We went to a 10:00 PM showing of Scott Pilgrim and were denied entry for an understandable policy so we asked for a refund. The employee then scanned my online tickets and printed them out. She then asked for the debit card used for the tickets and we told her we did not have it (it was my dad's). She told us that we she could not refund our tickets because we did not have the debit card and that we could've gotten a refund online but since she scanned our tickets we could not get one. We were frustrated because the clerk did not notify us of they risk of scanning the tickets. Then the manager came over and when she asked what had happened the employee told the manager blatantly false information in front of us saying that we told her we did have the debit card with us. The manager seemed to know that employee had told her false information and said that they would have a talk tomorrow.
The manager told us that she could either give us a gift card or go get the debit card which would mean that we would have to drive all the way to our house and back at 10:30 at night. This was very frustrating because these were very expensive Dolby tickets that cost me $75 and with me being at teen, was all the money I had in my wallet (like I said I gave my dad cash and he paid with his card online).
Eventually I excepted the Gift Card because I was planning to join AMC Stubs A List and we didn't want to leave with nothing. On Monday I wanted to go to see the 7:00 Scott Pilgrim screening but when I went to subscribe to stubs a list online it told me that I could not use gift cards to subscribe. I even remember saying out loud to my friend right next to me in front of the manger that I would use the card for Stubs A List.
Again it was a lot of money and I would have preferred a full refund but I thought at least I could use it for AMC Stubs A List and now I can't even use it for that. I have not used the gift card and I tried filing a complaint through AMC but the email they sent back did not address my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the email they sent me:
Thank you for contacting AMC Theatres regarding your recent visit. I was able to confirm with the theatre team that they issued a full refund on the gift card. Gift cards can be used to buy tickets or concessions at any AMC theatre. Unfortunately, gift cards cannot be used for an AMC Stubs A-List membership as that needs a valid credit/debit card for the reoccurring payments.
Desired outcome: I would really just want either a full refund or at least allow me to use my gift card for Stubs A list.
I emailed them again and the voided a gift card and gave me a full refund.
