Regarding reservation of 2 rooms at the Baymont Inn by Hampton in North Atlanta/Marietta Georgia.
I would like to inform you that this hotel should be taken off the list for AARP members as it is extremely sub par and a safety risk for your members.
We found it on the AARP Travel website while on the road. When we arrived, there were indicators that this was not the place to be.
It was immediately noticed that there was a strong smell of marijuana in the reception area. Then as we were were driving around the back to the parking, we noticed there were several people “hanging” around at the back entrances where there was very poor lighting. Again, a strong smell of marijuana was noticed. We did not feel safe being outside our vehicle for any length of time. So, we quickly grabbed our bags and dogs and went into our rooms.
They were atrocious! There was an overwhelming room freshener smell in both rooms. The floors were covered concrete where you could see bugs, both dead and alive! These rooms had not been appropriately cleaned. And the BUGs- I do not know what kind they were but they were everywhere and scattered as soon as the lights came on.
There was no phone in the room to call the front desk. The water sprinkling system appeared to be broken and we could not identify a smoke detector. This “hotel” should not be an option for any respectable booking site!
We canceled our “non refundable” reservation and went next door to the Quality Inn. We observed many people doing the same thing.
Desired outcome: Hotel closed down and disaffiliated from Baymont
