Severe hail storm in May 2022
Severe hail storm in May 2022. Called my home insurance company and they scheduled a roof inspection. Roof got inspected 6 weeks later and they only offered partial replacement. Had second inspections in September by roofing company and insurance rep, both said whole roof needed replacement. All houses in my neighborhood (same age) got new roofs. It's October now, 5 months later, and I still haven't heard back from multiple emails or calls. The snow is already falling and my roof is damaged with no solution. I've been really patient but I deserve a response from the insurance company.

On September 1st, I filed a homeowners claim because of a water leak that messed up my basement ceiling and caused black mold under the kitchen floor. The whole process was terrible. They told me to just take pictures of the ceiling damage and under my sink. I'm not a pro with my phone camera, so it was a struggle. They never bothered to send an adjuster to see the damage in person, but they decided based on the pictures I sent that it would only cost $1200 to fix. Obviously, I got an estimate and it turned out the repairs cost around $40,000 for the damages and some money for the ruined stuff directly below where the ceiling fell. The insurance company only set aside $200 for all of that. Universal said they had 10 days to make a decision, but they didn't say anything about going over that. Every time I sent in a bill for the work done (like getting rid of the mold and renting a dehumidifier), they took forever to decide and I always had to argue with them on the phone to get it done. This whole job should've taken no more than a month to finish. My renewal was on Jan 14th and I planned to switch insurance companies because of the awful service. But when Universal found out, they kept dragging their feet on every invoice, sometimes taking 2 weeks to do anything (way longer than their supposed 10-day limit). If they had finished the work on time, I could've switched companies. But now they raised my rates by $1400 a year and I had no choice but to renew with them. Finally, the work is done and they say they sent a final check. The bill is almost $10,000, but they sent me a check for recoverable depreciation (loss of personal items) and said it was the final bill. It was off by almost $6,000. I sent them an invoice for the final bill for mold removal 3 months ago, but they never sent it, even after I called. I really want to get out of this company!
