Ross Dress for Less - Sun glasses.

On January 20, 2022 I entered Ross Dress for Less located in Corona, California with the intentions of returning a pair of sunglasses. As I entered the store, I was greeted by security is security and I proceeded to the counter to ask the sales clerk for a bag because I wanted to return an item and didn't want to walk around the store with it in my hand. I received the bag and I continued to shop. Upon completion of shopping, I proceeded to the return line I was asked to come over by sales clerk. I handed the sales clerk the returned item and I indicated the receipt was inside the eyeglass case the clerk reviewed the receipt and inspected the glasses and then indicated she could not do the return. In my amazement, I asked why she did not believe the glasses were the type indicate on the sales tag or the receipt. She stated She did not feel comfortable doing the return so I stated the store did have a problem with me buying the glasses nor did they feel uncomfortable taking my money. The clerk then said the glasses looked like there were bite marks and the case had a blemish on it. I indicated the glasses had not been tampered with nor did I wear them, I simply brought them back because I was disinterested in retaining them. I also stated if she didn't believe the glasses were what was stated on the receipt and on the sales tag that she should look it up to verify that the item was what was stated on the receipt. The clerk proceeded to the security stand where I presume, she attempted to look up the item she then returned and said she was unable to verify the item so she wasn't going to honor the return. She then indicated that I could return to the store and present the item to her manager but she was not going to do the return. I stated OK, I will return the glasses at the store in which I purchased them at I then ask that she go ahead and ring up the items that I was intending on exchanging during this process. Unbeknownst to me I did not realize I had actually brought the glasses from this location. I then ask the manager for her name and the number to the corporate office she indicated what her name was and instructed me to get the corporate office number off of a bulletin that was posted at the front of the store. However, when I retrieve the information, it was determined that the number on the bulletin led back to the store Manager and the Director from the region. At that point, I felt like if the store manager wasn't aware of the condition of some of the merchandise on the floor and what information was posted for the public as far as contact information for the corporate office, so how could she question what was being returned therefore insulting me and calling my character into question. I was totally embarrassed.

Desired outcome: Store manager should be reprimanded and made understand feelin are not a part of the return policy and if the customer is within compliance just do the return.
