Tonight, July 17th, 2023, I visited the Waffle House in Hampton Virginia on 1811 W Mercury Blvd for a to-go order. The lady who took my order overcharged me and started giving me reasons as to why the total came to what it was. I suggested that she get someone to help her because it seems she didn't know what she was doing. One of the other employees helped and got the price correct. The other employee stated "If you are going to be rude, you can go to the other Waffle house down the street". That comment was bothersome because I shouldn't have to go to another Waffle House just for expressing an opinion or suggestion. My initial response was to just leave but I decided I didn'nt want to waste the gas to drive elsewhere when I was already at a Waffle House. I turned around and asked for my original order placed. Thet refused me service at that point and called their supervisor. The supervisor had them call the cops on me. I've never been arrested for anything in my life, so naturally I felt that calling the cops was totally unwarranted. That was total lack of descretion on her part. Also, I've never been kicked out of a place of business merely for expressing a concern/opinion/suggestion. I'm a taxpayer, veteran and educated person with a master's degree. I understand it's a private corporation, but freedom of speech should be allowed as long as there are no actual name calling or insults. That situation was turned into a bigger thing that resulted in cops showing up necessarily all because the manager lacked descretion to properly handle the situation.
Desired outcome: Apology for refusing me service merely for expressing an opinion or suggestion and calling the cops when it was unwarranted and the freedom to express my opinion or concern without retaliation and without it being taken personal.
