I found this company on better business bureau's web site as accrediated company i called brian to get my honda passport transmission rebuild he quoted me 1297.00 including lab our tax towing and parts i sent the for repairs . got call from the shop that it will be more than 2500.00 i called brian he said he can't do my car in 1297.00 has no control over the shop. i told him not to work on my car and return my car, he asked for 500.00 dollars if i want my car back i was very upset called him and he was not helping me out had to pay to get my car back and there was no work performed on the car. i was ripped off and this is a scam please be away from this company. i called better business bureau to complaint but no help at all.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I too a was ripped off by transmissionciti. I filed a complaint with better business, but probably to no avail. You were lucky to pay only $500 to get your car back. I was quoted $1600 for my trans. After endless phone calls, took 2 wks. to hear from them & then informed it would cost $3400.00 to have my trans rebuilt...because its an Audi.. its a 1998 audi. didnt want to put that kind of money into it. But they knew it was an audi when they gave the price of !1600.00 and towed it to the shop. I said not to do the work, costed too much, I was then informed i would have to pay $1500.00 for towing, storage, etc. I had no choice but to pay for the trans & then they ripped both cv boots & now wont replace for free. Was their fault. will give me 25% off--- are you kidding me? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY_ TRANSMISSIONCITI- they are SCAM ARTISTS
I had my transmission done by this company 2 years ago. After they quoted me 1200 they called back and said i needed hard parts which equaled a total of 3000, i was stuck i had to get it fixed, than i asked the guy at the shop for a reciept and its said $999.99 was only 1000 dollars which i paid to the transmission shop anyways. So they scammed me out of 2000 dollars.
Thanks! I looked up a Trans City in Scottsdale AZ that had an A+ rating with the better business bureau. I asked the guy if that was his main office. He said "No, we're in Oklahoma" So I searched that up and came across your posts. I told the guy on the phone that I would not be doing business with his company after all. He told me they had thousands of shops and of course some people were going to be unhappy and he continued to try to make his sale. I informed him that ALL of the complaints said the same thing! And that meant that no matter what line of "We're wonderful... [censored]" he was trying to sell me, I'm pretty sure these complaints were the way they actually did business. I'll take the car to the mechanic I know and suck up the two grand repair bill...
Same story... $1297 quote... and a $3100 bill (Hard Parts) after they already had my car, and had the transmission torn out of it, so even if I wanted to go elsewhere, I would have to pay for the "work" already performed. On a side note, I made this very difficult on them, and on the shop performing the work. Due to this experience, the shop is no longer doing business with them.
Right at this moment transmission citi is scaming me told me the same thing 1297.00. Then called with a price of 3400 and after many complaints. They went to 2500. on a car not worth the price.
Please people don't use these guys they are the worst.
My price was also 1297.00, Tyce told me it would take four days to be repaired two days to diagnose and two days to fix.. They towed my car and I called him after five days and he told me the van would need hard parts and that is why it is taking so long. After 7 days I called him back he said he would look into it, and let me know. He called me back and told me he would have the information tomorrow. Eleven days later I called the shop myself and they said they took it on test ride did not think there were any problems with transmission. So over a $1000 in car rental costs later I took my car home. The next day I broght to service station 10 minutes later he diagnosed my transmission and found two problems. I emailed him the information and told him I was not happy with what went on and no responce.
yup i was quoted for a 1500 rebuild on my dodge ram 1500 total came out to $3200 it would have been much smarter and better to have bought a remanufactured transmission that would have come with a 6 year 100, 000 mile warranty and only cost $2000. there good at what they do watch out. i work at scott honda of west chester, should have known better and 5 months in only 2 thousand miles it bucks between some gears i checked the transfluid level, it was 3 inches past the max marker and they put the transcoder on crooked. thanks cottman transmissions in lansdale and transmission citi. i'll report back on my claim that i am going to file right now. my suggestion if you like the car enough to keep it and spend $2000 get a remanufactured transmission. warranties are much better and rebuild transmissions have a low reliability rating in the long term. good luck if you got scammed or took
i am so glad i looked this place up and found all of you guys comments.sorry about all of your problems, but you guys have saved me so much money!they say karma is hell, but it never comes fast enough for people like this.i have a mitsubishi eclipse and was quoted $1387.i thought it sounded WAY too good to be true.my mama always said 'if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.'she's always right, dang it.but i hope all of you guys get your problems straightened out.
Thanks to all of you I was able to avoid getting scammed. I called and spoke to a good natured fellow named Kevin. He was really slick, using an unassuming Minnesota accent. He quoted me the price of $1300 to rebuild my transmission. I was stoked! I finally got the money together to get the work done and scheduled the tow to the shop. That's when everything went downhill. While my truck was in tow I got a phone call from Kevin at transmission citi. He called to let me know that he had sent me an email that I needed to print out and sign in order to get the ball rolling on the rebuild. That night when I got home I printed the email and read it. It basically you sign away all of your rights to these people. Long story short I went to the repair shop, paid the $125.00 towing fee and found a reputable company. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! If you think that you will beat the odds with this company do yourself a favor and try and find any good independent reviews of Transmission Citi.
