On the morning of September 8 2023

I was followed to the self checkout by two employees at the Lawrence and central location. I was followed from the freezer section to the self checkouts. Where the two continued to watch me scan each item behind me. One is bald and heavy set the other is smaller. They are not security. The taller man is actually the butcher at this location and the smaller one is also behind the counter employee. They were not wearing a security uniform or a badge on their outermost garments. They only had street clothes and little walkie talkies clipped to their shirts. They are not loss and prevention. They are the butchers at this location. As a mother with an infant in the stroller and shopping alone without my husband they completely scared me because I was being followed by two men. With no visible identification of being security or employed by jewel. I only found out who they are by calling and asking. I’m pretty sure it is illegal to do this. It is also very scary and uncomfortable. Again I have photos and video of them following me without uniforms, badging or reason. I will no longer shop at jewel. I’ve shopped at jewel for 30yrs and this has never happen to me in my life. Nor at any other store I frequent. I will make sure to alert the community especially mothers with children. Because I felt as if I was being followed by two child kidnappers or thugs. Because again, they are not wearing any form of uniform or badge. In all my years, I didn’t know a butcher can preform the duties of a security guard to follow women and children. This is honestly the most shocking thing I have seen in a jewel. Most despicable behavior I have witnessed.
