Concern rather than a complaint:
Fully realizing it's the patient's ultimate responsibility to check first when seeing a second provider to determine if that provider is in the patient's insurance network, my suggestion is that each provider assist the patient by checking with the second provider named by the patient (or recommended by the first provider) beforehand to inquire if he/she is, in fact, in the patient's particular network.
Unless this step is implemented, the patient can unwittingly be blindsided with unexpected and unnecessary expense that could be avoided.
