact them again and go through the entire process above AGAIN! Absolutely unbelieveable.
Desired outcome: Better and faster customer service
Employment verification
[protected] from 230pm-545pm
I tried to get employment verification for housing. I was on the phone and online for over 3 hours and still got nowhere. Online keeps declining my request saying my information is incorrect. It takes an act of congress to get anyone on the phone. Even after going thru all the prompts to get my own employment verification for myself, at the end it says you cant even do that. This is a total waste of time and my employers money. I will highly suggest they cancel this and go elsewhere or move employment verification in house. This service is crap. Even when you get thru to speak to a rep it says no one is available. 10 thumbs down rating for me
Desired outcome: All I want is my employment verification THATS IT!!!!
Employment Verification
I work in logistics, verifying previous employment. I have attempted to work with this company on multiple occasions. Many DOT regulated companies use this service. The Wok Number will not issue any DOT information for candidates, leaving the requesting company not only out of money paid for the service, but also finable for not complying with DOT regulations. Also, if you try to partner with The Work Number, they want video of the inside of your establishment. THIS DIRECTLY VIOLATES THE FAST PASS AND BORDER CONNECT CONTACTS, LEAVING YOU AT RISK TO LOSE CREDENTIALS. A complete scam.
Desired outcome: If you're going to work with DOT regulated companies, do your research and change your policies accordingly.

Employee Verification
I am a former employee of FedEx Express and have been trying to get my employment verified by a potential employer since 05/15/2023. They have filed for verification with this AWFUL company (theworknumber) and said they have received no response and if they don’t hear anything back by today they will “have to move on”. I want to know who at this company plans on paying my bills since I work in the trucking industry and can’t get certain jobs that match my previous salary unless my work history is confirmed. I’m looking forward to the continued bad business by this company AND FedEx Express so I can SUE AND PURSUE lost wages as a result of severe incompetence. If you can’t do right by your employees and be professional maybe you should re-evaluate your business model.
Desired outcome: My employment verified by theworknumber ASAP
Employment Verification
This is the worst service possible. I'm trying to verify employment for a company that is paying for your service. The website is horrible and the UI is by far the worst I've seen or experienced. Try calling in to the many different numbers they have and just when you think you are making progress they tell you to hit 1 to connect with someone, but the button prompt doesn't register. After doing this 3 times they tell you that you've made too many errors and just hang up. They make this service as difficult as possible for people to access and then try to charge employers up the wazoo for the service. I don't know why any employer would want to pay for this absolute trash.
Won't help me
I am looking for an apartment which is hard as hell to find now a days. I found 1 but they need my employment info. My job won't fill anything out and refers us to the work number. The apartment complex won't use the work number because they charge for that info.. so ok ill pay for it. We spent 2 hours on hold yesterday trying to get this info only to ne told they can't give me my own info? WTF? It's my Info.. so now me and my daughter and 3 grandkids will continue to live in my car praying for something else to come along. Its not an issue of money there really just is nothing to rent around here. I feel like this whole thing has violated some kind of ACT. This company does more harm then they think!
Desired outcome: For this company to just stop existing. Let them be homeless
This is the worst verifier company I ever interacted with. I tried to register to get approved for an apartment and this is what I was promoted with. Specious emails and weird numbers I have never had. After pressing three times that non of them were ever my number and emails. I was account banned for 48 hours. Customer service was hell bent on gaslighting me that I was entering my information from my work company wrong even through my HR representative sent me everything they have on my file.
Yeah I had that too. None of the numbers or emails were recognized. .
The company I work for creates our accounts with the work number when we are hired and provides instructions on how to log in. However, the information used to verify my identity when logging in for the first time is incorrect. I have been trying for a week now to just get help fixing this issue. The information cannot be changed by my employer but the customer service representatives (as there have been 3 so far) just keep trying to get me to log in or register. I have done this so many times that now my account is locked. When I asked to speak to a supervisor they said they would call me back. I asked if they would like to verify my callback number they said don't worry about it they will call you today. Obviously that did not happen. I have made it clear that I need this fixed immediately in order to close on my mortgage but nobody has any clue how their system works or how to troubleshoot. Their "customer service" while polite are essentially useless.
