Magazines
In 2018 I was called by this company and pitched sale of magazines at a "great discount". So I was told that I could sign up for 5 magazines and pay something like 39.99 a month. If I didn't like the magazines I could cancel those and change them out for different magazines. I understood that the 39.99 would cover them for 2 years and I could cancel anytime. I changed some of my magazines but realize now that instead of being told that they were adding on each magazine I changed instead of including them in my 2 year plan. This is a company that does business from a PO Box so that should tell you something. Today I called for a payoff on my account and was told that the payoff is $534.68. What a rip-off. Do not do business with this company. They are scammers.
Online billing
This is the story. I was originally contacted and conned into taking subscriptions to a few magazines that, in all honesty, I don't want AT ALL.
However, I took them, and, I've been making payments online every month since then, and, no longer get a paper bill (less landfill and all). Because of that, I also don't know my nine digit account number. I've been registered to do this online since January of this year, and, never had a problem until now.
I get a message saying that my email account is in error.
How can this be? I've been getting emails to this same account for several years, and, I can assure you that it's not an error. So, I will give you my email address here:
[protected]@gmail.com
Because this is the last day of the month, and, the bill is due tomorrow (October 1), I cannot make this payment. If you finally wake up and allow this email address to let me get into my account, I will gladly send you this month's blood money for magazines that I don't want and don't read.
If you decide that that's too much, then send me a paper bill, and, I will re-register with my account number. Otherwise, I will not, no matter how much you threaten to put it into collection, try to pay this bill. If you start threatening me, I will contact the Better Business Bureau and put pressure on you so tight you'll wish you'd done as I asked, and, not give me any more problems.
I look at it like this. Seeing as how I conned into paying for unwanted magazines for the two years starting this past January, I would still be paying you until January of 2021. In fact, I will circle the date of January 20, 2021 as the date I no longer have to pay for this dis-service and it will also be the day that we say good-bye to the Great Orange Toddler, and, he goes back to his gaudy tower in Manhattan.
The vip readers service has been scamming me
Hello, I received a call from VIP Readers Service about around March of 2019 claiming I was entered into a deep stakes. They claimed I could get a magazine subscription service along with a free magazine for about $39 a month.
When they called me, they lead me to believe this payment was single time. I called them saying I wanted to cancel and they say I'm not allowed. They are billing me every month for their services and I'm unhappy with their magazines and their poor service.
I have received damaged magazines and some have never been mailed to me. I don't want to pay for their poor services. Please I need help!

Vip readers
So when I first moved into my new house I got a call from VIP readers. They try to get me to do this and They told me I can try it out and if I want to cancel it I could. I told them no several times and this being my first time out on my own I said ok. I forgot about them because It took like a month or more to get my first magazines so when I called to cancel they said I couldn't because it was past the two week time period to cancel that they never told me about so now I have to pay $27 every month for the next two or three years.
Contract scam
I, too, was told that I could cancel this service at anytime. And could look at and change my magazine choice at anytime. Neither is true and customer service can't get much ruder. The quality of magazines isn't good and the choices of magazines are slim, and many unheard of. I don't know if I need to call the attorney generals' office or what I need to do.
I told them to stop sending me magazines/calling. I lost my job.
I just lost my job told the operators that. They keep calling and mailing me magazines that I can no longer afford. They are harassing me now. I have no money for the magazines cant afford to pay. They are awfully pushy to pay. I got no money for the magazines. If I do pay them I can't afford to eat. I was told I can unsubscribe at any time. But that is not true.
Magazines ordered are incorrect
In February 2018, I got a call regarding a magazine subscription. I wanted the Star magazine, I have cognitive problems and like the crossword in the Star
I was immediately charged 39.90 and had to pick additional magazines. I received a letter from VIP that the publisher won't let me subscribe to Star because I already do. I have never had one. They reinstated it. I was charged another 39.90, having not received any magazines. The variety puzzles were too hard so I changed to OK magazine. I got People magazine which my sister who lives with me already gets. They sent me easier variety puzzles., not requested, which are too difficult for my brain condition. I have been getting nasty calls. I will never receive Star, it is no longer available. I have paid $120 for 14 magazines, almost 9 apiece. They said I keep paying and the issues will continue after 48 months. I may be dead by then. I am on disability and was scammed. I have good credit and shouldn't get to collections. I did not get what I ordered. They also can cancel a magazine at will. HELP
Magazines
I tried to cancel probably 5 minutes after I hung up with the rep. I felt trapped by this Rep. When I hung up I calculated the cost and immediately called back I was told I cannot cancel. I've never heard of ANY company where you are trapped into something you cannot get out of. I feel we all should see if there is a lawyer who will look into this. It doesn't sound legal. I've been paying these people since early last year. You know they trap the vulnerable. The fact that we cannot cancel I don't get it.
I signed up in oct 24 months ago and i've never received a magazine from this company.
I signed up with the Vip Readers Service on Oct 28 2015; I have never received any magazines from this company. I called within the first 60 days and told them I wanted to cancel there service. I spoke to Bandy the women who signed me up; and she said she couldn't help me; I had to wait to get the magazines started. I than spoke to Brandy 90 days after I signed and still didn't get any results. They have been taking 39.90 Out every month even I keep telling them That I Still Haven't Received any Magazines! I want My Money Back for something I still Haven't received...

