We purchased a 2021 Road Glide Special on August 3rd at Black hills Harley Davidson while on vacation. I asked specifically if they knew how to title and register in Maryland and they assured me they did. As of today 09/07/2021, we do not have sufficient paperwork to title or register the bike in our home state. We have made repeated calls and sent repeated e-mails to the dealership. I've called the HD consumer complaint line 2 times now and they are basically useless in helping to resolve issues. Black Hills HD told us last week they mailed the title to us via US Mail, HD consumer complaints today told me they mailed the title to DMV in Maryland. So who knows. I called HD Financials and they were surprised when they looked at the file as they also don't have a title!
Also when we returned home and took the new bile for the 1000 mile service the identical bike was at our home dealership and stickered with a MSRP 6K below what we paid to Black Hills HD. In hindsight Black Hills HD removed all the MSRP tags on the new bikes (Sturgis rally). This was our stupidity for not doing our homework, but they took us for 6K.
At this time we have a bike we paid 6K over the MSRP, We have no documentation to file to register and tag the bike in Maryland. We have a temporary South Dakota tag that expires in 7 days and a bike vacation planned to leave while the tag expires. We cancelled the ESP back on 08/12 and HD Financial corporation still shows this as due, and laughingly told me Black Hills HD would mail me a refund check!
We are expected to start making payments on a motorcycle that we cannot tag or title and Harley Davidson apparently does not care...
This entire ordeal has soured our feelings to HD, a brand that we have supported for over 20 years and 6 motorcycles.
Desired outcome: I want my titling documents! I want my 6K back! I want my ESP refund.
