I have been paying for this warranty for well over a year before ever submitting a service request/claim with American Home Shield. My refrigerator went out. They sent contractor Norrods Appliance Repair [protected] and they were quick to come out and took maybe 5 min to diagnosed the issue which I found strange but I did not question as I don't repair appliances. They said a part needed to be replaced so they ordered it and in 3 days it came to my house. They came that very same day and installed it. They said my fridge will work again. Well, it is not working as it should. My thermostat says it is 35 degree and the fridge is warm. I went and bought a fridge thermostat and as I suspected it was warm. Close to 50 degrees. I contacted AHS and they opened up the service request and gave me the same contractor Norrods. I called and the lady that answered told me that they cant do anything else and that she will submit a second request to AHS so they can send someone else out. SHE LIED and never did that. She wont answer my calls either. THEY ARE GARBAGE. This second request was opened on 6/11/2022. It is 06/27 and my fridge has not been fixed. I call AHS call center which are being outsourced (the calls are going to india or somethiing) they follow some protocol where they all tell you the same thing. They put you on a brief hold so they can contact the contractor then they come back and say they did not answer and that if they don't call back that this issue will be sent to provider relations and I will get an email within the next 24 hours. for 2 weeks almost they have told me the VERY SAME THING. They refuse to transfer me to a manger. The one time they did I spoke to "Cris" ID#8099047 who said this issue had been escalated and that it would get resolved. WELL NOTHING has happened either. There are no notes on files regarding all the times I have called. This is so sad because I am paying for a service that is not being giving to me. I am just so glad that this is a fridge and not an AC unit or something very expensive. DONT GO with AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. THEY ARE GARBAGE.
Desired outcome: FIX my fridge.
American Home Shield [AHS] - Air conditioning
I have two open work orders after I paid the 100.00 service fee. My air conditioner was out for three day in 100+ temperatures I kept calling and got no response from the contractor. The unit is kind of working again. I was told that it was to be replaced. Now i'm told its working fine the contractor told me it was to be replaced. You have 24 hours to replace the unit or I will have my attorney and pursue legal action. I have requested a supervisor or manager to call and have heard nothing.
Desired outcome: Either replace the unit or refund all of my fees no other option is acceptable.
American Home Shield [AHS] - ac service caused my faucets to overflow/plumbing uncovered
I am unsatisfied with my service from AHS. On 6/13, I called about a leak in my Air Conditioner unit (Service: #[protected]). As a result of AHS's recommended contractor flushing the AC unit pipe, the sinks became clogged, causing flooding and overflowing.
Due to the damage caused, I called again with a plumbing service request on 6/17 (Service: #[protected]). AHS sent another one of their recommended plumbing companies. This plumber stated it was a pipe leak and they would need to flush the pipes from the attic or roof and needed AHS approval. The contractor left and I called to check the status of the service. AHS informed me at that time the ticket was closed. I was informed this service was not covered after paying for 2 service visits at $125 each. I had to call another plumber not associated with AHS to come and clear the unclogged pipe under the sink. The incorrect diagnosis led AHS to deny my service. Therefore, I had to call an emergency plumbing company after hours to fix the clogged sink to prevent further overflows and damage. It cost me $590 for a second plumber to come to the house.
As a result of my complaint, AHS sent two companies to resolve my issue. As a result of the first technician's actions, the sinks flooded, necessitating a second call for a plumber. I paid for two service visits, neither of which resolved my problem. These were both covered under my warranty. My issues were not only not resolved fully, but the subcontractors made matters worse. Overall, I am disappointed with AHS. I have attached pictures from Sunrise work performed which did not cause the fix quoted by AHS Subcontractor which in resulted in AHS denial services on I paid for in my plan.
Desired outcome: I would like to be paid $705 directly by AHS. The $705 is for $125 in service fees for the 2nd visit (Service: #[protected]) on 6/17, as well as reimbursements paid to the AC Subcontractor for fixing the issue - $590.
Still no resolution on this company that is a Fraud. They have Outsourced their staffing and the individuals are programmed to respond to your complaint. They have no intent to help resolve your issue with their company.
