Account number [protected] I closed my account 12/15/2020 at that time I asked about returning the old modem we have had since we had for the past 13 years. They told me nothing needs to be returned. It was 3 days into the billing cycle they said I have to pay for the entire month. They took $124.68 out on December 28, 2020. On 1/27/2021 Suddenlink took $4.88 out of my account even though the account was closed on 12/16/2020. They then took $100.00 out of my account on 3/1/2021. I did not authorize them to take any money out of my account after the account was closed. I called and they said it was for the modem that I had not returned and the $4.88 was the monthly charge for use of the modem. They sent me a return mail sticker with instructions and assured me they would put the $104.88 back into my account. I returned the modem and after tracking and making sure it got there I called them again. They said the money would be back in my account within 2 hours, On 3/18/2021 I went to my bank showing them proof of them taking out unauthorized charges after the account was closed. The bank credited my account $104.88. I am now getting a collections letter saying I owe them $4.88 and $60.00 returned check fee. It says if I do not pay they will report it to the credit bureau and ruin my credit.
Desired outcome: Bill gone for $64.88 and collections to stop bothering me. I would also like suddenlink to not be able to commit fraud by taking unauthorized fees out of bank accounts after the account is closed.
