US Bank has never been my first choice for a bank and never will be. However, several years ago I had to get an alternative loan from them to continue my second degree studies. I was going to grad school, but now things have changed. Yes I have to start paying loans and we have been. but because of recent financial difficulties, I have been late in paying them. I have talked to them repeatedly, explaining I am unemployed and looking for work. no luck yet. My husband is employed and helping when he can even though he is catching up with his bills.
Paying back loan is important and I was able to get a hardship deferment. But now that is up and they want their money. I have blocked their calls, then they go and call a family member who has just had a stroke, because we have refused to talk to US Bank. This family member is not the co-signer, but a reference. They had no right to call this family member. I contacted them again, but US bank will not budge. We still cannot pay the amount. I would be happy if we could get lower payments, even.Anyway.US bank has rude reps and harassing us by phone and we are trying to work together but no results.

Actually...it sounds like you aren't trying to work with them. And, yes, by applying for any loan with any bank, you do give consent for the lender to contact the person of reference in the situation that you cannot/refuse to be contacted directly. It sounds like the bank was very lenient, much more so than most other banks, in allowing you a hardship deference. I'm sorry you've fallen on hard times, and I wish nothing but the best for you and your family, but placing blame on the institution that enabled you to borrow money from them without payment for a considerable amount of time is not only immature, but selfish. Banks are a business, and like it or not, we must all understand that.

I'm gonna have to agree with these guys... PAY YOUR BILLS! PROBLEM SOLVED! see how easy that was?

Let me give you the other side of the story. What if everyone thought they should be the exception and not pay their bill? That means that some of US Bank's million employees don't get a paycheck, or, more realistically, they get laid off b/c the bank can't afford them anymore. These people have bills to pay too.

Oh, and on a side note, the time you spent posting this ridiculous complaint would have been better spent looking for a job, seeing as unemployment seems to be the source of your issues.

sx rehborn you are either ignorant or just trying to be provocative...hope you continue to be untouched by this recession so your pompous smugness can remain firmly in place...it's probably all you really have, I suspect.

Collection calls are a fact of life and in this recession a common part of too many people's lives. As scuzzy a job as it is, many people take these jobs to feed their families too and I try to respect the fact that they are just doing their jobs. I have talked to several decent people who understood my situation and professionally explained my options. The ones who are really having a field day here are the bullies who get off on harrassing people who are not able to pay their bills. I have found that there is a particular segment of our population who seem to relish confrontation and will do and say just about anything to provoke it. I have come to refer to them as "ghetto godzillas". These people enjoy the fact that they get to order people not to "disrespect them" while they are screaming at you so you can't get a word in edgewise and take particular pleasure in talking to you as if you were the biggest piece of crap on the planet in the most condescending tone possible. Now that is really not necessary for a collection call, it just makes them feel powerful knowing that they made the woman who had no grocery money for her 4 kids cry. They never have to see the people they bully face to face and they are getting paid to do it! That's what I call a sociopathic win-win and I doubt it does much to advance the collection process. God they must feel powerful after a day of shredding people who are out of work because of the economy...

Jenirow, I love how you stated your response and it is very true they are the "ghetto godzillas." I went through a phone conversation today with the same loan people and could not believe that they could talk to a fellow employee at the same company (US Bank) the way they did. Much less talk to a client in the same bullying way. That is not how any company will get money from me... and trust me they take enough money from me already as it is.

As far as the other comments towards the bank, I work there. I also have loans there and I have also been affected by the recession. I have a job that does not pay enough and am a new college graduate. I have gotten these same calls from very rude and unprofessional loan collecting US Bank employees. It seems that although I am good at my job, nice to customers, and make money for this company; there are some major areas of downfall within the company. I had to work 40 hours a week while in school and could barely afford to live much less pay for my education. It seems that there are many people out there whom find it in there moral realm to be just as mean as the creditors calling.

As of today and what I have gone through with loans, creditors, and searching for a new job in a dismal economy I really feel ashamed to be associated with a company that can do this to a client. I fully understand paying my bills that is why I have roof over my head, food on the table, and gas to go work! However, the pay sucks and they are even rude to other employees of the company.

So to those going through this same mess I fully understand. For those whom have enough time to write condescending remarks to a blogg well... GET A LIFE AND PERSPECTIVE ON THE WORLD GO BULLY SOMEONE ELSE!
