Booked Hotel in Baltimore in May, 2020. In early July tried to contact hotel to verify they would be open due to Covid concerns. No one answered. tried numerous times over next few weeks with no success. Contacted Hotels.com later in July. They tried unsuccessfully. Told me to call back. This went on and it was the same result until today, the day before my check-in date, when I called them we went through the same process of them calling and getting no answer. I explained that I could not drive 8 hours to arrive and not have a place to stay. She said if they were not open they would try to place me to which I repeated that I could not drive 8 hours for them to try and find a place and me be stranded with no place to stay the night other than my vehicle. While on hold I looked at their website reviews of the hotel in question and numerous people have stated when they arrived that the hotel was closed and there was a sign on the door redirecting them to a dumpy hotel down the street that charged them money on top of what was already collected by Hotels.com. On top of that a few of them reported items stolen from that hotel during their stay. So essentially it is a bait and switch where Hotels.com is taking money for a room at a Hotel that is not even open and refused to guarantee me a room upon arrival or refund my money. Attached are the actual reviews on the Hotels.com website affirming what I stated above.
