Today I walked into TDBankNorthm thinking that my transaction would be smooth, secure and simple. All I wanted was a new debit card. I sat in the customer service area hearing one of the CS Reps talk about a high profile client on the phone and how TD needs to protect them... I wondered if they felt every customer was "high profile." I don't think so.
I sat down and asked the CS Rep if I could have a new ATM/Debit card. He looked at me strange when I wanted to write down my SS# instead of say it aloud, after he reassured me I told him that I still wanted to write it down on paper. The paper pulled out of the drawer was half of another customers account number and information. I thought that these things were immediately shredded. He screwed up the numbers and asked for my number AGAIN! He gave me the other half of this individuals deposit info ...so I could see ALL of this persons account information making it whole for me to steal his identity. I'm upset that this person's info was so vulnerable because it could have easily been my info as well.
My new debit card felt cheap, there was no raised numbers and letters making it feel like a valid card. It felt strange... I asked him about it and as if I should have known "Yes, these are the new cards as of Sept 20something, for more protection" C'mon TD protection from what, ... seems like you're cutting corners and being CHEAP! and ripping off your customers at the same time with FEES, in addition to leaving vulnerable info open for theft.
I need to take my money out soon. What a big inconvenience.
The rep tells me "Good Luck" when I left. Good luck with what? What unintelligent service.

I'm upset that this person's info was so vulnerable. I thought that they shredded these papers immediately, not just rip them in half and stuff them into a drawer for scrap paper.

If you knew your account number, why should you have to worry about writing down your social security number? Thats a simple solution. Secondly, I believe the cards are much better without the embedded numbers, they do not loose the color as easy after being swiped so many times and in turn your card lasts longer. But your right, shame on TD bank for trying to have you make less trips to the bank for more debit cards! pfff
I am tired of being scammed for every dollar I make from this bank. They are unethical. I have started a blog at the below address. Leave a comment. Leave lots of comments. If I get enough interest, I will start writing to the powers that be in our state houses and Capitol Buildings. I am not well-versed in how this kind of thing works, but I have to believe that if enough people complain about their practices, someone will look into it

I have a question. Whats the difference if it has raised numbers or not? If it works it works. I dont think that anyones gonna look at your card and say " NO! you can't use it. The numbers aren't raised.
And about the ###ed CSR Report him for being an idiot.
