Original complaint sent on 9/25/23: Booked stay for 9/23/23 - 9/24/23. Check-in was ok but all down hill from there. Hallway to the room was filled with trash. Ice machine had towels surrounding it and base was full of water. Entered room & immediately noted a strong stale smoke odor (supposed to be non-smoking room). Tried switch near door but no light came on. Went to lights near bed but only 1 of the two worked. Light on opposite end of room functioned but shade was crooked. Noted that it was just lying on the bulb with no way to straighten. Noted the smoke detector was missing. There was no phone in the room. Refrigerator did not work. No outlets within 8 feet of either night stand. Entered bathroom. One of the switches was broken off. Toilet bowl was stained & dirty. Wall behind toilet was missing the base therefore just a hole in the wall. Tub had "[censored]" it in a few spots. Appears to be soap/shampoo substance. Pull-out couch looked very old and filthy. Removed cushions to find food and a fingernail. Curtains on window were hanging on by about 30%. Have pictures of all the above. Picked up our things and left as we had a dinner reservation in 30min and no time to argue with desk personnel also did not have any desire to stay in this hotel. Room #321.
Followed up on 9/29 with call. Told that local hotel response was that they were never informed of any issues and therefore no refund could be issued. Responded with the time of the call and how long as well as willingness to provide this information. Was told that a second complaint was being initiated and that we would be contacted within 48hrs. AS of 10/8 nothing. Called again on 10/8 and heard the same story. On 10/9 received the following: "We apologize for any missed communication. We can see that the management team at Americas Best Value Inn - St. Louis / South Motel Saint Louis has replied to you on 2023-09-29. For your convenience, we have included their message below:
"We cannot process any refund at the moment as we cannot verify the call logs"
If you have any further questions or concerns, we encourage you to reach out to the property directly."
Desired outcome: Would like a full refund AND acknowledgement that these issue have been addressed, especially the smoke detector.

At 2:20am l was awaken by commotion in an ajoining room... shouting, screaming, a lady crying! Someone from that room tried to get into our room! We yelled "leave the door alone! Get out of here! breakfast. We checked out as soon as possible.. never to return [protected]@! I want a full refund of 228 dollars!" This went on for the remainder of the night!
There was no telephone to call the front desk for help.
At 5am we went to the lobby for coffee since there was no coffee maker in our lousy room. A lady wearing nothing but a slip crossed the lobby. Pimps and prostitute?!
We didn't wait for the stale fruit luges
Desired outcome: Full refund of $228

Stealing money off of my and my daughter card and she has never stayed there Unsafe / unsanitary room, lack of response, lies Hotel kept my money and the room was already paid for. rude employees, old/worn bedding, bad housekeeping Fix this place.
