My wife has been trying to dispute a purchase with CITI since August 8th, 2021. The purchase was for $14, 600 to Mastermind Care in Margate, Fl. It was for mental health treatment for our adult daughter. Our receipt said 30 day/night treatment with community housing. It had a sub-note that it was non-refundable. What we didn't know was Mastermind Care's Business Manager and spouse of the CEO is a convicted felon for patient brokering. Joaquin Barreda is on probation until 2027. Our daughter arrived in the late afternoon of July 15th, 2021. By July 20th Mastermind Care Baker Acted her (forced commitment to a psychiatric hospital), providing only 3 days of counseling and 5 nights of stay. Mastermind Care's documentation shows she was discharged on 07/23/2021, but actually, she did not arrive back at the facility until the end of the 27th. On July 28th they sent her to another location. SO WE DID NOT GET THE SERVICES WE PAID FOR. We attempted to get a refund, no luck. We attempted a dispute with CITI, no luck. CITI reopened the dispute they messed up the first time and within days told us the merchant denied the dispute. The merchant didn't even have time to gather documentation. They said our daughter violated their rules. Yet, our daughter was in the hospital with a psychotic break, how could she violate the rules. So it seems CITI believes a felon over a customer. I wish COSTCO would go back to AMEX!
Desired outcome: Return $12,100 for unused services
Costco - Customer service experience
Hi,
I know your store is only for members. However, one of your members loaned me her card to buy some items for family members that were affected by hurricane Dorian in The Bahamas. We picked up about 3 carts of mostly toiletries and laundry products worth close to $900. I got to the self check out line, I proceeded to scan the membership card and I was approached by one of your staff that I had too many items to be scanned at the self check out. He asked about the membership card and I told him it was not mine, it was loaned to me to get some supplies for family in the Bahamas. He eye scanned the card and said, " you don't know this is a membership store and I can not use the card." He called his manager/supervisor and the supervisor lectured us about store policies but he will send me to a line and allow me to pay for the items only if I was using my debit card not my credit card. I told him fine, I will pay with my debit card. They all acted as if I stole something / stole the card. One of the supervisor stayed at the cashier the entire time to see if I was paying debit, then proceeded to tell me he was taking the card and I should have the owner picked it up. I said to him, " do you think I stole the card?" He gave an excuse that it is an old card. The cashier handed the card back. I ended leaving the store and paying the bill for 854.92 to be exact. This is not how you a paying customer. If all it took was that I get membership I could have paid. They could have offered me a membership instead try to make a big deal. They're good people in the world and this young lady was doing good by lending me her card. Even if I was interested in membership, I think I would think twice about the service I got today. There was no interaction whatsoever from the cashier. All she did was scanned my items and no customer service. Just bad service.