Magazine purchase
After listening to the pitch and be promised entry for a prize drawing in a moment of weakness and good conversation I agreed to purchase some magazines. They kept having to repeat back and re-record confirmation of the order because the amounts and payment schedule was confusing. I'm sure they could splice together any bits from the recording to sound like I agreed to everything. I got off the phone and regretted it. After I got the first notice and watch I reached out to cancel. I emailed several times. I got one response that said basically they cannot undue the commitments they make to the publishers and I was obligated for 4 years. I would have NEVER made an obligation that long. In the meantime, some unexpected medical situations in our family took priority. I received a call after getting a few of the magazines. They had gotten payment from our credit card. We called the credit card company and declined future payments. Now they call and call. I only took one call - I told them I was sorry but there would be no future payments. My credit is solid and I feel this is a scam. Who does this without offering the customer options to cancel? Unethical. I am registering this complaint and will not be making payments due to other life priorities.
Vip readers' service is a scam
I have been scammed, what was explained to me was that I would get a charged 39.99 for some magazines which I did pay the end of July 2017 and I I was told the magazines will be delivered by the end of August 2017, I never received them. I tried calling vip readers with in the 10 days to stop delivery due to understanding it is a scam but customer service never answered me with in that 10 days. I finally got through after the 10 days when the rep told me magazines will be delivered 1st Sep 2017(another month again) now they telling me 1st November 2017 but harassing me for payment with out product. A supervisor Brandy dealt with me who they are now saying never worked there. She gave me her desk #[protected] which she never answers. Now Tanya told me that i cannot cancel and that i was obligated to pay the 39.99 for 24 more payments. I was also never told that i could not cancel this subscription. I asked the rep to let me hear the recording of our so call agreement, but the yet to to let me hear it.
Cancellation of service.
I spoke with a 'service rep.' today to verify my account was cancelled. I had received 2 email messages that verified it was cancelled.
The 'rep.' told me they don't 'use email(s)' to communicate (?) and that the form for cancellation was enclosed in the box containing the 'free' watch I had received...the watch was broken, the latch came off the 1st. time I tried to strap it on!
According to 'them' I had 10 business days to send in this form; 1. I had not received this watch until 7 business days AFTER I had spoke with the sales person, it would've taken a week to get this form to them = not possible! 2. The information provided about this cancellation paper was not known to me until I spoke with them today (8/17/16).
The email(s) they claim they DON'T use, I have retained in a PC., I have no way to send them to this Co. and data to do so was not supplied.
I've allowed them to 'take' one payment, but will speak with my bank and end this. All I care to do is 'repair' a mistake made under the pressure & fast talk of the sales person, on commission no doubt. I don't want, need or have any use for the magazines 'shoved' at me by the sales dept.
She did the same thing to me I have been sending all the magazines back and I never got the watch either. They keep calling but I dont answer . They said I cannot cancel either. I ended up cancelling my debit card. What do I do about this bill I'm getting every month it up to 84.80 now
Unethical behaviour
I was contacted by VIP reader services and told about 4 magazines that I could receive for a one time fee of 19.95. But then I started receiving phone calls two and three times a day 7 days a week until I finally I was forced to change my phone number, Now I get bills a couple times a month saying that I owe 39.95 a month for two years. I am on Social Security and it is a toss up between food or medicine so I can't waste money on useless magazines I have tried numerous times to cancel but they don't want to hear of it
Fiancee agreed to $19.95 for 3 magazines. Then they started charging $39.99 / month. She called to cancel and they said she couldn't. Then the price went up to $45. TOTAL SCAM! Don't bow down, people. They are NOT going to take you to court. They use that threat to shut you up. They're not ABOUT to defend their business practices OR pay an attorney in another state to collect on a fictitious contract.
VIP READERS SERVICE SCAM
SCAM or not. I can not afford $39.00 (for 24 months) to be coming out of my bank account for any reason let alone magazines I neither want or read. I called to cancel my account and was told the only thing they can do is lower my payments to approximately$ 21, 00 for 34 additional months. I was not told I couldn't cancel the account. Every time they remove $40 from my account something else bounces usually a utility, or I am left short on food or prescription medication money. This is so unfair. I, or anyone should be able to cancel something they are unable to afford any longer. Maybe $40 is not a big deal to some people but when it meand having your water or electric shut off or not being able to afford your prescription medications, i.e. insulin, it is a big deal! Is there any way to cancel this contract that anyone knows of?

