We have rented a storage with Life storage (it was previously Public storage) for 2 years (or close to it). My credit card company reached out to me that my card was locked due to attempted fraud. I find out it's Life storage. I had set my recurring charge for $108. My account has always been set up on recurring charges. We got an email on Friday stating that our unit had a lien and was set for auction. We contacted customer service. They told us they would reach out to the manager and make the arrangements.
Here's the kicker... In October the rent went from $108 to $176 AND NOBODY TOLD US. I asked the manager how could there be a rent increase and we were not notified. This woman says after you bring the account current we can request a rent reduction. What the heck kind of sense does that make? You place a lien on my unit. Charge me a rate that wasn't agreed upon and then threaten to auction my unit if we don't pay. What the heck kind of business is this? How can you just charge my credit card any NEW amount? WITHOUT MY PERMISSION?
