TM Travel review: 218 Bus

We waited for the 17:33 bus from Bakewell, which never turned up. The 17:55 didn't turn up either. I called Traveline, who said it was due to staff sickness, but other people have complained that missed buses happen a lot. It is utterly disgusting that this service seems to continually let travellers down. Were it not for the X71 turning up at 18:20, we would have likely been stranded, or had to call a taxi. This would have been billed to TM travel, so TM travel is lucky not to have a £30 bill for every passenger that was waiting for the 218 bus by the end. I had a return ticket for the 218, but had to pay for a single on the X71, which was almost as much as the return! While this is credit to TM travel for cheap bus fares, it means absolutely nothing when the buses don't turn up! This experience has completely tainted any future travel to Bakewell or Chatsworth, and I certainly won't be paying for a return ticket if I have to use a TM travel bus again for the journey!
