I stopped by the Costco Tukwila location on 12/1/2023 when I was in that area to redeem the rewards. When I went to the customer service desk, the agent asked me if I wanted to redeem it on the annual membership. I told him no because Costco had already charged me the annual membership fee. He probably didn't hear what I said. He swiped my card and charged $120 anyway. I immediately asked him to give me a refund on that charge. He and his coworker insisted that the charge is still pending, and there is nothing they can do about it until it goes through. They assured me that the charge would be removed itself once the pending period ends.
They were wrong. After a few days, the pending charge settled in my account. Basically, I got a double charge on my credit card for the membership fee. I requested a dispute, but Costco Citi Card says they have not heard back from them for the past month. I called the Costco Tukwila location just now to resolve the issue. The staff asked me to come in with the receipt. I can't find the receipt at this moment, and it is a 30-minute drive from my house. It is very inconvenient for me to go back in person, and this is not my fault. She said there is nothing she can do about it then. I just that location again to speak with the manager. Someone said he would redirect me to the manager, but no one answered. This is a very poor customer service experience.
