My 64 year old husband was at Meijer's on 11/22/23 purchasing groceries and a 12 pack of White Claw liqueur. We have always complied with Indiana State Law and shown our driver's license to purchase the liqueur. The Meijer Rep insisted that she scan his driver's license per corporate policy. My husband refused to have his license scanned and asked to speak to a manager. The Meijer Rep refused to get a manager and took the White Claw away from my husband refusing to sell it to him. Indiana State Law only requires a person to prove they are over 21 to buy liquor. Refusing an individual the right to purchase alcohol unless he or she hands over their Driver's License to be scanned into a data base is an infringement on personal freedom and is outside of Indiana State Law Requirements to purchase alcohol. My husband is obviously over 21 and produced his License as required by law. Also, are you aware of the class action Law Suit against the Indiana BMV for selling personal information? Meijer has always entered our D.O.B. to purchase alcohol. Requiring a patron to surrender their license to be scanned into a data base is an infringement on personal freedom and privacy. My husband said had he not been in a time crunch that day he would have left all of the groceries for the Meijer employee to reshelve in addition to the 12 pack of White Claw and shopped elsewhere.
Claimed loss: Lack of customer service and respect. Scanning license infringement on personal freedom and outside of Indiana State Law Requirements to buy alcohol. State Law supersedes corporate or business policy.
Desired outcome: Have Meijer employees enter the DOB for patrons who do not want their license scanned. Get a manager when requested.

I purchased pants and realized that the draw string was sewn in backwards.
Returned item and spoke w/Mgr. Crystal. I traveled 40mls. round trip and expressed the desire to be compensated for the inconvenience. I was told by Crystal that Meijers would not compensate for the above. I placed a call to the corporate office and was transferred back to that store to request store Mgr. However, Crystal intercepted the call and refused to let me speak with store
Mgr providing some thin excuse. I received a $5 coupon at that time. I am terribly dissapointed in how this was handled.
