Bankston Motor Homes - Purchased a Motorhome with de-lam issues and the salesman admitted he knew them about after the sale.

Filed against : Bankston Motor Homes, Inc. 2191 Jordan Ln NW Huntsville AL [protected] Complaint Description: I purchased a 2009 Four Winds Windsport 34Y in Oct. 2014. At the time I thought I had done my research, but being my first motor home I was not aware of what de-lam was. Soon after I bought the RV I noticed these bubbles on the exterior of the RV and I contacted the sales person and he admitted that he knew they were there. He immediately started in with the fact that it was out of warranty and referred me to their repair shop. They attempted and charged me to repair the spots but with no success and no guaranty. It is a general opinion that the de-lam was the fault of the previous owners lack of roof maintenance. I am amazed after reading various blogs that a lot of motorhome companies have all these bells and whistles to lure the buyer in, then they put a roof on that is one notch better than a cheap tent. GREAT QUALITY MOVE! Over the past few months of extensive researching, getting a lot of runaround, and talking to various repair people, including THOR who bought out Four Winds, and other industry professionals, I ended up with 2 de-lam repair estimates. One from THOR for 11k and one from and independent repair shop for 9-12k. Bankston can't even do de-lam repair. I then decided to contact the president of Bankston. His secretary insisted that he would want to be consulted about this issue and that he would contact me. When he contacted me he was not aware of any of my previous complaints. After a long conversation with Mr. Bankston he requested that I send him pictures of the de-lam so he could use his resources to try and resolve my problem, or trade and he would give me a good "deal." I sent the first group of pictures on Oct.15, 2015 and Mr. Bankstons secretary contacted me on Oct. 19, 2015 stating they had not received them even though they showed as sent in my out going email box. I then resent the pictures on Oct.19, 2015 and they said that they had received them. To this day I have not heard back from anyone connected with Bankston Motorhomes. In my opinion even though Bankston was selling this unit for an individual, their name is on all the paper work involved with the sale and they admittedly knew about the de-lam but they did not state that in the contract. While talking to Mr. Bankston I mentioned that it would be hard for me to sell my unit as-is without a huge loss but at some point I have thought about a diesel pusher. He immediately said that his salesman, the one who sold me my known defective motor home, was a diesel specialist. I may not be the best researcher but why would I want to buy another unit from the same guy that was dishonest with selling me my first motorhome. It's a shame that Bankston can sell these high priced toys and not share information, or be conscientious with the customer. Had I known about de-lam I could have exercised other options. Mr. Bankston also stated that they had 3 or 4 RV's on the lot with de-lam. (It's like find a fool and we will sell it to them, pay the commission to the sales person and case closed). High greed factor in my opinion! I have learned a valuable lesson and made a very disappointing investment with a dealer that has many red flags and questionable ethics in my opinion. I have also read or heard of similar negative situations, one of which was one week ago and the couple stated they would never go back to Bankston. Not to mention all the complaints on this site. This type of negativity that has taken place with this dealer leads me to two words: Buyer Beware! I know from the legal side that Bankston has no reason or interest, or even the need to correct my situation. All I am asking is that Bankston give serious attention to their customer relations, and the word honesty! In my case these two categories will always remain extremely questionable. I hope people read these complaints. After reading all these, who would want to buy a motor home period!
