These peopel have been giving my wife the run around. She has asked for her money because we needed the money for our home and we needed it fast. They told us 2 - 3 days...3 days later nothing. We even gave them our credit card number to overnight the check to us. Still no chack. NExt call they tell us 4-5 days. 5 days later still no check. CAll back and they say they need to verify termination date (which they already have). Still no check. The government needs to control these people as they are CROOKS and when you refuse to give someone THEIR money they are criminals. HORRIBLE company with poor ethics.

I just got off the phone with Valic...again. I have literally been trying to get money rolled over from an account thee for 4 years! This is the worst customer service I have received from any company I have ever dealt with. Do not do business with them!
Yes me and my Husband going through the run around too they need a law suit going
I agree there should be a regulatory body to deal with these crooks. I have spoken to a Valic customer support personnel 8 times over the last few months and every time I would get a different answer. I asked for hardship withdrawal, I was told I didn't qualify, I was told to fill out a disbursement form after informing Valic that I no longer worked for my employer. I sent the form on the fifteenth of February 2017. I didn't hear back, so I called on 21st which was yesterday, was told that I didn't supply email because that is how they communicate. I asked how long the process would take after faxing the corrected form? The response from person #1 was it would be processed that day and shipped overnight for 25 dollars. That was at 8 am mountain time. At 2:50 pm mountain time I called to check the status and was told that all information had been verified and that it was being processed and it would be sent out by 5pm, call back then to receive the tracking information. Called back at 6pm mountain time and was told by David that it would take 2-3 business days since it was just received that day. I asked to speak to a supervisor, his name was Joshua, he preceded to tell me that it would take at least 24-48 hours to process and then a check would be overnighted by Friday. He stated that they needed to verify that I was no longer employed which was causing the delay. I told him that I would like to speak to his boss because of all the misinformation, I was then told that I would need to call back, I told him I would. He then said he would try to see what he could do to expedite the process. This morning February 22nd, I faxed over a document from the employer stating my date of discharge prior to calling. I called and again spoke to David who now says it would take another 5-7 days to process due to employer verification, I told him that I had faxed over verification, he then went into a spiel about the processing of millions of checks a day at which point I asked to speak to someone above him. I was transferred to another supervisor named Bridget who started the same spiel about 5-7 days for processing. I informed her that this information was given on 2/15/17 this should be the start date of processing whether some of the information was incorrect or missing shouldn't matter, now that they have the correct information the process should be continued and or completed and monies disbursed. Let us get together and file a class.action lawsuit.
I agree. I have only had my retirement account set up with them for three years but I went in aggressively thinking that I was doing the right thing but everything that you stated happened to me. Each time that you call it's something different Everytime even when speaking to the supervisor if there is such a thing. Her name was Kathy. So after reading this I know now that I should not be expecting to receive funds anytime soon.
After reading your comments I feel lucky. My ordeal with VALIC has only been going on for a month. I have the same story as you - Buyin a house and wanted to use my money as a down payment. I was told what to do from the specialist who helps you close out accounts. It took 10 days to get the correct forms to me. No money so I called. Was told I needed a Medalilion emblem. Went to the bank no one there could figure out why I needed it and it was a 72 hour process. They expedited the process for me and I was able to fax forms the next day. Still no money. Paperwork was not filled out correctly! I needed vesting info- After I railed at the woman, told her I would lose the house because settlement was in 4days- she faxed the forms to my former employers and I called and within 10 minutes the info was faxed back to them. So once again I expected to see the money in my account but two days before my closing I got a check in the mail. Fortunately my bank has intervened once again and I will be able to go to them tomorrow morning before closing and get a cashiers check. I am furious!
This is a horrible company to deal with. Every time I call I get the run around. I requested my account to be closed and I will pay the penalties and taxes. Filled everything out and I had all forms signed by a Notory of republic I was told that it would take about 3-4 days for review and then my check would be mailed within 7 days .What a joke they now say I’m not eligible? My company/Hospital is being bought out and they are going with a new company. Valic said they had no proof of that . Omg something needs to be done legally.