P.S., I wish I could post a copy of the contract they want you to sign but it's in pdf and I don't know how to copy and paste it on here.
All these complaints are on the Shop it self not transmission citi there is no Magic Crystal ball to look into your transmission to know whats wrong with it either people
they use unsold transmission shop time they are Authorized Independantly Owned Shops which Transmission Citi dont have Control over and will be Terminated if there is Wrong doing .
I work for a transmission shop and I can tell you for sure that we don't get too many 'happy' customers. Transmission repairs are complicated and usually expensive and almost always come up at the worst possible time. The best you can hope for is that you'll spend a lot of money just to get back to where you started - having a car to get around in. Not a nicer, prettier car with a better sound system - just the same old car that you need to get to work, etc.
Even when I do a great job, my customers are NEVER happy because they could have used that money for a vacation, season tickets etc. So if you don't hear great reviews about ANY transmission shp, that could be the reason why.
I don't know about this company that everyone seems to hate, but no matter who you deal with, here are some tips that could save you money and aggrevation:
1) GET A QUOTE. ask the tech or the writer how much they charge for a complete rebuild - even before you know if you need it or not. Ask them to put it in writing and if they hesitate FLEE AT ONCE. GO ELSEWHERE.
2) ASK ABOUT WARRANTY. Get a copy of the Warranty BEFORE you get the repairs done. Read It.
3) USE YOUR INSTINCTS. If a tech or writer is trying to convince you that there's really nothing wrong with your transmission and they can fix it for a few dollars, they are probably just trying to soak you for bigger repairs later. How do they know what's wrong until they look ? When I talk to a customer I tell them ALL the possibilities. Sometimes they never call back because some other guy gave them some false hope with phony promises and they went for it.
4) BE WITH IT. Most mechanics will get cranky or even nasty if you look over thier shoulder while they're working. So, let them get cranky - who cares ? Its your car and your money. If they tell you there are parts that need to be replaced, ask to see them. Take pictures if you can and let them see you do it. I get customers like that all the time and its annoying but in the end its okay because they know exactly what work I did and why. If the shop won't allow you to inspect their work it probably means they're hiding something.
5) BE NICE TO THE TECHNICIAN. Remember, we're human too. I didn't cause your transmission to fail. Go yell at the iron nuts and bolts that caused your problems. I'm not going to do a better job if you yell at me. The problem IS WHAT IT IS. All I can do is fix it - as good as any tech you'll ever find. So, if you come around and its early in the day I take my coffee with just a little milk - no sugar. If its the end of the day a Pabst would be fine, thanks.
I am so glad I found this site. I just got a quote for $1397.00 lifetime warrantee and was about to have my car towed from the shop it is in now. By reading this I have cancelled everything with this company. Thanks again. The shop I'm with is slow but credible and the quote is around $2000 with a 1 year warrantee. AAMCO
Horrible, horrible people! Unfortunately, I did not find this site until after my horrible experience with these people. I too was victim to this scam. The same story as everyone else. Same scummy people too - Larry, Kevin, Bobby. I was quoted the same amount of $1297 for a rebuild and was convinced to pay a $890 deposite and then 2 weeks later when they had diagnosed my transmission, they told me it would be cheaper to get a refurbished one because there was too much "hard part" damage and the price doubled to a total of $2877. But what they were not aware of is that I actually went down to the local shop to see with my own eyes what was damaged and the shop manager and technician said there was no "hard part" damage and was a simple rebuild. With their statement and the help of this website, I was able to get my bank to return that $890 deposite and they are now looking at my situation as fraud. I was also able to get the repairs done directly with the shop. They are now calling me after 3 weeks of no word and I have not returned any calls. I don't understand how they can continue to do this to people, especially with the economic crisis we are all going thru right now. My complaint will not stop here, I have already reported them to the FTC and will report them to the attorney generals office. Karma's a ###!
PEOPLE DONOT USE TRANSMISSIONCITI THEY WILL TRY TO WIN YOU WITH THE LOW PRICE AND ONCE YOU ACCEPT THEIR TOW THEY WILL TELL YOU SIGN THE CONTRACT DONT DO IT .THEY TOLD ME THEY WILL CHARGE ME 1497 FOR THE TRANSMISSION BUT ONCE THEY GET YOUR VEHILCE THEY TELL YOU THAT VEHILCE HARD PARTS ARE BAD.IT WILL BE ANOTHER 1000 FOR THE HARD PARTS.DONT TRUST THEM GO DOWN AND VEHILCE NOW DONT TRUST THESE ###
I also just got caught by what appears to be the "bait-n-hook" - $1297..."just place a deposit of $890"...then quoted $2600 as a total due to $1300 in additional hard-parts damage.