Desired outcome: The ability to access my own information.
While I can hardly call this resolved I have no further options for recourse. My company points the finger at the work number and they do the same in return. I am at a loss.
Asinine website design/no customer service
It's simple. I gladly quit working for Whole Foods (terrible company to work for) appx 30 days ago. I'm in the process of purchasing a home. They need copies of all my paystubs. Not surprisingly, wholefoods has denied me any access to my data. Going to the store in person and speaking to two different managers, they told me I need to contact www.theworknumber.com. I needed to provide these documents to the lender rep today. So I tried going online on my phone. The website is designed in such an asinine manner that you will have to click through several pages and the same button that says "register" or "sign-up" nearly a half-dozen times. When it asks for employer info, I type in Whole Foods, Whole Foods Market, Amazon, The Whole Foods Market, and every other version of wholefoods one can fathom. Each time the website said "no employer found."
So I went home and tried doing it on my PC. Finally it recognized wholefoods and allowed me to enter my personal information to register. Unfortunately, after a dozen attempts to register, I kept getting the "failed to register" pop up. I click on "why?" on the pop up and it claims this could be because my email or phone number was registered as suspicious.
I'm used to most websites being designed in an asinine manner, especially if it is a government website, but this site is especially ridiculous. So is wholefoods. I tried calling the number on the website page, but of course it is only a machine.
Desired outcome: Fire the page designers. Start over from scratch. Use some common sense this time.
Customer service
We've used the work number for 15 years at my business. During that time they have continued to have the worst customer service of any business I've ever dealt with. If you think your phone company or cable provider is bad, you just have no clue as to what poor customer service is available at the work number. We've had an account for over 15 years and cannot get people on the phone in any department. Our representative will not return our emails of phone calls. They charge us for temporary employment returns, while claiming they will filter those out or refund charges if they are temp and they will not do either without threatening legal action and we are an attorney firm. If there was any viable alternative to their service these people would be out of business.
If you have to do business with this company, be sure you're blood pressure is under control.
Desired outcome: They don't care and there is no fixing that, the entire culture needs to be cleansed.
VOE
I am a caretaker for my son who lives with me full time in NJ. I work through 2 different programs at 2 different rates and hours. (1st is PPP - Personal Preference Program @$13/hr 148 hrs 15min/mo, 2nd is through DDD - Division of Developmental Disabilities @$25/hr 25hrs a week) These 2 programs pay me through one payroll company (Public Partnership) biweekly which use this site for verification. I am now buying my first home and cannot close because the information on this site is wrong and these 2
Jobs are not separated. I have filed 2 disputes and was told it would take up to 30 days to fix. I go on every day to check and there is always something different on it but info is wrong. Today it says I make $6.50/hr. Yesterday was $25/hr but the other job disappeared. Public Partnership refuses to sign the forms for this VOE and constantly directs them back to this ridiculous site. In the meantime, I have to get out of my rental and can’t because of this ridiculous situation. I cannot be homeless with my disabled son and need this rectified ASAP so we can move out by August 15th 2022. Please help!
Desired outcome: Get my information displayed correctly
Employment Verification
I am trying pull Employment Data Report. But unsuccessful registering to the website. I have attached the screenshot of the error. I tried to call [protected] many times. phone options keep saying one to another. Final no results.
Sorry, We are unable to log you in.
Your account is temporarily disabled.
Accounts may be disabled when you attempt to log in with incorrect information or fail to complete a security challenge.
Please wait and try again later.
Desired outcome: Companies stop outsourcing the employment verification service to these kind companies who are un professional and don't have good outcomes
Employment date verification
Called 800 number, a employee asked for all pertinent information, (name, phone number, date of birth, etc.) only to tell me they could not help me directly,
they could however walk me through the online process of registering.
After several attempts and re-registering with 2 different passwords, the system continued to tell me the User/Passcode combination I entered where wrong.
The employee confirmed they are there basically there as a sounding board for their incompetent company, and they have no solution for there obvious IT problems. Sooooo frustrating. Spent about 30 minutes on this, what a waste of time. I would have thought a company backed by Experian would have been
more fruitful.
