North Shore Animal League America - Adoption Process

First off, this was my second visit to this facility. My first time visit was Saturday, Sept 2nd 2023 in which I arrived to this facility at 11:45 AM. I was told to sign in and to wait for someone to assist me in adopting a cat. At around 2:30 PM, I was told to wait outside because this was "their adoption policy". Then around 3:30 PM I was finally asked if someone was helping me in which I responded no and was just i needed to fill out an application upon walking in which i wasn't given. By then, everyone else had already been helped and walked away with their adopted furbabies. So, i figure I give it a second try after finding out the facility had more cats for adoption. An hour drive and i came back Friday Sept 8th 2023 at 12:35 PM. This time I was shown around and was able to select a cute kitten for the family, and was given and application to fill out to start the adoption process. The staff did their background check where things fell apart. First staff acted like i had no job even though it was clearly on the application that I worked for the City of New York, when speaking with my Wife. Then on the part of pet history we had a fumble of conflicting stories and pretty much told we were lying. I even offer to explain what happened and they didn't want to hear it. We are talking about pets we didn't have anymore and one that had passed away. I truly believe the staff need training on how to deal with different processing situations and to alleviate the stress. I'm not one to pull the race card but in this situation it was really feeling like it was an issue and that they had it in for me from the beginning and i left for my hour trip home thinking how to explain this to my daughter. The staff that had showed me all the cats were truly helpful and I greatly appreciate them.

Desired outcome: I would like to have came home with a cat but I think in this case an apology is needed for putting me through all that chaos.
