Smith's - Being embarrassed publicly.

Today, 5/7/2023 my wife and I were returning from a veterinarian appointment for our cat. We chose to then stop at out local smiths market. Being that it’s over 80 in the shade today we chose to take our cat inside with us so as not to make it suffer in the desert heat. Now I can understand a no animal policy and can respect the private property aspect. However, as we walked in the self service cashier chose to announce over the store PA system that there was a cat in the store. My cat is very well behaved and was resting comfortably in my arms. We were walking from the produce section when the self serve cashier by the name of Julie then chose to shout at the top of her voice that we weren’t allowed to have a cat in the store. This while several dogs without any service animal vests were riding around in the carts. I do not appreciate her lack of manners or training g in how to handle that situation. The correct way to handle it would have been to inform me as I walked past her quietly instead of announcing it on the PA system. It’s entirely possible that I missed a no animal sign but I couldn’t leave a animal in a hot locked vehicle any more then I could another human. Her actions have put a very bad taste in my mouth. Her attitude and her smart mouth should be addressed. At this moment my family and I have decided to cut any future ties with smiths until this person is retrained or removed. This happened at Smiths store in pahrump nv around 5:30pm.

Desired outcome: An apology in writing from the cashier for the embarrassment she caused. Possible retraining in customer service.

Looks like you actually cannot respect a no animal policy. Why bring your cat with you in the first place if you cannot leave it in a vehicle while you shop? Not to mention the danger you are presenting to people allergic to cats who simply want to buy their groceries. You should write an apology to the cashier for being so inconsiderate. You sound like a jerk