Unable to view or verify employment information
Your system is not working and disables when attempting to register to verify employment from a former employer. This is a serious concern as this information is need for legal purposes and the only way to obtain this information if the employer is using your services. And waiting for 1-2h trying to speak to someone is abhorrent, especially when the result is more transfers and wait time.
Horrible Customer Service- Slow Setting up Verifiers
I have been waiting a week for log in credentials to verify employment for a client that is purchasing a home. I have called the Work Number everyday requesting the status of my credentials and get the run around with no resolution. No one at this company can help. Supervisors fail to call back. The customer service is a joke. Please send me my login information so I can pay you hundreds of dollars for an employment verification.
Desired outcome: I need my log in credentials
Verifying employment
The problem that I'm having is that I can't figure out how to use this service to verify work history. I have an applicant here that claims to have worked at Orange Coast Memorial, when I called them they gave me the number to the work number and the code number, I have been around and around with the system but I can't figure out how to get the information I need. If I have join this thing and pay to get this information I'm going to pass on this applicant. and it sucks that he won't get a job because you can figure out how to help. As far as I can tell this is a terrible service.
Desired outcome: finding an easy way to get the information I need.
Logging In
I need verification of my employment in order to refinance my house. When I filled out the information for a new registrant, I was told I would be sent a code number. The options they gave were neither my email address nor my phone number. No there is no way I can create a profile for my mortgage company to refinance my house and I am in really big trouble if this doesn't happen.
Desired outcome: Fix this ASAP. My information is due Friday, Oct. 22/2021
The whole company is incompetent
I have tried for years to deal with this idiot company. They are completely worthless! There is no need to even use there services because none of them work and their employees are just as clueless as the people calling for help.
Once you waste your time setting up to register to use it, it will tell you the user id or password you just set up wont work. So once you reset it and finally get in you'll get a message that it doesnt happen often but youll have to copy off a page and mail it in to them. Are you serious? I'm here to get my information but now I have to call back to get the help of some incompetent person who knows less than I do?
Oh and here's the kicker, if you put in another company you've worked for, you have to re-register all over again. So, if you have had 15 employers you register 15 times! How can this be a company someone actually uses. A baby could come up with a more effective system in this technical era.
Desired outcome: I want them to go out of business. No I'm not joking.
Not easy to do business with...not easy to obtain the one thing they exist to do...get the information you need.
TheWorkNumber.com website is one of the least intuitive, user friendly websites I have seen so far. If you are an organization seeking to verify information or an individual seeking to verify your own, and you land on this site, it's like being dropped in the middle of a maze. Good luck finding what you need quickly. I rather bother someone in the HR department than send employment verifiers on a wild goose chase. No employment verifier has accepted "the work number" as an option for me before because of this, rendering their services useless.
Desired outcome: Pay attention to your website and phone number (it sends you in a loop without an exit)
TheWorkNumber.com
When a business A partners with the work number and another business (b) needs a verification of employment to hire a prior employee of the company that does partner with them(business A) they want either the candidate or the other incoming company business b) to pay a fee...so what you telling me is that they are putting a financial hinderance on someone getting a job!
How is it the candidate who is looking for work or the incoming company who is trying to help this persons financial responsibility. It is unethical!
If the work number wants to charge fees to the companies they partner with them fine buttons is absolutely wrong
Desired outcome: Charge fees for the companies that work with them not for people trying to find work or the companies that are trying to help people
Companies paying to receive employment verifications
I don't believe this service is beneficial to the companies needing verification or to the employee. It cost the company to verify, therefore the company is not going to verify in most cases and puts us at risk. The employee misses out if the company will not verify because they will skip over that person. This was not a smart way for companies to go just to get out of doing their own verifications (have a script if worried about liability).
ATTENTION ALL BUSINESSES - DO NOT use the work number for your employee verifications. It's the worst company to deal with - on every level. Right now, I've been waiting on the phone for over an hour to get a representative to help with an escalated request over a week ago. This is my fourth call because I keep being told that someone will contact me and once a case is created, I just have to wait.
Well, truer words have never been spoken. When I actually DO get someone on the phone, they tell me there's nothing they can do. This is a simple VOE that I'm told is in the system, but I can't pull it and they won't send it to me. So so frustrating. This happens EVERY time I need to use this company. I dread it.
