Far fetched from reality is the glorified and simplified process of plasma donating, Easy money for a so called effortless process. In reality it is a process that is conducted by a phlebotomist which is a career requiring just 40 hours of schooling to take the California certification. Of course they get watched practice on clients for so many pokes but having watched those trainees practice on clients who don't get extra pay as guinea pigs. Comparing past needle pokes from trained nurses and doctors and considering the dangers from just needle pokes and the pains that follow. Now taking the last donation I gave, No, now taking the last few donations I gave at the Rialto biolife I reconsider the entire knowledge of the quick money easy money process even existing. Just this last time I went in my experience was frightening. Not only does it effect you while inside having common experiences like not properly attaching to the vein. After being connected for ten minutes and blood flowing into the big machine on the side of me. Watching the horrific site of blood leaving my body to to be separated into plasma which is kept by the center and only red blood is returned. Well this went wrong my last visit, as it did for the guy next to me, and as so for many many others when donating. Something was wrong my blood was taken out and was not able to be pumped back. Makes me wonder since some of it did actually get pumped back, where and how did it go? Then they attempted to insert into a vein in the other arm only that the phlebotomist could not connect. Having to have had that needle wiggling in my arm and her trying to attempt to connect by what I assume would have been only luck. It was a failure. My blood could not be returned. I don't know about others but from my experiences and those I've seen in life or even live tv events, any loss of blood usually isn't one that has satisfying results. Enduring the trauma of that then having both arms bandaged tight and having to wear them for at least half an hour so blood doesn't flow. we forget just how serious it is allowing a puncture into our flesh. the introduction of bacteria etc. But wait, still I felt rushed out of there told okay you can go now. Afterall you are useless having failed to supply the full amount of plasma. A wasted space and wasted time, Your existence is almost as if you didn't even exist. No care is given as they only care when you enter but not so much that they care. They only care enough to make sure they can get the plasma out from you and have a product to sell. See I've donated at other centers before but here I didn't get a nurse or doctor check me or anybody for that matter. Other locations I was given Gatorade and even a few snacks. I was asked how I felt and even then I was told to wait several minutes and then asked again how I felt before being cleared to exit. Not this place. Never the thought of what if he is driving or walking out into the extreme heat like it was that day. Forget about the traumatic event that just took place. Just exiting the cold grocery store to blistering heat is sometimes traumatic event enough. Considering I was driving which was a danger as I was rushed out unchecked, feeling so flush overwhelmed I was later told on the phone by management I need to speak up. Easy to say but at the moment I was feeling so horrible I couldn't even spit words out I just followed what the phlebotomist told me after all they are the professionals. I made it to my car sat a minute or two or three. I started to drive and then bump. I was so dizzy and ill feeling I bumped into a car. You would think a so called easy process and still after walking out in the extreme heat I would have the knowledge to know how I would feel and respond to such a un natural process of robbing plasma from your blood except for by blood (a full cycle of my blood wasn't returned) I was repeatedly told next time tell someone. Well yeah next time it will be considered but this time I crashed and I'm blamed and I'm told next time. What about this time when this happened and it was a direct result as to something I attributed nothing to. How do I receive full blame for that event if just inside were the careless so called healthcare workers who are trained certified and licensed bonded and insured. Forget the fact it cost me 300 out of pocket to repair the car I bumped into. Thinking back at the shots my kids received or even the recent covid vaccine, each of those times and after most events your made to wait a few minutes and asked if you feel okay before just being told to okay you can go now. Maybe it was just the fact how I felt and couldn't talk or anything really. Maybe it was just me just because of that that I felt it like that like I was rushed out even though it all felt like slow motion. I guess that would be more reason why they should have really checked on me before kicking me out only proving my point. I cant be held liable for what took place in that parking lot as the negligence was not on my behalf as im not a trained, certified, licensed, bonded, and insured professional provider. In fact laws and case studies show fault on providers who have the ultimate responsibility and the training and experience and knowledge to know what can happen in such events. The clear answer is nobody did what should have been done because they just didn't care, just like they didn't care I lost 300 dollars. Would they care if I had been run over after walking out because I don't remember walking to my car. would they have cared had I run someone over or killed someone in a horrific accident. Maybe that parking lot bump was just there luck and it gave me time enough and prevented a accident on the street with other motorists and pedestrians.
So moral of my experience is don't believe its a simple process. Its a long process that has the potential of injury both inside and once you leave. people have ambulances take them away on occasion not always not every day but it happens. serious injury is possible and it shows how no matter how much trained staff is around means nothing. you check into every process leading up to the blood involved process but once its taken or attempted to be taken and you have gone thru a complicated process that is in fact so dangerous and complicated with many risks and your plasma is so valuable they can employ all those employees and offer you all kinds of promotions and rewards is for just those reason
