We bought the Edenpure 500 Oct. 2007. Used it only occasionally last winter. Stored over summer and just started using last month. Today, we turned it on and it made a loud noise (probably fan) and then stopped. Looks like the element is still working though.
We should be able to open up the fan area and oil it or something. I have not gotten through to the customer service (they are having a high volume of calls- what does that tell you?)

Wow seams to me a lot of people have a product that has many defects. I have had two gen4 units. first one lasted one day and was returned to the big box stoe menards and exchanged for a new unit - My mistake should have got a refund . 2nd unit has a problem with the heating bulbs I suspect . I am not going to spend anything more on this POS . We are taking the loss and moving on . Please DO NOT purchase a Eden pure product read the reviews and you will look at other brands too .
OK Thanks
We have two both quit over the down season, have also sent them in for repairs. warranty is out now .
I owned an EdenPure and it worked fine for a few years, then I began to have difficulty with the noise and the electrical controls, primarily the thermostat that controls auto off/on. Finally I disposed of it, googled space heaters and purchased a couple of the newly designed whole room ceramic heaters for under $75 each, and together they work more quietly and more efficiently than the cluncky EdenPure ever did - even when it was brand spanking NEW!
I purchased an Eden Pure 500 heater in November of 2007. It broke and I had it replaced in February of 2008. Now the replacement heater is broken and the warranty has expired. Neither heater functioned for more than 100 total hours.
Around 2007, I bought an EdenPure 500xl Quartz heater. I didn't find I needed it much so I didn't use it accept maybe 1hr before I put it in storage until about a month ago (December 2013).
I took it out and started using it to heat a room of the house part of the day. Most days I turned it on during the daytime and it was always turned off at night. I used it probably a total of 3 weeks like this when it suddenly stopped heating up.
One morning I turned it on, all the LEDs and the BEEP-BEEP came on as usual, but it never heated up and since it didn't heat up the thermostat never kicked on the fan. I've tried a number of things to get it working again, like, leaving it off (or unplugging it) awhile then turning it on, moving the thermostat up and down...
Nothing works; it's dead and it's actually brand new!
My eden pure runs all the time it doesn't shut off like it used to. Can someone tell me what the problem is
My EdenPURE generally works fine - most of the time - but every now and then it switches from the auto mode to manual and the temperature goes to MAX. It has to be some sort of thermostat problem. I called them to advise them of the problem and to try to find a way to fix it, but they indicate that they have no record of my purchase, so I'm not entitled to service or even advice. Kind of a weird customer service policy.
I bought one Elite (1000 sq. feet) unit about three years ago. Worked fine the first winter. Then the fan broke. Bought another fan ($85.00) replaced the old fan myself and the unit worked for 3 months before the fan broke again. I ordered the third fan and put it in.
It worked for a few HOURS and now the unit is dead.
This product is a bad design, period!
Don't buy this product even if Bob Villa promises you a fantastic future for your great grand children!

My moms XL1000 Eden Pure heater would heat awhile and shut down. The way to get these apart is to remove the side covers, ( screws on bottom and back). Don't need to remove front. Then remove two screws at bottom on outside of metal and 3 screws inside and unit should slide out of case. The blower is in the back. Part of the blower will blow through metal work and out the front of unit, the blower also blows air inside unit. There is a heat sensor(about a 1" square white ceramic looking part with 2 screws) just below the blower mounted on the metal. It is visable. I used an old license plate and cut it about 4" square, and used 2 of the screws that screw to the blower and made a deflection plate for the air to keep the sensor just a little cooler. It may void the warranty but it beats throwing away money we spend on this junk. Hers seems to be working.
I had the same issues we all see. I purchased a reconditioned GEN 4 in June of 2011 for just over $200. It came with a 1 yr warranty
So I have had 2 heating seasons, forget the heating costs as I use it in a room that is hard for my gas heat to get to, I can lower my heat to 66 and have the GEN4 running for just those times I am in the room, it gets toasty. Now 1/2 way through the season it would only blow cold air, I researched on these forums and found this YouTube link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJ0So55j5CE
I ran it several times to make sure of the steps. The hardest part was buying the heating bulbs. $97 + $10 shipping from EdenPure. The best I was able to get was from www.edenpurepartsstore.com, three were $20 ea so $60 + $6.95 shipping and it arrived in less than 5 days. I was able it replace all three(by the way 1 was broken) and the GEN $ is now blowing hot air. This was relatively painless. I think the parts as I look at them should be much lower in price. but this parts company provided me with service a happy customer.