I never chose any magazines, started getting trash magazines that I could not cancel. $19.99 turned to $39.00. Could not get to anyone, the collection department only said, we have your voice confirming your unbreakable contract. Six months later the said they would stop the magazines, if I sent them $550.00 to avoid a law suit. I even tried to pay that on line, several times but the line took my information, and the line went dead!
Magazines
My 78 year old mother was contacted by telephone by vip readers services and conned into a 4 year "contract' at $39.99 a month with a verbal recorded "contract". She understood it to be a one time fee and that she could cancel at anytime. Not so, she has already spent well over $2000.00 and have repeatedly called to speak to someone to cancel and have been told rudely that that can't happen. We have canceled the card they had on file and have told them to stop sending magazines many times. My mother who is easily confused and forgetful is being bullied and harassed. When she showed me the invoice I called and tried to cancel but they refused. I would like vip readers service to stop calling her telephone and sending my mother invoices and collections threats constantly. They have already collected over $2000.00 from her over 2 years. Seniors are an unfortunate victim of corrupt companies like vip readers services.
Called me saying I had won a contest by my bank and would be getting magazines for 2 years and all I had to do was say what magazines I wanted and to pay $39.00 a month. I am in school now and have changed my mind and credit card, still owe there money.
Big marketing scam
1. Was contacted via phone. Was given great special rate on magazines 10 for 19.95 a month for one year. I took the bait hook line and sinker. #1 red flag: too good to be true. Didn't listen.
2. Was told I could change magazines any time. Thought cool. NOT COOL! Every time I did they renewed my entire subscribe all over again from the start. I have now been paying over 35.00 dollars over the last 3 years and still owe another 350.00 dollars to close my account.
3. I get magazines periodically that I don't believe I ordered. Can't be for sure. Too afraid to call customer service due to the forked tongue approach and end up with more subscriptions.
4. NO WRITTEN CONTACT EVER SENT. SNAIL MAIL, EMAIL OR PONY EXPRESS MAIL. OMG
5. PLEASE, please, please do not get involved with these people.
6. If you have had problems with this company I also feel a class action law suit would be fitting.
7. Thanks for reading.
This company is impossible to deal with. l tried to call and cannot reach anyone. They have been taking out $39.90 each month for almost three years. l am now getting magazines that l did not ever order. l am a 73-year-old woman and have no use for SHAPE MAG., COSMOPOLITAN. If there is a Class Action Suit against this Company l would like to know how to get in on it. l am living on a very limited income and am fed up with this company.
They didn't send magazines and impossible to reach the supervisor
I was contacted by the rep from the company VIP Readers Services. They offered me to subscribe for the 5 magazines and would cost me only $35.99 per months. I agreed and asked if I could cancel it at any time. The rep told “yes”, so after that I only paid money, but didn’t get anything from them. I called them and asked to provide the supervisor, but I heard only fake promises that he would call me soon. And nothing. Don’t believe them and don’t subscribe for this fake offer.
I signed up for Vip Readers Services few months ago but now when I lost my job I couldn’t afford to pay for the subscription anymore. I emailed them and asked for refund but was told that no refunds are possible. What a rip off, it should always be possible to get the money back for the part of the service that you haven’t received yet. Avoid this rip off company.
Contract that you do not understand or sign
I made the mistake of getting caught up in the VIP Magazine Service. Ever so often I get a call and they want to add one more magazine and extend the time period. I have been very clear that I do not want to do this. Well on March 28, I get a call and the pressure begins. I said yes, I would order a few more magazines, not realizing it was for 4 years. Then my husband gets laid off from his job. Now the funds are really tight. I call right away and tell them I do not want the magazines and I need to cancel. I have not received any magazines and I haven't received a bill. They tell me that is impossible you can not cancel. I'm sorry you can not get blood from a turnip.

Vip Readers Services at it again I am a disable VET . Tried to cancel so I canceled my card and return all mail from them. I contacted all 15 magazine to cancel and stop sending. there magazines. I only ordered two. They choose to sent 13 more. They made me aware they are paid up because of a renewal. They made me aware of the third party that paid them National Publishers Exchanges. I never heard of this company. I wrote cancel on the invoices for months. Talk to so many rude workers. that made threats but guess what all they can do is report to credit bureau .Cancel your card or checking account that will save you money., a mark on you credit is cheaper than your money needed to survive on. Good Luck.
Cannot reach company with questions
I have not been able to reach this company - there is no phone number on the billing and I would like to cancel publication - I believe this is a scam. I no longer own the business and have no use for the magazines.
I also cannot contact them by their email address.
Please advise.
Thank you.

Scam
VIP readers what a crock of ###. They say you enter a contract over the phone an can't send a copy of the contract in paper form. But they say they have a recording of this agreement of 24 month agreement of 897.00. Just so everyone knows that recording isn't even sound like me. An I didn't contact them first they called me first. An said I could try for 6...
