For over 20 years, I have been directly impacted by countless unwanted incidents at yorkwoods library. I feel that these are something that keep recurring, never ending & our ' able to de-escalate or deal with all possible incidents' library staff would ignored, pay no or little attention to, simply actionless & play mute, get annoyed if being approached for help, being insensitive & indifferent, & you get the idea.
Personally, I had been physical & more more often verbally assaulted unprovoked by aggressive or otherwise who knows what is wrong with them people inside yorkwoods library. Countless incidents people were 'allowed' to swear at me & shout at me with personal insulting comments about my age, race or appearance, even in the present of library staff/supervisor. Multiple times for over 20 years staff largely ignored & played blind, deaf or mute when I approached them as a result of aggressive/disruptive behavior/excessive on-going loud noises targeted at me or around me. I guess it is much easier for these yorkwoods library staff to tell me to move, blame me for complaining, to be silent like most others as they do not want taking up risks or being confrontational. These library staff, in my opinion, are simply reluctant to act in any manner so they would avoid much hassles themselves & of course also very much depending on their perception of who & how safe for them if they need to deal with any complaints in addition to their near nill competency or ability to deal with complaints like their much higher paid what have you managers, directors, or even the city librarian & the library board.
This is only a small tiny condensed description of my unfortunate personal encounters at yorkwoods library for decades & I am only a no good small potato who the toronto public library bureaucracy can oppress & bully & they are the ultimate powerful & pretentious side
Document all the incidents you've experienced at Yorkwoods Library, including dates, details, and any staff members involved. File a formal complaint with the Toronto Public Library's central administration, clearly outlining the verbal and physical assaults, as well as the staff's inaction. Request a thorough investigation and policy changes to improve safety and responsiveness at the library. If no action is taken, escalate the issue to the Toronto City Ombudsman or human rights organizations to address the ongoing harassment and the library's failure to ensure a safe environment. Keep records of all communications.