One of the reps at Trans, proceeded to ask me for an additional deposit of approx. $277 to be "out of the picture" and the remaining $1300+ to be paid to the shop that was repairing the vehicle.
Here's the eye-opener: the deposit of $277 had to be placed in either a Chase or Bank of America account because allegedly, they had an issue with credit card companies...why do you think there were issues with the credit card companies?
This DEFINITELY warrants an INVESTIGATION by THE FEDS!
Well, I to became a victim of this company by way of 3rd party. I'm telling you this story to maybe get some help or information from one of you. My oldest daughter is about to finish her 2 year of college. Ofcourse she thinks she already grown up and can make her own decisions. In as a few words I can this became a real nightmare. Unknown to me my daughter was having a problem with the transmission in her 1998 Honda Accord(Dad' old car which he gave to her). So instead of calling for advise she went to the internet, don't get wrong the internet is great, there's just crooks you have to be ware of. She landed on TransmissionCiti website called the rep who she said was very nice and bought a so called overhaul plus hard parts for $1297.00. They emailed or faxed her an agreement with credit card information. Long story short I finally got a call when the overhaul became $2900.00. My daughter was hestarical. Daddy they cheated me. What do Dad's do with daughters. They say that's okay honey, Daddy will fix it. My wallet fixed it. Tried calling these guys there comment was you're not the customer and would hang up on. We got the car back and my daughter is happy. Not Dad, he is pissed. Now here is where I need some help---this so called contract I would love to read it and how they screw people. My daughter can't seem to find it and turds at Transmission Citi say sorry bud. Can you believe this. So if any of you could email me a copy of this so called contract. I want to read it myself and then may get legal advise. Ofcouse if there is any personal info on it please to be afraid to remove it. My email address is hotdog196852@yahoo.com
Thank you for your help, James in California
I got the quote, I got this website and now I am thankful to you! I feel sorry for you guys.
Same [censor] happened to me thanks to the bad reviews i was able to back out before signing the contract. It is all a scam im lucky i got away, cancelled on time. I was quoted 1297 and i asked a few times if that was it Joyce said yes it was extra if hard parts were damaged. Then i get a contract asking for 1000 deposit and in small letters it stated that the deposit did not go towards the removal, teardown, and installation. Then i called the [censor] (JOYCE) and questioned her the extra money for removal, teardown, and installation and she then said that was extra. I asked her why she didnt tell me that from the beginning and she kept going around my question. So i told that [censor]EN [censor] i was on my way to pick up my vehicle as we were speaking and she said she was sorry it didnt work out. Prior to that she told me she had already ordered the parts i told her i didnt care that i never signed a contract. I m thankfull i was not another victim of theirs. [censor] TRANSMISSION CITI AND TO JOYCE THE [censor] WHO TRIED SCAM WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND AND ITS GOING TO BITE YOU IN THE [censor] SLUT!
Wish I had found this site earlier. Just left from paying 350.00 to get my car back. I was quoted 1197.00 to rebuild my transmission. Shortly after towing my car and SUPPOSEDLY conducting a diagnostic, I received an email stating that i needed to make a deposit of 892.41 before the shop could remove my transmission to assess hard part damage. I told them that I was not going to pay a deposit before the work was done. This was a red flag because the deposit was over half of the quoted price of 1197.00which is unusual in any business transaction. I also told them that I will not make a deposit on a job when I don't even know what the end total price would be because supposely they could not tell me that until they removed the transmission to inspect hard parts. I SMELLED A RAT and went to pick up my car. The shop charged me 350.00 for towing and diagnostic, which is part of the transmissionciti SCAM and their business relationship with the shops doing the work. Note: when i went to pick up my car, i noticed a price listing on the wall stating that a diagnostic cost 98.00.
I was also ripped off and in the process of finding a lawyer to filing a class action law suit. Logon to www.Whois.com and insert transmissionciti in the search engine. This will identify the website owner and address of the company. Then log on to Denton County Appraisal district for property description. I have just starting researching this information and will update you on my progress. Does anyone know how to find a customer list for this company?
Working together will end this scam.

First of all...they only accept CASH deposit into their bank account, they don't tell you this upfront. Also, the deposit is non-refundable and is required prior to opening your tranny and repairing it, not upfront about this either. This price is between $890-1100 approx.
Please read the other complaints, my situation is going much like theirs (not good and not cheap).
If you've already contracted with them, you can't get your vehicle back until they get their money. Then you will have to pay for the shops costs, which will be another $200-400. The deposit is for Tranone not the shop!
Lastly, the shop is not allowed to talk to you about; the cost, the problem, or the repair that is needed.
DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!
THEY ARE A SCAM!

I was scammed as well. They now call themselves Tranone, however they called me and transmission citi showed up on my caller ID. Quoted 1097 and had to pay 3047.27
Why can't we get together to stop this company for ripping people off. Has anyone talk to the attorney US general office about this DECEPTIVE and MISLEADING business practice? These people must be stopped!
