The UPS Store - customer service complaint

To the complaints board:

I would like to share with you my experience while visiting a ups store on today. It started with a simple phone call to verify if a return label could be printed for t-mobile, I was assured by a Mariam that it could be done. After arriving to the ups store I stood awaiting for the next available employee to assist me. A register became available at the same time another customer was walking inside, so Mariam acknowledged the customer and asked if she could help her but the customer pointed at me and said I believe this lady was here first. I then walked over to the counter and Mariam asked me "What do you want"? I laughed if off and said "do you mean how may I help you"? So I started telling her what I needed then she blurted out "you called, I spoke with you". So she took me over to the computer and told me to print the label. Now to my understanding a label is printed on sticky paper but apparently it can be printed on plain printer paper, I'm now aware of this. Exactly how the misunderstanding occurred, if Mariam had just explained that in the beginning there would have never been a issue but instead she insisted on arguing with me because I told her I wasn't paying for the paper because I had my own paper that I printed. I had inquired about a label, meaning a sticky sheet. So to sum up my complaint, she was completely rude from the time I entered the door and the fact that she chose to argue about it instead of finding a resolution for the issue was disgusting. The other employee had to stop in the middle of a transaction to come over and resolve my issue and while she was doing so Mariam found it so funny that she decided to chuckle. I told her there is nothing funny about you not knowing how to provide customer service if so you shouldn't be working. Now this particular location is very convenient for me, so I often stop by for whatever needs I have and there is always a very pleasant gentlemen present whom I've never had a issue with so this was very disappointing to me especially because Mariam didn't seem to care at all. However, I will be returning to this location in the future but I would hope that she is provided proper coaching and training so that something as simple as this matter is prevented in the future.

Thanks in advance,
Alicia T