6/21/22022: An update that AHS is a scam. Definitely look for a different provider. I was told again that, despite failing to perform the work I paid them to do, they won't cover the out-of-pocket cost I incurred due to the wreckless A/C technician and the unskilled plumber, so I am left with a cost of $900.00. A representative contacted me without carefully listening to my concerns with AHS. She told me they will not reimburse me since it wasn't their subcontractor. However, I paid $125 each for 2 service trips with their subcontractors who didn't properly fix my issue but caused more damage. Therefore, in order to prevent further damage to my home, I had to call a plumber to fix the issue the same day.
AHS should ensure they are hiring the best subcontractors for the job so you do not have to pay out-of-pocket for the other companies to handle the situations you are paying under warranty. If AHS is really a Home Warranty and cares about the interests of their customers, then they should make sure they are getting the most qualified individuals to complete the task at hand. These subcontractors made a bad situation worse, so AHS needs to honor their subcontractors' mistakes and reimburse me for the services I had to pay out of pocket.
I am disappointed and an ex-customer of AHS. The entire process is frustrating. The fact you call with an issue is stressful enough but then having to deal with a fraudulent company that does not honor GOOD WARRANTY Service is tiresome and exhausting.
WARNING: Stay away from AHS as they are scams and do not care for their customers. Take your money and spend your time with a company that has its customers' best interest.
American Home Shield [AHS] - Plumbing service
Thursday evening we had our water heater go out, we submitted our claim that night and were assigned the vendor by the morning. Vendor did not follow up with phone call or email. I decided to follow up with the vendor around 3pm Friday as not having hot water for a toddler and pregnant wife is a fair bit of ridiculous. The vendor picks up and states that he had requested the job to be reassigned as he was out of town for the week and that it might be some time as several of the plumbing companies had cancelled their contract with AHS.
Luckily I was able to do some research on the parts and was able to fix it myself, however I was never rendered service as well as had no notification or support form AHS that they were reassigning the vendor, and as of the following Thursday they have no new vendor assigned to ensure my repair is correct and will not cause issues in the future.
Desired outcome: Refund of money and delivery of service.
American Home Shield [AHS] - Customer fraud & senior finance abuse
I am writing to request an investigation into American Home Shield Home Owner's insurance. There are numerous complaints from me, as well as your constituents by this company. I have also filed congressional complaints on this matter in both TN and GA.
My mother is 71, permanently disabled, and depends on me as her primary caregiver in my home. Since June 2021, I have been waiting on a request to repair my HVAC unit but am always routed around the call system, then only reaching people overseas who route me back to start the same process with no resolution. I am being told to wait for the parts department to find a part, which AHS now knows in obsolete. In accordance with the contract, they should be replacing my unit. I am concerned the winter months are approaching and their will be no heat operating on the first floor of my home where my mother stays.
There are numerous complaints of the failure of AHS to meet their contractual obligations but continue to take beneficiaries monthly and annual payments. AHS intentionally uses call center software to get uses lost in the system and force them to only speak with call center reps. There is no way to route to a supervisor or file a complaint. I have over 10 calls in the system, 2 within the last week, and was on hold for 45 minutes only to get disconnected. Each time they lie and say the problem will be escalated but that they cannot let me speak with management. No one ever returns my calls.
Could you please conduct a formal review of AHS and their practices. There are numerous online complaints, BBB reviews so clearly there is a problem. AHS is breaching their own contract but still trying to improperly enforce contractual obligations on recipients without providing any services, but taking their money. These are unfair business practices to home owners during COVID that should not be allowed.
Please advise. It is best to reach me on my mobile number at [protected].
Desired outcome: pay for repair of my HVAC or replace my HVAC
I see most cases have been checked resolved but this one?
American Home Shield [AHS] - Air conditioning system (central, electric) not working
Our Air Conditioning unit has been giving us problems since April 2021.
Here is a history of the service calls:
4/12/2021 - Tempest HVAC Inc. replaced the capacitor. AC worked for acouple of wks. We paid $75 for this service call.
We placed a service call less than 30days from the 4/12 service. AHS assigned a new service company.
5/12/21 - E&A Mechanical Inc. replaced the condenser fan and cleaned . We paid $75 for this service call. A/C partially worked for a bit. It could not seem to keep up with on-going high temperatures.
We placed another service call, 30days from the last call. 33days later, AHS send another service company out.
6/21/21 - Tempest HVAC Inc. added 2lbs of Freon. We paid $75 for the service call and $80 for the Freon. A/C worked a couple of days.
