I visited Walgreens in Chatham, NY. I have only been their 2-3 times. The last time was today, April 28, 2021. I used to be a regular customer of the Rite Aid, which was at the same location. When I have shopped at Walgreens at this location I have been repeatedly treated poorly by employees. The first time I tried to shop there, I was stalked around the store; and then talked to like I was a criminal by the male checkout person who appeared to be a manger. He took my ATM card, "looked at it" several times then repeated my name back to me 3-4 times in a hostile, angry manner. I'm a small woman and it gave me the creeps. Today, I had staff stalking me around each aisle as I shopped. The first time I tried to shop there, I was stalked around the store, and then talked to like I was a criminal by the male checkout person who appeared to be a manger. He took my ATM card, "looked at it" several times then repeated my name back to me 3-4 times in a hostile manner. I'm a small woman and it gave me the creeps. In two different aisles, two individuals crowded into my way on purpose, blocking the items I wanted to look at. Meanwhile, I wasn't doing anything unusual. After being stalked around the store for no apparent reason (the items were clearly visible in my car) — a woman at the checkout treated me poorly. After repeating my name in a hostile manner, she then asked me an intrusive and just bizarre question, totally unrelated to anything to do with my purchases. She asked suspiciously and in a gossipy manner about what I had been doing before I shopped at the store that day (as if I was out robbing banks or something?) It was disconcerting. She had no business violating my privacy. Is this how Walgreens trains its employees? I'm a normal, plain-looking woman. As matter of fact, I did very boring things before I went to Walgreens — and the kind of extreme profiling condoned by Walgreens is probably a civil violation. I understand the need for security, but Chatham, NY is not exactly a high-crime area. It is offensive. Your staff act like stalkers toward their own neighbors. Never setting foot in your store again.
Desired outcome: Stop stalking and profiling decent customers.
