I was shopping in the Bath and Body Works at Carolina Place Mall - 11025 Carolina Pl Pkwy, Pineville, NC 28134 between 7 pm and 7:30 pm on 1/18/2020 to buy a few hand soaps, hand sanitizers and etc. While at the front of the store by the registers I was looking in the hand sanitizer bin, which was not completely stocked. Unfortunately, the bins had a couple of the same fragrances and picked three different fragrance of sanitizers and saw a drawer that was already open at the bottom. I looked into the drawer to see if there were any different ones available, which there was. At that point a young white blonde female employee that was just walking around the store came over and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. I stated yes and advised that I was looking for different fragrances. She said that that the one I found was out on the other side of the bin. We walked to the other side and that fragrance was not out as she had previously stated. She stated that it had been out. I advised that's why I was looking in the drawer since the bins were not stocked. She then stated that "we don't like customers going in the drawers" and she then gave me a stern look. I stated to her "thank you, I understand". Afterwards she continued to watch me as I was shopping.
The employee was very rude and the other customers heard the comment that she made to me. I heard another customer state that it was rude. This is the first time that I have had anyone in the Pineville store to be rude. After this rude encounter I left the store and didn't by anything! Due to this incident I do not plan to spend my money in the Pineville store again, especially if this is how Bath and Body Works employees are going to treat their customers.
I had more than enough funds in my wallet and in my checking account to have made my planned purchase and more. I felt that the employee could have gone about this situation in a different manner. She did not attempt to help me look for other sanitizer fragrances nor did she attempt to fill the bins even after she saw that the fragrance that I found in the drawer was not out in the bins to be purchased by customers.
The customer service in the Pineville store needs some improvement or it may just be this employee. I hope this situation will be rectified. No other customers should be treated with disrespect and embarrassment If the store doesn't want customers going in the drawers then make sure the bins are fully stocked with varies inventory and/or put locks on the drawers.
