Steak 'n Shake

Visited this location on sweetest day with my son and infant daughter around 730pm. Immediately regretting it the moment I stepped in the doors. There were at least 10 open tables, all completely dirty, the floors were nasty dirty and there were receipts, straw wrappers, food, and trash everywhere even in the servers section. I wanted to leave but my son begged me to stay because he loves the milkshakes. Reluctantly I agreed. After an extremely long wait a hostess finally greeted us and asked that we wait a while longer so she could clean a table. Meanwhile a line was starting to form behind us to which they were complaining as well about the appearance of the store and the clear lack of management. Finally sat, our server comes to great us and prompts us to order immediately, without having time to look over the menus we just quickly order she walks off, brings back our drinks then we don't see her again for a long time. After what seemed like forever I finally spot her, she sees me looking at her and states that our food will be delivered once she done attending to another table. Once she finally gets around to bringing our food it is cold and the bread is soggy, my son had asked for a side of mushrooms she brought him a side of cheese I asked for the mushrooms she brought them and said I didn't charge you for the cheese. Once again she's gone we finish forcing ourselves to eat our soggy food (had overheard the cook say he had been working 7hr straight with no break and commented he was about to walk off the job,
so did not want to ask for a remake nor did I want to have to wait another ridiculous amount of time for food) once finished my son wanted a dessert but as service so far has proven we sat forever with no server. Finally I told my son we would stop elsewhere for dessert and started gathering our things as to make it obvious that we were ready to leave. After again waiting forever our server never came to provide our check so we gathered our things and walked out. At this point the server came running out the door behind us cursing at us calling me names and threatening to call the cops for theft. I advised that I had no problem paying the bill, but was never provided one. Again she continues to curse at me calling me a [censored] IN FRONT OF MY 10YR OLD SON AND INFANT DAUGHTER! So I make my way back inside, the whole way in she is yelling at me. I ask to speak to a manager, the manager proceeds to tell me it was my fault for walking out, that I should have came to the front and asked for a check. The whole time this server is standing behind him yelling at me. I said so that makes it okay for your server to curse at me and call me names in front of my young children, he just stated that he would "talk" to her about that and comped my meal. Are you serious?!?! Never again will I ever visit this location due to this horrible service, the lack of management, and the dirtiness of the store. Which is a shame considering my kids love your milkshakes and we frequent this location often, typically through the drive thru but they will no longer have our business and I will be sure to tell my experience to everyone I know especially if they mention wanting to visit this location.

Site: floors sticky, tables around us not bussed, the entire time we were there.
Service was terrible, took 5-7 minutes to sit us in and almost empty store. Another 10 minutes at least to take our drink order, and a half an hour to get 3 shakes and a coke. Had to ask the server after 20 minutes if we could have our drinks while we waited on our food, and she said, "oh, I didn't bring your drinks?", after walking past us at least three times. We ordered three taco salads and it took at least another half hour to get those. Over an hour to get 3 shakes, a coke and three taco salads.
We had to go to the counter to get a bill, and did not get a receipt, said the machine couldn't print one. VERY dissatisfied, and this is the second time this has happened. Thought we would give it one more try...Won't happen again, won't go back to that store. Is there another Steak and Shake near enough to us to go for a good timely meal? Not sure if it's management, or staff, something needs to change, or it will go out of business.
