Judith Gaarder is a TIAA Member, as near as we can ascertain as an individual and as the Trustee of the Gaarder Family Trust. Judith is 90 and lives in assisted living. She receives a monthly distribution. Kim Hoppie is the Durable Power of Attorney. That document was mailed to TIAA in Charleston along with the TIAA Notarized confirmation the Kim is the DPA, delivered approximately 4-6 months ago. Since then Judith and Kim have been seeking a statement of her account. We have no idea if the account has a cash balance and how much. Or, is it an annuity that operates like Social Security. If the latter, we cannot get a gross distribution amount before deductions. Roughly 6 lengthy calls with the TIAA customer service representatives have provided ZERO answers.
