Bekins Van Lines, Inc. - Service and overcharging

Beware of bekins van lines. They will not complete the move after being paid, they will damage your furniture, they will refuse to provide you with a claim form. Despite thier promises, they have avoided any further contact with me or their affiliate.

Use another carrier that will provide service and not cheat you!

In june, your local agent quoted me a total moving fee of $770, which was also supposed to include any travel time. This move was actually less mileage than the may move. You charged me an additional $77.50 which is not specified on your invoice. Although I paid the entire fee, I called you the same day to dispute this additional fee. You said it was because your people spent 4 1/2 hours which was a fabrication. Although you told me that the movers would call when they were on route, they did not. I had to call your offices, and finally got called at 9:10 am. I met them at the storage unit at 9:20, and their work was concluded at 12;23. That was 3 hours and 3 minutes. There should have been no additional charge. You have refused to discuss this issue and to provide a remedy. Your own invoice clearly indicated $770.

Your mover dropped and dragged my custom-made bookcase along the cement. He did not offer any apologies. He said he would report it. Apparently, he did not based on my conversations. Before they left, I asked the older mover if the bed had been reassembled. He said "was it supposed to be?" a few minutes later I went upstairs, only to find that the slats were not assembled. He said the slates were the wrong size, and that they were not needed. I called sealy, simmons, serta, and over 10 local furniture companies. All said that all queen and king size beds need slates.

On june 6, I reported this to you. You told me that if you would have to come out for repairs to both my bed and bookcase, that I would be charged $290 for service and a 2 hour minimum.

On june 8, I left a message stating that the entire bed collapsed. I now have a bed that I can neither sleep on, or sit. This was due to the incompetence, negligence or just plain laziness of your employees. Of course, I never got a response from you because it appears that you just don't care. I believe that I am entitled to repairs or replacements if needed.

Needless to say, I am very disappointed. If I do not hear from you by wednesday, july 14, then I will assume that you do not intend to service my needs. In such case you may be assured that we will pursue other courses of action that will prove both embarrassing and expensive to bekins.

Bekins Van Lines, Inc. - Poor customer service and business ethics

I really need someone at Bekins to review the following list of broken/damaged items and missing items. This has been wearing on me for the last 3 weeks and list keeps growing.
1. slates for pool table missing. I have been talking to Lisa C about and she can't get answer from Joe when they will be here.
2.* fan that was in living room. Fan removed from pedestal. connecting hardware can't be found.
3* two shelves from garage. disassembled. I only have 6 plastic locks to reassemble I will need to get 40 plastic locks per shelf unit to reassemble. I will need a total of 80 for 2 shelves. I have only 6. Ican send images and explain the assembly of shelves.
4*. wooden shelf from guest bedroom. unit is only 3 ft H 3 ft in L AND 1 FT W. Unit was dowel pinned and glued together. IT CAME OFF TRUCK IN FIVE PIECES. There are broken and missing dowel pins.
5* Pole lamp from living room. It has 3 lamps on it. One of metal shades is missing.
6. Dish receiver from kitchen. I gave to packer the original box it came in. It was not placed in original box. it was packed in paper and put in a 28x18x18 box. So was original box receiver not in it The receiver got smashed and rattled like a baby's rattle.
7* lawn mower. handle was removed from mower. The "bail lever is missing". The mower is not functional now. I am told by claims adjuster. Because it is landscaping equipment it is not covered, only household items. I really can't accept that because it was disassembled by BEKINS LOADER.
8.* Futon. it had connecting bolts and nuts removed from the end pieces. Those nuts and bolts are missing.
9.* Shelf unit in living room with desk in middle. To move the desk was removed from the two end pieces. It is held together with a sleeve which has threaded ends that smaller screws go in. I should have 4 sleeves and 8 screws to hold unit together I only have 6
This is the list of disassembled and damaged items. There is also a list of missing items which is also growing That follows.
1. HAMMER DRILL
2. SABER SAW
3 DREMEL ROTARY TOOL
4. SURFACE CLEANER. FOR POWER WASHER
5 NEW BOX of CONTRACTOR CLEAN UP BAGS
These are all items from garage and would have fit into a 28x18x18 box and box did not make the load to SC. There is also a box that was 18x18x18 box that is missing I am trying to remember contents of that box so more missing items to come.
I had requested certain items be crated if possible. Those were the slates from pool table which are yet to come. the 48 in flat screen, which was crated. The 39 in TV was poorly packed and neon light was wrapped in paper and placed in a wardrobe box. The replacement cost of those two items is close to $1000.00.
Anyway I can only say my move has been a nightmare and I am looking to get whole again. that is damaged items repaired and lost items replaced
I can provide images of all * damaged items. I have had a terrible Bekins Experience and would gladly review with any of Bekins Management or Executive.
