I was contacted by a company, refinance.com, who was working for gmac mortgage to "clean up" some of its mortgages so they could get help from the government. I was told by this company that gmac would rewrite my mortgage to lower the percentage and pay off all my existing credit cards, even pay off my auto loan. I was not able to meet the income level so they added on my parents who were promised the same thing (pay off their credit cards). We were provided a contract stating everything they were going to do, all in the name of gmac mortgage. We had several closings that did not happen for little problems. We even paid for an appraisal on our home. When we realized that we were not going to get any place with them I called gmac and was told that refinance.com should not been promising anything of the kind to us. I have since filed a complaint with the better business bureau in our state, the attorney general of our state and talked to several lawyers who state that we have a case but we do not have the thousands of dollars they require to fight them. I never got a note for my mortgage which the attorneys say is illegal. I am disgusted with the whole system that allows big corporations to take advantage of the little guy.
