Larson Manufacturing - larson storm door

In July, 2011, I purchased a Comfort-Bilt 32" Highland White Storm Door from Lowe's and had them install it. A few years later, I noticed that the aluminum on the inside of the door was starting to crack and peel. When I located my receipt and relevant paperwork ( July 17, 2019), I went to Lowe's with the documentation and photos. I was advised to contact Larson. A Larson representative sent me a warranty complaint form to fill in. I sent the requested information to Larson (Reference # WQ550555) and received an e-mailed response offering me $20 off on a new Larson storm door. My door was only guaranteed for 5 years. My door is literally, rotting away. I contacted Lowe's hoping that they could help me. They (Greg, the department manager in the Lumberton, NJ store), contacted Larson. Larson refused to do more for me. I have all of my original receipts, correspondence, photos. This morning, I looked on-line for contact information for Larson Manufacturing in order to register a complaint about the terrible quality of the storm door. That is when I discovered that numerous other consumers have had the same problem with both the deteriorating door and the unresponsiveness of the company. I also came across your website. A legitimate company would admit the faultiness of the door design and replace and install another door that would not rot away after a few years. An offer of $20 off another door was ridiculous and an insult.

Larson Manufacturing - exhausting handle kit replacement and refund experience

I had a storm door handle break off at a rental property. Tried calling into a representative, but the Larson customer service line always says that "all representatives are busy". Email the customer service inbox in which I describe the issue and provide the door registration information. They email back to use their online shop to purchase the new kit, which they provided the model number of. It turned out that was completely the wrong kit to purchase, and my handyman had to go to Menards instead to just purchase a generic from there. Since then I had to argue with an online rep about mailing back in this kit that they incorrectly recommended, just to get a mailing label to ship back to them (they wanted me to pay for that...?) It was 10 days ago since I mailed the package back to them, and I am only one state over in MN. They say they still do not have it back, so will not issue the refund. This has been unbelievably frustrating, to say the least.

Larson Manufacturing - door model34920 security door

BEWARE!

Purchase Larson Door Model # 34920 if you want to run the risk of MANY days of aggravation, personal insults, condesending lectures, and lack of customer support.

The installer is at fault with Larson. This could be true in some cases, but when the " installer" has hung 100's of Larson doors, follows ALL video, written, and verbal instructions, and properly uses EVERY TOOL that is shown in the TOOLS NEEDED list, then the factory must take responsibility for their product and its engineering.

Beware this locking mechanism system of the door. The customer service supervisor, after 3+ hours of calls to the company, FINALLY divulged that Larson "outsourced the LOCKING mechanism to another company." She stated that the locking mechanism was problematic.

We had to take the entire rail system down, pry the locking hooks loose, and disassemble the handles to even be able to UNLOCK this door. Larson people will want faulty locking mechanisms sent back, but sometimes it is BEST to keep things for your PROOF!

The installation video does not touch the installation problems.

BEWARE! BEWARE!BEWARE! Once purchased your one your own.

We are TOTALLY disgusted with the Larson company. We will NEVER purchase any other Larson products. It is such a shame to loose a good reputation with consumers. What a shame!

My Larson security door saga: Bought door in March from Menard's. Used one of their installers. Two months later bottom latch Wouldn't release essentially locking down my front door entrance. Spent better part of day getting in contact with Larson support. To, Larson's credit, they sent me a new hardware packet. Installed it and still door would not lock due to alignment issues. Hired a handyman to come and align door. For now it works properly. Costs since March to get door to present condition ( working):
Door purchase- 400.00
First installer- 200.00
second handy man- 150.00
total to get a workable door spent- 750.00 not counting on personal time and involvement. Not what I signed up for when I bought the door. Robert of Indianapolis
