I enabled 2FA on my ETrade account. They forced me to use this app vs my other 2FA app I use for all of my other accounts. Got it set up. Just went to sign in and it’s saying I’m entering in the wrong code for 2FA. How is this already out of sync? I just set it up. So what’s my other option? None. For ETrade you have to use this Authenticator. So now I’ve been on hold for 30 min waiting to talk to someone at ETrade to resolve this issue. I hate that my employer uses ETrade. I would advise no one use VIP Access or ETrade. 0/5 do not recommend.

I have spent an hour of my life, that I will never get back, trying to log into my account MULTIPLE times using this app. VPN on or off makes no difference. I’m a reasonably intelligent person -having piloted airplanes, surveyed land, and built engines. This app refused to allow me to log onto my financial account using the access code as stated. I don’t believe it interfaces when the code is sent using my iphone11. Thankfully, lives don't depend on this app, or there would be bodies strewn everywhere. Go back to the drawing board. I’m deleting this catastrophe.

There is absolutely no reason to post anything less than 5 s for this application. Anything less and your demonstrating your level of intelligence, especially reviews slamming the app for using SMS as part of the registration process of all things. Save yourself the whining and give your  to someone that will use itThe app itself is user friendly and delivers an extra layer of security as advertised. Registering and activating is a little tricky as some may find, but once your up and running the app is pretty much flawless. I'm looking forward to more sites utilizing this technology.

The prior version was much better. The Push notification user experience was more fluid and easier for end-users. The alerts in this version are flaky, sometimes they work sometimes they don't for no reason. Now that you have to manually toggle back to the application after the push notification makes it very complicated in this version. The prior versions color scheme and contrast was much easier to read. Please consider bringing back the positive functionality and features of the prior version in your next release. We are trying to roll this out to 68,000 users. It's critical that you improve the user experience.

I have registered on Paypal, then I was told ebay has to be registered separately through Paypal, I tried it goes in circles and will not do it.Paypal and eBay support had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned VIP Access and kept advising me to call the other parties involved (i.e. eBay support kept telling me that I had to call Paypal support and when I called Paypal support I was told I had to call eBay). I was not able to reach Verisign which I imagine would know better than referring me to eBay or Paypal. Overall, frustrating setting and very unfriendly with poor ducumentation and inacurate instructions.

If you upgrade your phone, the application will not work on the new phone! I upgraded to a 3GS and when I launched this application, the security code was blank. The only thing that saved the day was I still had access to my old phone and could use VIP access to log into my vendor accounts and de-activate the key. You then need to delete and re-install (twice in my case) to flush the old key and go through the setup process again.Had I not had access to my old phone, this would have been a nightmare scenario. This is a good application. I asked for it on my blog a year ago and Verisign followed-up with me several times. I think we just need to work out the process for upgrading to make it smoother so people don't get stuck with non-working keys.

My employer encourages use of VIP Access for iPhone users. The problem is that prior to version 2.0.5 *every synchblasted my credential ID. So each time I backed up my iPhone, I had to 1) delete the app from my phone; 2) re-download it; and 3) call our help desk to register with the new credential ID. So an app that is by definition targeted at remote / mobile employees breaks every time an employee backs up his/her mobile device. Oh, the irony.

That said, Symantec (nee Verisign) finally got it right, and now the app works, even through synchs.

Still giving only 4 stars, though, as iTunes throws an odd error message about not being able to back up the app. I understand that may be a security thing, but really, have the warning appear once and then go away.

This app works fine if you only need it for one site. If you need it for multiple sites (a lot of financial institutions seem to be in love with this app specifically) then you will be sharing the same security code across all of these site which is a huge security risk. Yes amazingly there is no way to generate multiple sets of codes for different sites… on an authenticator app. Symantec tried to reinvent the wheel with this app and failed miserably. Also there is no way to back up or recover your credential ID that the app generates with every install of the app so if you ever lose or break your phone, good luck getting into your accounts. I went back to just using a strong password and PIN rather than share the same code across all of my financial accounts. Terrible implementation here.

It works very well. Unfortunately Paypal makes it difficult by burying the link to activate this token for use on their (and Ebay's) site to login. This takes several steps so pay attention. Once you have activated the Verisign VIP application on your phone, go to Paypal's site using a desktop or laptop computer, and login as you normally would. On the left, click on the link 'All New Security Center' located under 'What's New' on the left side of the page. Then click on the link 'Security Tools' located under Online Safety Essentials on the bottom. Then find and click the link 'Paypal Security Token Overview'. Once there, on the right, there's a box that says- Already Have a Security Key? You do, so click on the 'Activate Now' button. Click 'Activate', then click 'Use a VIP token on Paypal'. Fire up the VIP application on your phone and enter the serial number and two consecutive codes on Paypal's site to active.

