We started this process with total excitement about receiving a baby French bulldog, we reached out to Adele who made her self known as the "grandma" of these dogs and that she works with Breeder she knows and trusts. We went and picked up our French bulldog October 11, 2021 and little did we know exactly one week after that he would be dead. We picked up our pup from The breeder in Bennett Colorado Jose and Rosa Saavedra in which Adele promised was in the highest of care. Upon picking up the dog we noticed he was extremely small almost lethargic. We talked it up to him being exhausted from travel and just being nervous to be with us. I immediately asked if he was the runt of the litter? Due to an English barrier they both looked at each other and immediately said no he's just a picky eater. Red flag as I've now realized. 10 hours after receiving our French bulldog after we got home he was in the emergency veterinary clinic. Our vet reported that this dog has been sick for quite some time and if we had not brought him in he would've died on us (sooner then he did) He was tested for numerous amounts of things tested positive for coccidia and had free fluid in his abdomen. He was so sick that we were administering IVs and IV food 24 hours a day for the next seven days with no improvement made. After exhausting all labs we tested him for a disease called failure to thrive which turned out to be negative as well. The vet said he has been so sick for so long unable to keep his own bodyweight the dog never even had a drink of water he was so sick. We had to make the horrible decision to put him to sleep as he was losing weight and was down to almost 3 pounds even with the most immense care. Upon reaching out to Adele she acted shocked, I immediately was stating that the living conditions had to have been filthy and that they oversaw him being sick and still sold us the dog knowing he was ill. That was all shut down and what she said they love their dogs and take great care of them (clearly) we requested a full refund in which she told us to reach out to Jose, my husband and myself both did that and never received a response from him. We have only communicated with Adele since then which I find immensely unprofessional as Jose is the breeder. About the refund, Adele said that they did not have the money for it and it would take quite some time to get a refund granted to us but due to the contract we would get another puppy if we wanted. At first obviously we were so shattered we couldn't imagine bringing another dog home as time passed we decided the money was probably never going to show up and that it would probably be in the best interest to just receive a dog which is what we wanted in the first place. Naïvely we met for another puppy from the same litter, with adele promising that he is in great health and that sometimes puppies don't make it but this one is perfect. They wanted us to come all the way back six hours to receive this dog, after we had just spent 6000 in one week putting one to sleep. We agreed to meet halfway in which Adele met me to exchange the dog and two days later I had him in the vet for blood in his stool. I again reached out to Adele and what she attempted to smooth things over and stated things happen with puppies and sometimes they get sick and she thought we were too traumatized and should possibly just return the puppy if we don't want to pay vet bills again. Obviously when you're getting a puppy and it's your baby the last thing you wanna do is return it to people who are clearly miss treating their animals. It isn't about the money at this point it was about having an animal survive. The vet diagnosed this puppy with Giardia and stated it is common although rare in the US mostly due to poor living conditions. She also noter knuckling in his feet which is a genetic issue. Another diagnosis from a different vet comparing two common things - poor living conditions and poor breeding. We are disgusted, embarrassed and will never do this again. We still have never heard from Jose, a breeder taking terrible care of these poor animals. If you think that this is going to be a fun situation for you with this site I just hope youhave the funds, the heart, or the audacity to possibly have to deal with a situation like this then please do yourself a favor and do not buy animals from these people. It makes me sick to think that hundreds of puppies will live in this kind of situation, most likely go on treated and or die. It's clearly all about the money, it's shocking that after one week the money we gave them was suddenly missing. We all know these animals aren't cheap but we also know when people are in it for money. Adele is the smooth talker, the educated although they offered to pay nothing for the medical bills, nothing for a refund immediately and it was pulling teeth to get them to even meet us halfway for another puppy even though we had spent thousands attempting to save the first one. I know you all will read this, and you should be ashamed. You should be disgusted to provide income to this disgusting breeder and flaunt him as he's doing either of you a favor. It's time to retire, the animals you're breeding and profiting are the ones that truly suffer.