Less than 9 days later, we placed another service call.
6/30/21 - E&A Mechanical Inc. came out and shook some wires or tubes in the attic. AC worked for a couple of days after they left.
Less than 17 days later, we placed another service call.
7/17/21 - Tempest HVAC Inc. came out. The Service tech said that he would request a leak test. He thought it could be a bad condenser. Left us with AC still not working.
7/21/21 - We call Tempest to see what was going on because we had not heard from anyone. They said that AHS had assigned a new service company.
7/27/21 - Platinum Repair Inc. came out. The guy said the Freon was gone. He added water for a leak test. He said it was possibly a bad condenser.
This weekend and at least the next week are supposed to get into triple digit heat. I am now worried about our safety and the possibility of heat stroke if we do not get this AC fixed. My husband and I are senior citizens and I have asthma.
For the past 4 months the AC has mostly not worked. The AC has completely quit working since Jul y 2nd. August is supposed to be even hotter than July. Please help us get this AC fixed as soon as possible.
Our agreement # [protected]
Property: 18906 Basel St., Canyon Country, CA 91351
Desired outcome: Get air conditioner working or replaced as soon as possible
as of today, August 4, 2021, our AC is still not working. the last company has been out twice. they have no idea what is wrong. they just keep running tests. it was 105°f today. AHS has no intention of fixing our ac, so we will have their repair server put every week to try to fix the ac until they finally replace it. we survived 105° and we are retired, we can do this the rest of the year. their.contract says they will not charge us if the repair call for the same appliance is less than 30days. we will call e ery week.
I am so sorry for your troubles. I know first hand that AHS treats customers with contempt and remains in business because individually we don't matter. They "low ball" their contractors and as a result, the people who continue to be service providers are the bottom of their category. I hope that you can accumulate sufficient attention to get the service you deserve.
American Home Shield [AHS] - Unpaid invoices on jobs completed
I am a contractor for American Home Shield and my rep Zoe Ruchti had agreed to get 16 unpaid invoices paid. These were jobs completed from October 2019-the end of Dec. 2019. In February 2020 I contacted Zoe regarding these invoices. Zoe has given me a run around for the last 11 months and I still have not been paid for those jobs that I completed for them. American Home Shield replies back on not paying with the reason they were not getting the correct information, or they didn't get the information on time. I have tried over and over again and again on closing these invoices and getting paid and submitting the invoices that were completed. It seams like the conversation on this issue is forgotten every time I call. I've tried to resolve this other ways on contacting other personnel with ams. Those people refer me back to Zoe Ruchti. I have had to up the cost of insurance just to do business with ams and although I have jumped through every hoop to satisfy ams on getting paid, they still will not pay me.
Desired outcome: Pay the remaining invoice for $3,835.00
American Home Shield [AHS] - Failed service and failed promise to not charge. Bank of america backs ahs sadly.
I received some repair requests from the housing department under rent stabilization. I had a contract with american home shield (ahs) and thought they might be able to help. I was told that ahs did not cover housing department repairs. I then requested to cancel my home warranty plan with ahs. Ahs rethought their decision to not handle housing department repairs and told me they could send a repair person out to cover a leak. Ahs wanted me to pay the call-fee in advance and I declined telling them if the repair was not done I would not be responsible to pay. Ahs agreed that if the repair person could not do the work there would be no charge for a service-fee. However, the same plumbers who'd made other leak repairs came and declined to repair the leak. At the same time ahs setup the same situation for a furnace repair where a permit had to be gotten. The repair person said he needed to see the furnace but that it would not cost me a trip-fee. That repairman came out, looked at the furnace and told me it would be a $6000-job. Of course I declined. Both situations were hurried by ahs and I was told there would be no service-call fees if the work was not done. That was a lie! A very big lie! Because ahs went back into my records and discovered a bank of america credit card in their file and without my permission charged two service-call fees of $100 each for a total of $200. Bank of america did not make matters any better because they sided with ahs and allowed them to make the charges on my then closed bank of america (bofa) credit card. Bofa is still harassing me about the charges and trying to make my "perfect" credit bad. I'm so discouraged and disappointed with these two companies who have conspired together against me and my good credit. I'm still looking for some help that will assist me to stop these two companies from discriminating against me and forcing me to pay charges that should not be charged against me. Does anyone know of any help? If so, please advise