I am on a iphone 4, and thought this would be a excellant application to use to secure my paypal account. I was horribly wrong!

You see, on my iphone 4 I tend to close applications through the multitasking menu in order to preserve battery life. So naturally after I set up this app to work with paypal I closed it, double tapped my home button, press and held on the icon, and closed the application. Well when I went to log into my paypal account about a hour later I find that I am unable to get in.

What had happend was that when I closed the application it reset my Credental ID code! So I ended up having to digg out my other information and deactivate this service on paypal.

After this I decided to run a few tests, and I have discovered that force closing the application is not the only way to get this horrible bug. Simply restarting your iphone causes the CID to change! So if you use this service then you better hope that your phone doesnt run out of battery, because as soon as it does then you will have to deactivate it like I did!

I can understand that security is a high priority, but this is just is to much of a hassle to put up with. You can at least have it remember your CID between application closes, I dont see how this could be any more or less "comprimising" as having a official keythob!

If you're planning on using this app in conjunction with a desktop or laptop computer, whereby you can have your iphone with a security key sitting next to you while you login in to your secure site, then great. This is the app for you. HOWEVER, if you want to login to a site that requires you to enter your key from your iPhone this app's not so good. There is no way to, quickly enough (the Verisign key changes every 30 secs) go from the login page to your VIP Access app to get the number then back to the login page, where you usually have to re-enter your user id and password again, to sign in. When all you have is your iPhone there needs to be an easy way to go from your login page, (e.g. Paypal) directly to your VIP Access page and then back to that login page where you left off to enter your key. Or if you could copy and paste the key from VIP Access that would help, but you still may not have enough time to get it all done within 30 secs.Conclusion: Great for stationary work when you have another computer...not so great for when your traveling around and all you have is your iPhone, which in my opinion defeats the purpose of having an iPhone app. I give this 3 stars because, while it does save the user from having to having to spend money on acquiring a Verisign key card, it really prohibits the user's ability to access Verisign secured accounts while being mobile.

I first implemented a key generator working with the first folks to build such a device for a major bank back in the early '80's for internal applications. This technology is really secure and is the wave of the future.While it's old technology, it's what is sorely needed to protect from fraud in today's world. Having worked for a financial instituition I can honestly say that the reason this technology has not been made widespread is cost. Cost of the device, cost of authentication for the seller, and cost of support. It's simply easier to let the consumer pay for the cost of fraud.What's changed is that we know have technology like the iPhone and technology for sellers has dramatically improved. The future has arrived!To Verisign - good job, but don't stop. Let's see some ads on TV with specific examples and a splash showing places where it's accepted. Work with Apple further integration so you can log in directly to browsers, etc. and with security vendors to implement functionality natively. Lastly, let's see you put the key in various barcodes so that the key can be read at POS terminals without having to input a key. Make these changes and you will get 5 stars and an adamant supporter!To Apple - Let's see more seemless integration. The iPhone is the wave of the future and here's a perfect use. Much better to work on and tout something like this than the 10th version of an application that does the same trivial thing. Join Verisign and put on the TV ad.To all of us iPhone users - get it, use it, inundate sellers that don't offer the option with emails.Bottom Line - it works great, it increases your safety greatly, and it's free!

The Apple Watch app literally does not work- the code it shows is always out of date and you have to wait the full 30 seconds for it to sync with the server and get a valid code, meaning there is literally no use-case for the Apple Watch app.

Hey VIP engineers: don’t offer a product unless it actually works! You set the expectation of a service by offering the Watch app and it is nothing but a complete and utter failure.

doesn't activate on tmobile sms. in fact, this is the ONLY service I've found that doesn't, and I know my edge connection is rock solid since I'm also happily enabled for MMS. So, I can only deduce a reason for this - AT&T have to be sharing customer identification info with Verisign (heck, we know ALL their traffic is piped to the NSA anyway).I can see government would want that - 100% confirmation of your identity when making financial transactions. This ones spooky.

Codes work. Haptic Touch to “accept” still broken. iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Literally every other app in my iPhone has now been updated but this one. Happy holidays @symantec. Thanks for not fixing this.

Since iOS 13.2+ I have to use the code instead of the “approve” button as I keep getting error 5001.
I’m hoping a fix is coming as the convenience has dropped in half now.

Required to log in to my business account and e mail for a new job. PC version works fine. This IOS version does not work at all, in any way. Every time I enter the code it is said to be invalid. Even when I go directly to the VIP website and try to test the credentials there it does not work. Customer support is non existent. Not clear answers given anywhere to trouble my issues. Going to call my employer’s help hotline and hope they can help me. Couldn’t be more dissatisfied and disappointed in an app’s performance.

This version brags about enabling proximity-based locking/unlocking, buuuut that requires a VIP desktop app version of 2.0 ... which doesn't exist.
