Reserved King bed, arrived just after 1am, apparently in the midst of the NIGHT AUDIT. So, got to stand in the incredibly sterile-looking lobby until almost 1:30am... wasn't told there was a problem at check-in. We got to the room, opened the door and were hit with smell of stale cigarettes! Coughed, then saw 2 full beds. Called desk, explained reservation was for king room and that I'm incredibly allergic to cigarette smoke! "Sorry, we're completely booked, I have nothing else to give you."
I asked clerk to call the manager and explain this is not an acceptable situation (repeated request several times until he agreed). No call back after several minutes, so I went back to front desk. He said he was just about to call me back, the manager hadn't returned his call. He reiterated there were no other options, except to cancel and refund. We had arrived almost an hour ago - had he told us up front all they had left was a toxic room, (and whatever other room they gave the lady behind us who came in just as night audit finished), we could have been most of the way to Van Horn (and probably a much nicer room). This is WAY beyond unacceptable; LA Quinta is dead to us now. And, if I'm not in the ER by breakfast, you will hear MUCH MORE from me about this debacle! (current time, 2:32am; reservation is under Harvison)
Desired outcome: ⁶Refund our "points" (x10!), pay my ER bill (if it comes to that), train your staff to BE PREPARED TO ACOMMODATE CHECK-INS DURING NIGHT AUDIT (DUH!), and clean this hotel up -it is disgusting! Never treat another customer like that!
