These guys are going down hill.
I asked if they could replace a piezo pickup in a guitar that they built for me years ago. Just send me a direct replacement.
They were confused because they could not identify who made the original part.
They ended up sending me a piezo pickup that I bought from them. I installed it and the output was about 60% less compared to the original.
I called and raised a complaint, but they could not/would not help me..
Next I ordered a brand new guitar to be made for me...it took them about 3 months. OK. About $1, 500.00...nice guitar, right?
After receiving it I noticed that when the volume was tuned down the tone got very muddy. THIS is an ACTIVE 9VDC circuit guitar and when you reduce the volume you are NOT supposed to get any tonal change. To me this was a defect, but in their eyes it was supposedly "normal". Thats BS.
So I had to pay for shipping for a defective guitar...they would not pay back the shipping expenses.
I returned that guitar, but I was on the hook for return postage. (for a bad guitar...)
Carvin was a pretty good company but Kiesel Guitars is a failing enterprise that I would not purchase from again.
I once ordered some knobs from them, as they said (on the website) that the knobs were in stock. 2 weeks later after NOT getting my product I called them They said that they were NOT in stock. I cancelled the order and got a refund.
AVOID these clowns...
Oh!
Another memory-----
I had a Carvin Tweed Belair. Nice sounding amp. Cheaply made but a nice tone. (Very cheaply made)
It has a reverb tank installed. If this tank fails (and they do from time to time) YOU CANNOT get a replacement tank. Period. The tanks were made ONLY for those amps. Accutronics or Hammond or anyone else does not provide a proper reverb tank...
Thanks Kiesel/Carvin-------good design job. NOT!
Oh-----forgot to mention:
In the past I have ordered pickups from them; Humbuckers.
They are cheaply made and the screws for height adjustment strip out.
I can't think of a Kiesel/Carvin product that is really very good. I even owned a DC127 at one point. It was pretty--purple. Nice.
Sounded like thin crappy tin...
I had a California Carved Top, which is Kiesel trying to emulate PRS. It was a dull sounding instrument.
Believe me folks, these guys are not worth your dollars or your attention..
