Tried to exchange a shirt and sweater I got for Christmas. I did not have the receipt but the tags were still on the items. I was told the value of these items as 2 cents. All I wanted to do was exchange for a larger size. They refused to help me. I told them I would post reviews all over the internet and they seemed ok with it. So they are aware that I am writing about their horrible customer service.

I work at Stein Mart. Stein Mart's return policy says "Items returned after 60 days or without a receipt will be returned at the current selling price". If the current selling price is a penny, that means the item has been marked out of stock and is not in our system anymore. We could not even exchange those items for you because items get pulled from the sales floor when they become a penny. If you wanted a refund you should have brought a receipt or gift receipt. We have an extended return policy for Christmas and if the person who gave you the gift had given you the receipt or a gift receipt we could have returned the items until January 31st. Not our fault that you weren't given a receipt. Our registers automatically start printing gift receipts in November. Complain to the gift giver. Our return policy is clear.
