Tuesday July the 13th 2021 my neighbor who is an African American female over the age of 60 was accosted by an employee at Vons and accused of stealing chicken. Imagine being African American and falsely accused of stealing chicken. This happened inside the store and should be visible via surveillance cameras. My neighbor was humiliated, embarrassed, and afraid so she did not put up much of a fight. She denied the allegations against her which also included using food stamps to pay for the stolen chicken. It's alleged that the food stamps card was declined yet this alleged chicken thief walked out the store with the chicken anyway. If it did happen it was not my neighbor who did this! My neighbor does not deserve this type of baseless harassment and humiliation. She is a good woman who was afraid to go back to the store this morning after what transpired. I encouraged her to go and speak to Claude. Apparently the person she spoke to was Raz. She says Raz assured her he would get to the bottom of this. I myself contacted the corporate office through Vons.com as directed by the woman listed as the business owner on Yelp Dawn M. As of now we do not have the name of this perpetrator but I'm working on finding out now. All we know is that it was a female employee. This happened 3 days ago. Check the surveillance videos. I'd like that woman's name in writing. She made false allegations against an innocent woman. I would also like a copy of the video of my neighbor being treated like this if possible. I am demanding justice on behalf of my neighbor even if she won't demand it herself!
Desired outcome: No Justice No Peace
Vons - Racially biased customer service
Had a negative customer service experience at this location while using self checkout. The culprit, an extremely large/intimidating Mexican woman named Maria became agitated and angry when I needed her help purchasing produce. When you purchase produce the machine will tell you to accept the weight and then tell you to move the produce to the bagging area. Next the machine will say incorrect weight. It never fails. No matter what produce you're purchasing it does this. My help light automatically started flashing. I made eye contact with her and motioned for her to please come help since she ignored the help light. She sighed, rolled her eyes, it was all very condescending and aggressive. I was terrified. She's twice my height and size, and is mad at me because she has to do something other than look at her phone. A little googling showed multiple reviews and complaints regarding Maria. I informed corporate of all this and nothing has changed. How do I know? Although I refuse to step back in this store with that thug here, my online review has received message responses. One just recently alerting me they've had similar experiences with Maria. Unfortunately some seem too cowardly to complain. Not that I blame them. Who knows what gang ties this thug has?! In my haste to get out of there I snapped a photo of her snarling at me as I bagged my groceries to go. It's grainy, but it shows exactly what I'm talking about. Alex Hernandez is the "store director" Jesus is the stores manager, and Maria is the supervisor. I concluded that in order to get respect at this store you have to look like those who run this store. I'm not Mexican, so...I can't believe corporate allows this. I'm attaching the photo of this thug snaring at me. Snarling at me while she's on the clock and I'm a paying customer. It's so appalling.
Whiny? My kids call me a cry baby. They’re young and likely troll the net just like you all do. I’ve been crying for our troops all week. Couldn’t get through a full prayer without breaking into tears. The news that there were no American casualties with the recent rocket launches brought even more tears and reinforced the fact that prayer works. My tears don’t justify Maria’s actions nor the actions of those who enable her. Scared? Try terrified! She’s bigger than me in every aspect, and with the recent surge of ms13 in our area and not knowing her affiliation, I’m much more than scared. I concede that I am very emotional, shy, timid, and I confess that it breaks my heart that this can happen on American soil with an American company. If this were Vallarta I might be able to understand, however as an American I shouldn’t be made to feel uncomfortable or be treated badly because I’m not Mexican-American.
You’re doing amazing sweetie (Kris Jenner voice). Your Trader Joe’s review brought me here. I grew up in Shadow Hills not far from Robyn who happens to be a long time cashier at this location. I’d go here mostly for Starbucks after school with the rest of the kids from Verdugo. Back then every seventh frap was free with your Vons club. One morning I was in here and Cindy another long term cashier was checking. I wasn’t buying anything I just went to say hi after grabbing my Starbucks. It was early and the store was relatively empty. I’m talking to Cindy and she tells me her grandchild who was a newborn or infant at the time was having major surgery. She grabbed my hands or I grabbed hers and we said a small prayer. As I opened my eyes from praying I looked up and saw Maria at the register behind us looking at us and rolling her eyes. I couldn’t believe it! Who gets angered or offended by people praying? For Cindy’s grandchild! Cindy was a big Elvis fan and that’s all she ever spoke about, but this day she spoke of her grandchild and we prayed. Maria had mad dogged at me before, but this was too much. I whispered what had transpired to Cindy and I think she wrote it off as these kids have no respect or these young people don’t respect their elders. The problem is I too was no older than 18 at the time. It wasn’t a youth thing, Maria is just a big fat hater. Now she’s supervisor?! I can’t believe it. This was awhile ago. Between [protected]. I left for college in 2014 so it was before then. Only in Tujunga. They promoted this woman.lmaaaaaao Keep your foot on her neck! She can only get away with it for so long. 10 years and running st this point😂
Thanks for sharing. I was attacked under this post by trolls and Maria supporters. They called me whinny amongst other things. One accused me of sending illicit pictures to them. I basically stopped visiting. I was even notified of your reply. I received email alerts of the replies attacking me, but not with your reply. Looks like the website removed all those pro Maria replies. The nerve of people continues to amaze me. Cindy and Robyn were both still employed last I was at the store. I was told Robyn is having a hard time getting hours. Someone messaged me that on yelp, but I’m sure she’s still here. If you don’t mind I’d like to screenshot your message and forward it to corporate. I suspect she gets away with it because people aren’t informing corporate. That’s my guess. Maybe eye rolling is company policy. This is crazy, and YES she is a supervisor now!
Vons - Product accessibility
I have been buying the vons store brand diet tonic water for many years and really love it.
Recently, my vons in tujunga, ca has moved it to the very top shelf.
I am 5 feet 1 inch tall!
How in the world am I supposed to reach the top shelf?
I have, a few times had to go find some one tall to get it for me.
It is not easy to actually find any one tall enough in this store.
I generally buy 8 to 10 bottles at a time.
This is very inconvenient for me.
Any suggestions?
(I have thought of bringing my own stool but that would be problematic for everyone)
