I was charged $225.00 just to figure our federal & state taxes, I think that is to much for ez form and state taxes. My dad has his done by a tax accountant and pays $75.00 to $ 90.00 a year. Live and learn I guess. On top of the high charge then they charge you a fee to get the check if not direct deposited. Screwed without a kiss. The bad thing is is they don't tell you how much till they are done figuring your taxes.

Liberty tax of Woodside Queens NY is crook. They charge me $800 for filing less work and less refund than previous years. Last 2011 and 2013 I was charged $300 and $384 respectively. On 2013, I had more papers and they charged $84 extra than previous year 2011. But this year, I have least refund and less paper to file than previous years and still they charged me $800 without saying a word to me. They told me the charge after we were done on paper work. I was pissed up. I couldn't say a word. I told the manager showing all proof from previous years than her response was ###. She told all price went up. WTF if she told me the fee before doing the paper work than I would definitely not filing with those crooks. I had a big argument with the manager and she came down to $619. Still that's a lot of money for 20 mins of work. In conclusion, I think government should do something about it. They are ripping up the people.

I just filed my Taxes with Liberty in Bakersfield Ca, Because I made a small amount this year I only get about 890 coming back, Liberty just charged me 279$ plus 29.95$ bank charges and 9.00$ for something else. Im like WTF is wrong with these people?
I feel that Liberty Tax Service is an amazing franchise. I have only had great experiences there. I have called around pricing trying to find cheaper, and franchises are all comparible. At our Liberty, the always have soda, and snacks, if youre lucky warm cookies out of their oven. I think they go above and beyond when it comes to customer service, my kids were hungry and they sent someone after happy meals..who does that? I heart Liberty Tax.
You should never hire someone based solely on hype, advertising, or recommendations from "friends". Always do background checks on the people or firms you are looking to hire, before you hire them. In the age of Internet it is so easy to run their name through Google and see what you can find out about them and what complaints they have. One hour of research over the Internet may save you thousands of dollars and a lot of headaches.

Cosmic...Im suing them for federal law violations. Regardless if I win or not they still have to pay someone to defend them so it isn't really about me winning money back from them but rather making them pay to defend their illegal actions. Read into it how you want but that's the name of the game. It doesn't cost me nothing more than the price of an envelope and stamp to ligitate...been doing it for 20 years. So, my 52 cents versus their hundreds of dollars for attorneys and court proceedings...one plus one equals two.
What are you planning to sue them for? How much they charge? Good luck with that one...

who cares what lies liberty tax is pushing, I am not going to complain about them I'm just going to sue them in federal court and try to get class certification to put them out of business. Liberty Tax charged me $185 (after a $50.00 discount) for filing 1049a in 2008. This year they charged me $385.00. Then I find out that they have made the same mistake for 2 yrs on my state. I have a qualifying dependent for Head of Household on Federal, but, On state I am supposed to file Single with a dependent. They filed me as HOH for the last 2 yrs. I got a letter from state and I now owe them $1600.00 for the last two years. When I went to Liberty to ammend my taxes so the mistakes they made were fixed not only did they try to charge me $160.00 to fix their mistake, The also ammended my Federal taxes and changed me from HOH to Single. Now I owe Fedral over a thousand dollars! I have taken everything to a another company that is trying to ammend my ammendment right now. Thanks a lot Liberty! I know you said you won't give me my money that i paid to you for preparing my taxes or the penalty fee, But that's o.k.. I will see you in court!
I will agree with you on that! I was charged 564.00 for a 1040 NR only! Took about 20 easy. Paper work was incorrectly filed simple mistakes like my ADDRESS! Never received my state as well. NEVER AGAIN!
