Rite Aid - made me sick

I came in contact with a cashier (name tag Lisa) at Rite Aid on High St. in Somersworth, NH.

Lisa was sneezing, coughing and generally just sharing her flu virus germs with me and everyone else who she came in contact with.

I asked her why she was even working? She just shrugged.

I used hand sanitizer liberally after touching the bag, change, merchandise and receipt that Lisa had just sneezed and coughed all over before handing it to me.

However, hand sanitizer doesn't prevent the free-floating germs from spreading and being ingested when it's done in your face.

I had gone to Rite Aid to purchase an OTC pain reliever for my leg. Due to my leg pain, my contact with any one else was less than limited since I was preparing to be well for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.

I began feeling flu-like symptoms roughly 48 hours after shopping at this Rite Aid, with full-blown flu symptoms hitting me like a ton of bricks the following morning.

I called and asked to speak to a manager that morning. No one has called me back and I have since lost my voice literally from the severity of this flu.

How is it that a pharmacy, of all places, allows their employees to work with the public while being so sick, especially in light of all of the flu virus warnings and precautions?

Because of this flu, and knowing that I would be contagious, I've missed the *only* chance I had of ever seeing my nephew graduate from college; there'll be pictures I can look at, but none with he and I together in any of them - ever.

I've also missed my best friend's birthday - some birthdays are special because you'll never turn that year again.

I also could not attend family gatherings to honor the veterans of this Memorial Day, which had significant meaning to me this year.

These times can never be recaptured.

Rite Aid's slogan is, "With us, it's personal." They mean it and they mean it in a very bad way.

I will not shop at any Rite Aid store, anytime, anywhere, ever again.

Wow. I was on this site looking for helpful information regarding a business; not whining ignoramuses like you. Exaggerate much? So Lisa spread these germs IN YOUR FACE? Really? Did she put her face right up to yours and sneeze on you? And what, you forgot to take a step or two backwards and let her do this to you? You poor little victim. Stop crying, and go to some of these functions that you're avoiding, and get yourself a life.

I love these comments. I was going to do my own ranting but other people got there before me. Thank you.

She MADE you sick? Plllleeeeeaaaase...if you knew anything you'd know that the world is ridden with germs---so unless you go through life always wearing gloves and an oxygen mask: you're going to catch something at some point. And by the way miss pampered lifestyle: workers that earn so little cannot AFFORD to miss even ONE day of work, especially over a cold. Basically in that line of work you have to be dead or bleeding for it to be considered a good reason. Grow up and shut up.

Also, please have your copy of the virus DNA compared to that of the worker's copy before you make an accusation without evidence. What you've got is pretty circumstantial.

1 - Tell your nephew to go to grad school so you can attend that graduation. Don't go to Rite Aid (or even step outside) a few days before the big day.

2 - Birthdays have special meaning for kids, not grownups. Your friend will continue aging. It's not as if they magically turned 50 overnight.

3 - Why wait until Memorial Day to remember anyone?

You sound like a high maintenance drama queen.

Wow. That's pretty dramatic. You voluntarily not attending all of these "important" functions was your own choice. I've done many things while sick because I wanted to do them enough to tough it out. So blaming Rite Aid because you caught a little cold and therefore were so deathly ill as to miss family functions, is beyond ridiculous.

Good luck on ever hearing anything back from management of the store. If you go out into the outside world, you're going to get sick. Move on with your life.
